  1. LOL K5! I agree and I'm glad my wife doesn't spend too much time on here (well none) or I'd be forbidden! []
  2. I posted this in another thread and realized I should have put this pic here. (Now that I've figured out how to do it)! The rack will stay in the corner for now, we are doing an addition to the house next year and will hopefully sound insulate and wire conceal! We are really enjoying the TV, & LOVING the Rf 7ii's! Thanks for all of the insight, suggestions and comments on this forum - I've learned a lot and will undoubtedly continue to do so!
  3. Good - it worked! So with rennoc posting a nice clean pic - here's my grainy cell phone pic. For now the components will probably sit in the corner. We are going to put an addition on the house next year and this will be moving. (Let's hear it for sound insulation and wire concealment!). Really like the TV (Panasonic 65 VT50) LOVE the Rf 7ii's, we leave the grilles on - this was for illustrative purposes only. [8-|]
  4. Well here's my attempt at picture posting - I hope this works.
  5. Sorry for my epic noobness! What's the process for posting a pic - all of this chat about quality pics and I can't even get a simple jpg to load. I finally have the same tv and thought I'd post a pic but the site is vastly out-witting me!
  6. That's a great set up joker! I can't believe you have all of that in an apartment either! Wow!
  7. rennoc - I'm really glad you asked this question. I had been saving for a long time and ordered a 70" Elite from a local dealer for a price far less the msrp. Well production issues, delays & more delays from the initial order in August just turned into "we don't know when they'll ship". Soooo... after reading many reviews, etc. I changed direction and ordered a 65" VT50 Plasma from Panasonic. "Allegedly" it should be here next week sometime. I ordered this sight unseen but read so many positive things, I thought I probably won't go wrong. I have always gone the LCD route historically and really like the picture of LCD's. I was able to lay eyes on the VT50 at a local best buy but they didn't have a magnolia so it was out in the main populous under the fluroescent lights and it was 'ok.' I know with minimal tweaking it will probably look much better and the fact that the set was $2500 less than the Elite will take a bunch out of the sting of the 5" loss of screen size. I have looked at the Sharp 80" (LE44U I think) and it's ok - but the picture did not knock me out although the size is cool. Eventually I would like to return to the projector (I used to have a 106" screen with a Mitsubisshi projector in my crudely modified garage.) Next year we are putting an addition on our house and I have permission to sound insulate the basement portion and make a "theater" (it still has to function for other purposes - windows will be included etc) with the 24' x 23' space. For now I just want a TV pic that will wow and make movies fun as right now I'm watching movies on a 32" 720p LG [] I appreciate Gilberts take on Plasmas - I will post thoughts here after it gets here. Hopefully it gets here! I don't post that often, but I read a lot here and am grateful for all of you and your insights and experiences, I have and continue to learn SO much! Thank you!
  8. Youthman - thanks for the post. Your room looks wonderful and I'm sure movie nights are bliss at your house! I appreciate your grateful attitude for the setup you have. I think we're all ike av gear heads who will always find SOMETHING to add to the Christmas list, but appreciating that what you have is better than almost everyone else you know is a good thing. Great pics - thanks!
  9. Great space Shrader! Thanks for the clickable link dtel! Very clean westcott, do you have shades for the upper windows or do you just wait for night usually anyway?
  10. I don't have experience with the 308, but I am really enjoying the SW 115. I wanted the deeper end for movies and I was nervous that it would be boomy, but so far I have found it to be perfect for me as its very musical, but still gutsy enough to punch you in the chest when watching a movie. My two cents - I think you'd be very happy with the 115.
  11. I agree River - this one has stood the test of time very well! I got this with a free blu ray offer and I was very pleasantly surprised also at how well it still looks and it will be VERY difficult to top Christopher Reeves performance.
  12. Thank you tigerwood for the mental visual that would have made Episode I a smashing success and for the literal out loud laugh! (re: jar jar's tongue)! []
  13. As long as we don't discover that Hannah Montana is really Luke and Leias mother! Actually with Lucas having a lesser role they could be great!
  14. Congrats! That should serve you well! I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on noise from the cooling system (if any) when running. Looks like a great investment at a good price.
  15. Sweet! I'll take two please! I wonder how these will play out with regard to first gen HD tv's which were in the tens of thousands for sets that were MAYBE 720p & 42" (?) with low quantity source material. Are there corresponding 4k players (vs 4k "ready") and when will movies/tv be broadcast in 4k? These are awesome - no doubt, but I think those who jump in round one will be disappointed when the second gen is out with more material that is actually available in 4k and half the price. (What will internet speeds need to be to stream movies in THAT format?! [:|] ) I also wonder if we'll look back one day and wax poetic about the days of 32 inch tv's as the trend seems to be moving toward dedicated living room wall sized tv's! Many of us who haunt these forums will enjoy that, I do wonder how the spouses and average consumers will feel about 80+"! Maybe OLED will be thin enough to cover with drapes! [] No doubt the pictures will be stunning! Thanks for the post!
  16. Congrats! That's a great feeling to have a picture that makes everything seem new again!
  17. Well said tmassey! Buy it right, buy it once (or until the upgrade bug bites... again)! We definitely have a common thread here when it comes to av gear and enjoyment!
  18. Nice review! I tried to get by with a cheaper unit years ago and after much frustration I adopted a new motto: "Buy it right, buy it once".
  19. There is nothing "ol" about that Kuro! That's an awesome display! []
  20. Congrats! New stuff is always exciting! A little Christmas in October! []
  21. I've had the xpa 5 since July and have the hum also. I think you worded it well W27, I think it's "tolerable" at this point. I'm waiting on a new tv (early Nov) and a stand and when I re plug everything in - I'm going to try to isolate that. I never notice I when listening to music or watching movies. My OCD may kick up the longer I have it, I'm still brand new to the rf 7ii/& using separates arena myself.
  22. Great responses. I am or was in the market myself and have been researching some on tvs. I am guessing budget is an issue if you're shopping for three tvs at one time. I have ordered and am now waiting for an Elite from a local dealer. This was after looking around for quite a while. This is the new incarnation of Scrappy's Kuro since Sharp bought the Elite name from Pioneer and it's an LED/LCD not a plasma. I watched this TV right next to an LG LCD and plasma and Sony's top of the line LCD - the Elite is a home run. Detail, blacks, wow factor are off the charts IMHO. The price tag is over the top, but if you find a local dealer that will work with you that would help, but you may not want to spring that much for a tv. I would be surprised if you found someone selling theirs unless they made their spouse angry! []
