  1. DD, I was thinking (I could look on the klipsch site of course) that the Tangent 400 used the same drivers as the Heresy, but is taller and has ports, aka, the Heresy on steroids idea. Lower bass. Be easier to copy that than to try and calculate a bigger Heresy box. Bruce
  2. Well, I've been using Sennheiser headphones since 1972 and they are very good. Just because they have marketing like that doesn't mean they are bad. Bruce
  3. So... Bob, are you saying that any of these values are in the ballpark? Or should I look at my later model HII to see what they are? Bruce
  4. Yes you are correct My schematic shows the larger one as a 2.5mh and not 2.8. Which is really correct? Bruce
  5. If you want to know about subs, go to that section and ask. The EAR has a bunch, and I think he really likes the Sunfire. I sometimes have an old, small, Velodyne (8 inch) connected to my Heresys. At the volumes I listen at, it keeps up very well (it WAS free after all). Would like to have two subs to connect up. My son uses two JBLs with his Heresys and it is very nice indeed. Bruce
  6. 5 Altec/Iconic 15" woofers for each bass horn. Cool!
  7. I found that my Heresys really opened up once I took them out of the boxes. They look much nicer too. Thinking I will eplace the caps in the crossovers one of these days, but I enjoy them anyway.
  8. Lay a Khorn on its side and you're looking at almost the same size. The JBL 4350 is 48" wide x 35" high x 20" deep. I would love a set of these things.
  9. If you have a digital multimeter, you can check the resistance on the diaphragms. If they are smoked, they would be open, or have an infinite resistance. They could have melted and shorted, making the value lower than what they should be. Klipsch has the parts about as cheap/low caost as anyone else. Bob Crites may have those (BEC on the forum) Bruce
  10. John, I have rendered files of the exploded view with different wood 'applied', and different views. Mahogany, maple, walnut, white ash. Some just don't look as good as I would have thought. Maybe if I had played with the lighting more. I have wanted to do the actual drivers, but haven't learned the program well enough (Lightwave or 3D Studio would probably be better, but then I just don't spend much time with this. The only reason I have TrueSpace is because my son switched to Lightwave. The oldest likes 3D Studio better). If I did this for a living it would be a piece of cake, I'm sure. Bruce
  11. Can you see why they are fanatics too? Notice the background of the last pic? He made cabs from scratch to be vertical for his HT setup. The inside of the cabinets shots are incredible. How about 260 pounds each! They aren't horns but who cares, once you hear them. They use the 2405 slot tweeter, a ring radiator similar to the 2404 'baby cheeks' model everyone here raves about. Except the 2405 has better high end and doesn't take up as much space on the front baffle.. Bruce
  12. THese are obviously big puppies. Two 15s, a 12, and the horns. Nice shot of the veneer:
  13. Here is the grills off the pair he fixed:
  14. Colter, I just saw a cool fix on the LansingHeritage forums. One of the members has some cabinets with some mashed edges. He used a router and cut a rabbet along the edge. He then glued in a new piece of hardwood ply, sanded smooth and then put veneer over it all. He said it was easier than building up the edges with bondo or other filler material. Bruce
  15. John, Actually using my sons old version of TrueSpace ver. 4.3. I have an exploded view of the LS I posted some time ago, with bitmap laid over it. Colter LOVED it. Attached a lower res version again. The one good thing with putting the base underneath is that it will then raise the horns up more to ear level too. Bruce
  16. Picky, Weird, I have downloaded it from two different locations and it is over 60 meg. Glad you liked it. Bruce
  17. Chris, I'm curious as to why you would sell the KHorns and keep the Speakerlab cabinets. Do you like them better? I want to follow your thinking on this. The Klipsches are beautiful. Bruce
  18. John, That was one of my drawings. djk came up with this mod. Beolow are some links to more info, but you'll have to wade through the material. http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/259794/ShowPost.aspx http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/3/513170/ShowPost.aspx#513170 Basically, if you want the box under the LS, it can be 10" tall. The ports are 4" pvc, available from HD, etc. and 10" long. Some have shortened the ports to about 7". This is totally removable (obviously), but if you like it, you can close in the back of the top section of the LS and put the ports on the back. Open up the top of the doghouse (use a router with a flush cut bit) Bruce
  19. You know someone is going to ask how much? I love my Heresys. I will not sell them, but then I am now in a position where I don't have to sell off any gear I buy. Bruce
  20. artto, Not really confused. Mostly playin' with Dana over this. Bob Heil is mostly into making microphones these days. A church I belonged to in the late '70s had a power amp that was a Heil (same logo as Bob Heil's company). It was so noisy with the fans that we had it mounted in another room. But... I'm glad you knew the difference too! [6] Bruce
  21. Is that an orange juice can you spray painted black, located between the choke and the power transformer? [] Very neat job, as usual Craig. Bruce
  22. Picky, Great to have someone over who appreciates the system. Knowing you do video editing, download the film Climb Dance, an award winning film from 89 about a Pike's Peak rally race. It's only a 320x240 video, but the editing it great. You'll like it. http://www.geocities.com/nosro/climbdance/ The links to download are at the bottom of the page. If I remember corerectly, the first link is no good. It's also about 70 meg, but well worth the rush of watching this film. Bruce
