  1. Phil O, I am getting ready to sell an eight month old Sunfire MKII sub. It is 11" cube and goes deep. Just ask Ears about it. They are highly recomended for HT and don't do bad for music either. Price is $700 plus shipping from Bolivar, TN 38008. Let me know if you are interested. BTW it is in perfect shape. Austin Baker aab3rd@bellsouth.net
  2. Colin, Do I remember reading somewhere that you were auditioning the nOrh SE9 amp. If so, what are your impressions so far? I am looking to get a inexpensive little intigrated tube amp to try out with some Forte Is I just bought. These little nOrh amps are selling for $399. What is your opinion of these vs. a used ASL MGSI15DT, AQ1003, or a low priced offering from Jolida such as the 102b or 202a. Others chime in too! Thanks in advance, Austin
  3. Along the same lines, does distance from wall apply to passive radiators on models such as the Forte or Chorus?
  4. Welcome to the board Mempho5859. I live in Bolivar. I have a Legend home theater, a pair of Forte Is, and a pair of CF-1s (which I am trying to sell). Austin
  5. Reads, Check out this thread:http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=28229&sessionID={4FC28BB8-6C44-448A-989D-B1109C146223}Frzninvt will have a KV-4 for sale or you could trade for an academy. OOPS, did not read previous post
  6. I have the Outlaw 950 in my system with a Marantz MM9000 5 ch amp and a MA6100 monoblock for a 6.1 system. My 950 does not have the "hiss" problem that some had. I believe that they have the hiss problem solved. It is a great pre and is inexpensive at $899. The only problem is that it is not upgtadeable. It does have EVERYTHING needed now: Dolby EX, Pro Logic II, DTS ES matrix and discrete, 5 ch. and 7 ch. stereo, plus Cirus Surround post processing that will turn a 5.1 encoded disk to a 6.1 or 7.1 track. It does this better that using the Dolby EX when using a 5.1 encoded disk. I would buy the Outlaw again unless money was no object, in that case I would probably get an Anthem or a Krell Showcase. I just can not see getting a Lexicon or a Krell Home Theater Standard. They are of course great Pre amps. I have not heard the Outlaw amps but everything said about them has been good.
  7. If I understand HDTV correctly I think any 768 XGA projector will display 1080i or 720p resolution. 1080i only scans 540 lines at any given time. The only problem would be 1080p which I have never seen anything produce. I may be wrong though.
  8. Lucky, You have mail. BTW how do you like the Poineer Elite DV-47A
  9. I have a pair of Forte Is that are oiled walnut made in 1988. I just bought them from a friend that needed to get rid of them. I am going to compare them to the KLF-20s that I currently use, and if I like the KLFs better I will be selling the Fortes. PM me if interested. BTW I live near Memphis, TN (for shipping purposes)
  10. Have given more thought to a Heresy II for a center to go with the Forte Is. I am looking for a single in walnut if anyone knows anyone who wants to sell one.
  11. I've read some reviews on the HD VCRs and they look impressive but I think I will wait on HD DVD which should be out in a few years.
  12. Yes $500 is a good price for them. A pair of CF-1s just went for about 475 on eBay. I have a pair of CF-1s that I am going to sell and would not take much less than that.
  13. Now that I have some Fortes I am looking for a walnut Academy. Has anyone ever seen one on eBay or Audiogon?
  14. Well I decided to go with the Fortes. I picked them up today for $400. They are Walnut and not a scratch on them so I think I got a good deal. They are actually Forte Is built the 35th week of '88. Have not auditioned them yet or compared them to my KLF 20s. Also I am selling my walnut CF-1s on eBay pretty soon unless someone here wants them. No BS price is $450.
  15. I had one earlier. Sold it to someone here while I was waiting on my Outlaw 950. It was a good piece. you could change the back center level but the sides stayed on so you could only do it by ear. IOW you had to mix the two by ear. That was the only thing I did not like about it.
  16. Thanks, room is not a problem.
  17. Cornwalls are on eBay so they will probably go for $600 to 800.

    DTS

DTS is a 5.1 surround format like Dolby Digital which is usually thought of as a better format than Dolby Digital (but not always). DTS Digital Surround ? DTS ES Matrix is like Dolby/THX EX in that it derives a surround back channel from the two side surrounds. Either one or two speakers can be used for the surround back depending on your room width and seating. DTS ES Discrete is a 6.1/7.1 configuration in which the surround back has its own set of information sent to it from the processor. Again, one (6.1) or two (7.1) speakers can be used. This information is different(discrete) from the side surrounds.
  19. I started a now thread called Forte II vs Cornwall.
  20. I can buy a pair of Forte II for about $400 from someone in my hometown (Bolivar, TN - near Memphis). Also, I just saw a pair of Cornwalls in Memphis for sale on eBay. I am going to try to go see these saturday. Can any of you heritage people give me some input on the Forte IIs vs the Cornwalls. The Cornwalls are from 1982. SNs 30X788/9. Also, how do they sound vs the KLF 20s I have now in your opinion?
  21. Wonder of wonders! I live close to Memphis, TN and there is a Cornwall listing on eBay in Memphis. I am going to look at them saturday. I will post a review about how they look/sound afterwords. I intend on bidding on these. Opinions on Forte II vs. Cornwalls (do not know if they are I or II)? How do they compare to the KLF 20? Opinions from people who have listened to all of them GREATLY appreciated!
  22. Thanks jhawk et al. Jhawk, if you remember, I have the KLF 20s now (and a pair of CF-1s not in use). Someone here in my home town wants to sell some walnut Forte IIs cheap so I might not be able to resist. I have not heard Forte IIs before so I am wondering how they sound vs the Legends (or Epics). Anyway that is why I am asking about the match. I have a KLF C7 now and there is a KV-4 on ebay but it is expensive. BTW, I forgot about the Academy!!!!!!!! DUH!
