  1. My 1.5t kicks *** with my Infinity planar hybrid speakers. I mean, the power is seemingly limitless. There is a recommended update circuit board containing new caps that is sold on Ebay. Perhaps yours needs the update. I have also found that preamp makes a considerable difference. Which preamp are you using? I sold the Adcom GFA555II and kept the Carver. I agree though, you don't need nearly that much power for Klipsch.
  2. You can search Ebay completed auctions to find market prices for items. 200-300 for K400 pair seems about right.
  3. I picked up a set, both woofers on one pair have annoying buzz sounds with bass sounds. My last set had this issue, and I had redo the surround with foam. I'm not sure if the rubber surrounds are available. Thanks
  4. Heavy duty EV adapters currently in use. They have a big gasket where the horns bolt on. K55 screwed on.
  5. Those look great! I'm thinking I'll try my current adapters, with the intention of moving to the large format 2" drivers later. :-)
  6. I'm very excited! :-D I have been waiting for the right opportunity to upgrade my stock Khorn midrange horns. I do have pro EV adapters, which I'm currently using on the K55M with large format 2" HP640 horns. From what I see, they should fit properly. Right? :-P
  7. Ah, thanks for the reply but I already have a pair of those. I painted them a nice bronze hammered finish. They almost fit in the Khorn tophat, but they're slightly too large. I crammed them in there for a few weeks of listening, but they extended out too far. Great sounding horns though!
  8. I'm not sure! What do you have? I'm in Columbus, Ohio
  9. How does Volti compare to Fastlane?
  10. Ah, thanks. I need those. Does anyone have a set with adapters laying around unused for cheap? Lol
  11. I wasn't finding them on the website. I'll have to dig deeper. I'm on the hunt!
  12. Errr I'm only finding expensive speakers from Volti. Neat though.
  13. Those are just what I'm looking for, but I need them assembled. Thanks!
  14. I've heard good things about the two inch horns, so I'm looking for something that will fit the current tophat. It has to look good! I can't slap a huge PA horn on top (must have high female acceptance factor). I missed out on some tractrix horns a while back. Anyone? Thanks
  15. I don't get the derision toward K-400. If you upgrade with Crites crossovers and tweeters, you won't be fatigued. I started with AK-2 crossovers, my Khorns are from 86. Add some tube amps and it's magic.
  16. Does anyone know if these are suitable for Klipschorns? Are they big enough?
  17. Carefully unscrew the three screws and remove the horn lens, which is attached to the diaphragm. Wick off the fluid from the voice coil with filter paper or something similarly absorbant and lint free. Stick the paper inside the magnetic gap, go around and wick it out. This is new fluid, so it's relatively easy to soak your paper. Repeat with new sheets until you remove it all. Clean off any dust or broken magnet particles with compressed air, make sure coil is dry too. Be careful with voice coil!
  18. I couldn't quite get the CT-125 tweeters to sound as loud as the stock K77 on my KHorns with Crites 4500 crossovers. It got to the point where I shelved them, preferring the original brightness of the K77. I have read online about ferrofluid being an issue for some listeners. So, I removed it carefully from the tweeters. No, this isn't recommended for everyone obviously, but I'm using 6 watt tube amps and don't plan on overdriving them. Results: increased efficiency in that upper midrange/lower treble area that I just couldn't get right with the stock versions. I now have to lower the tweeter levels slightly via transformer attenuators, but i like the extra details. It is reversible; Parts Express carries little packets of ferrofluid. Anyhow, I just figured I would mention it to those who preferred K77 over the CT-125. I'm a happy camper now.
  19. That's a nice looking and novel way to align the tweeters. The Khorns are so tall, however, making me wonder how much higher i should be raising the tweeters. Perhaps some sound absorbing foam etc would help reflections. What tweeter is that btw? Thanks for the reply
  20. Has anyone pulled the tweeters and set them up top, aligning them vertically with the midrange horn voice coil? I was wondering if it was an improvement, or if the highs were dulled or obscured as a result of the tophat being in the way. Thanks!
  21. I used Jantzen Cross Caps from Parts Express when I redid my crossovers as well as replacing diaphragms with Ti. They're my favorite reasonably priced crossover cap. The exact values are posted online if you keep Googling. Good luck! They ended up being my girlfriend's favorite speakers.
