  1. Maybe he's so blown away by the Cornwall's he can't get off the floor to type.....[ip]
  2. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe you have to worry for another 10 years. I think you should look into upgrading the caps after 20 years minimum.
  3. Now after 14 hours of playing time they are sounding much better. I guess after another 14 hours they will get a little bit better and after 14 more hours just a wee bit better. I can wait for perfection, but is it hard, let me tell you.
  4. Hi, just a quick update - I received the mid drivers from Mr Crites and have now installed both new CT 125 tweets and the alnico PD-5VH's. As soon as I powered up the Scott amp and waited a minute I played a CD and the sound seemed closed in and not getting the full tonal range. I suppose 20 to 40 hours of playing might open it up more (I'm hoping, anyway). Does anyone know how long the average break-in period is for these things?
  5. For less than $1k you can get a Scott amp (any of the 299's - I happen to have a 299C -actually 2 C's and a 299D) and everybody is blown away by the richness and clarity and depth, along with the width of the soundstage that these amps can produce. Also they seem to work EXTREMELY well with the Klipsch Heritage, like your Klipschorn. I think it's the massive transformers of the Scott that is the secret to the sound. Craig at "NOSVALVES" rebuilt all my amps and in fact I just sent him a Scott 272 amp that I got at a thrift shop for a song. He's that good!
  6. Mallette: Gents, the tears rolled, and I do not mean just a few. Blubbering mess. I've heard speakers that made me laugh, dance around, and all sorts of emotions, but only the Klipschorn can reduce me to a puddle. .... .... I know that feeling well.
  7. They would sound even better if you remove the Tribbles that are stuck in the woofer area..[]
  8. Dave, thanks for the input - and everyone else. Do you know if Mr. Bliss made a few of these speakers or just this one for himself? Also is he still around? It is quite a good little speaker. (well, not that little). So that knob on the crossover doesn't change the frequency going to the tweeter, but instead increases gain {volume}?
  9. I speak faster than I type. Thank you all for all these answers and I left out one thing I suppose I should have mentioned. The mid "Horns" I have in my Cornscalas is, I believe the "Fastrac Cornwall" Fc380 which is very close to 11" high in front - rear height 9.25" - Width 17.5" front - 15.75" rear and length 9.25". Looks like these Atlas drivers are going in tomorrow. Thank you again!
  10. I just received a pair of Atlas PD-5VH drivers from Bob Crites who said they are equally switchable, meaning no change to the crossovers - with my K 52H (of which one is bad) for my Cornscalas. Same with the K 77M tweeters which I also switched for his CT 125's. The spec's for the Atlas says 110 - 4100 Hz. Anyone know what the spec's are for the old K 52H is? If Mr. James is correct and they are different what's my next step? My crossovers look like they were built by Alethia Audio, although there's no name on them they have a black satin wood base like some of Alethia's and it also has a 1 inch black knob on it with like 7 or 8 positions not numbered, but just switchable by feel. ............Thanks for all your help..............it's been a few weeks now trying to get this straight and I'm missing my music - it keeps me calm through the craziness of life.
  11. They were good speakers............... They were Klipsch speakers............ They WERE AWESOME CORNWALLS............. And now they ARE SUPER AWESOME CORNSCALLAS........ Whats the problem - he likes them, they sound great and most important...........................................THE WIFE IS HAPPY!!!!!!!
  12. Does anyone know if theres a difference between the K 52H and the Atlas PD-5VH drivers? Can they be swapped out without changing anything in the crossovers? Oh, also is the Atlas driver a better quality driver over the K 52H? ..........Thanks!
  13. Darn.....Missed it by that much!
  14. So, Craig was able to find 2 new output trannies to replace the burnt out ones??? That's fantastic!
  15. I don't care what you call it, that looks durned good!!! Just needs a little Chianti and some fava beans.
  16. Well, for the mids I have the K 52H's which I was going to upgrade it with Bob's CD 53P diaphragms. Do you know if there is good or bad reviews on the K 52H's? I kinda like the mid horns that are in my Cornscalas so I'm trying to do the best I can without cutting or modifying the cabinet.
  17. I'll be glad to give you my take on the CT 125's, but Mighty Fav, you had the CD 57P's in your K57's and if I'm reading you correctly - you then put in K55 drivers. Did you find the K55's better than the K57's? Even though I've been listening to great music for a long time, I'm basically a neophyte when it comes to switching out speaker parts of a speaker.
  18. Bob is sending me his CT 125 tweets - should come by Friday. Can't wait to install!...... for the midrange he recommended CD 58P instead of the Ti diaphragms as the CD 58P's need no alteration to the crossovers, where the Ti's do. Only problem he's been backordered on the CP 59P - hopefully by next week he'll have 'em.
  19. Doing some research I think I'll go with Bob's "CT 125 tweeters", since my K 77M's are out of there. But who has these titanium diaphragms you speak of (they sound like a big improvement over the K 52H) and will they work without changing my crossover?
