  1. They have a power conditioner that's 50% off. Not bad.
  2. Angry wife threw them down stairs? Twice? Poor speakers =^(
  3. Does he have pics posted? How old is it? What kind of shape is it in? I'd shop around some more and try to get more comparative prices. I'm guessing he doesn't really know what it's worth, so definitely start low.
  4. I watched the newest underworld last night. It had some great sound, excellent use of 7.1. Picture was good too. Can't really comment too much on the movie tho cuz I fell asleep thru half of it... =^P
  5. I agree that if you have time to play around, then definitely go for it.
  6. Some good deals on there, almost makes me wish I had some extra money laying around.
  7. I'm guessing it won't be that difficult. If you have any experience splicing at all, it shouldn't be a problem.
  8. This doesn't make sense to me...The SACD should have sounded better as FLAC compresses the audio file, although it is *supposed* to be lossless...weird...
  9. ^^^Always, we don't have cable so netflix blurays are on constant rotation in this house.
  10. I just see more star wars cartoons coming out...
  11. Got the 103. First impression is that the picture seems sharper, even without messing with the settings. I asked my wife cuz I didn't want to think I was just being hopeful, but even after she rolled her eyes at me, she noticed it too, ha ha. So far so good. I need to dig into the settings a bit more.
  12. ^^^I'm sure I will. I have everything hardwired thru my ASUS RT-N56U and have my XBox set to use the most bandwidth when it's connected. My internet connection is pretty decent as you can see below, although at peak times it's obviously a bit lower, but I don't think it ever drops much below 20mb/s. I was just reading about lag compensation which seems to plague the host in MW3, dunno how true that is or if it's what my problem would be...It could also be that I'm in somewhat of a small town, so anytime I connect to games it's probably a ways away from me.
  13. That looks awesome. I'm gonna put you in charge of building mine when I can do it =^P
  14. You would get more wow from a 2nd sub first imo. Most likely. I'd say my 4311 has pretty decent power output, even at 7.1, but most the time I listen to music it's in stereo, so I really don't know how much an amp is going to impact my setup...I suppose I'll give it a shot one of these days...
  15. ^^^I have my xbox thru my AVR and I lag all the time. I've never tried hooking it up directly to the TV to see if it makes any difference. It's gotten so bad that I'm most likely not going to buy Black Ops 2. I have read that different TVs can also make a difference. I have a 4-5 year old panny plasma, not sure what the lag rating is on my particular model...I suppose once I get my Oppo, I may try to run the XBox thru it to see what happens.
  16. ^^^what games do you play? Do you play online shooters? I would think the more components it goes through, the more lag. Even something as small as 20ms can mean the difference between death and kill.
  17. hrmm, good to know. Only thing about doing the xbox thru it, is won't it cause more lag for online gaming since it has an extra component to go through? I guess it would be the same if you used the 2 HDMI outs too...
  18. ^^^I appreciate the links. I think a 3 channel would be plenty for me at this point tho if I was to go for an amp. I have been thinking about it for some time tho since I got on this site. I need to save up some cash and then do my shopping. I still want a second sub too...
  19. ^^^Thanks for the link, I think even the 27 might be more the size I'd be looking for.
  20. I looked through the section and couldn't spot it. I don't suppose you have a link?
  21. I think there are some settings that need tweaking in your denon. As far as I know, that's a great AVR and should sound great. Re-run Audyssey and see what happens. I noticed when I first got my sub set up with my Denon it was lower than I had with my onkyo, but I had turned the sub up. I ended up turning the sub up with my Denon and then did some research. After my research I re-ran audyssey and left the settings alone. Basically I felt that my bass had disappeared, but someone explained to me that I was hearing 'reference' bass and that I would get used to it. I tried it for a couple weeks, and then turned the sub up and it ended up sounding too bloated, so I put it back to where audyssey had set it and have not touched it since. This may be your issue, hearing something that you are 'used' to other than what it 'should' be. Try audyssey again, leave it for a couple weeks and see what you think.
  22. I'm going to say don't look past the SW-115 either. I absolutely love mine. Unfortunately there aren't too many reviews out there to look at other than reports of it coming out, but for the price point I think it's fabulous. I got mine for $600 brand new, and am wanting a second one to even out bass response in my room. It has plenty of bottom end for watching movies and I have never noticed boomy-ness or flabby-ness when it comes to music, and I listen to all sorts. I think it sounds great with all types of music. I can honestly say that this sub will not disappoint anybody other than the klipsch sub haters and ID sub fanboys out there.
  23. Sounds like yes to me =^P My next upgrade will be Palladiums, or whatever is out in about 10 years, lol.
