  1. Got it. Their music bank DVD, and Unplugged DVD, are killer. Better sound quality than the CD. I picked that song cause it fit the topic. Would? Them Bones, Again, great band...
  2. Highway to Hell. AC/DC Stairway to Heaven. Led Zeppelin Down in a Hole. Alice in Chains One of my destinations should be covered...
  3. I think it's a matter of the old settings, not working with the new K-691 driver. I am using different settings for the DX-38 now, and the sound is in a different league. My mediocre reviews had to do with set up and tuning, not the actual speakers...
  4. I don't own a Speedo, thank goodness. It's a mixed bag. I like the voicing on the Jubes, and the drums really sound good. The guitars sound like they play in a narrower bandwidth, or frequency. The bass and guitars sound like they have a lack of cohesion. A little off, maybe a little thin. Of course I changed everything, amps, active, with the standard settings. To be continued...

    RIP Gregg Allman

Not cool. It's hard progressing thru life, and watching all your favorite legends pass on...
  6. I bought a really nice Yamaha pre amp. On the back tuner input, it's missing the ground sleeve or collar, on the rca input. It looks like it would press on. Any ideas where to get one, or how to fix this ? Of course just by chance, I have the matching tuner. Thanks...
  7. I took the chassis cover off on my D-75A amps. There is a little hole in the pot, i sprayed WD 40 electrical cleaner in a few times and lightly blew it out with air. Worked great, no static anymore. Did not lube, tho...
  8. Some holes are good, like doughnut holes... They are only on the exit of the horn shelves, I was able to stick my finger in them and they completely sealed from the inner pathway...
  9. I have the same holes, you just can't see it in the pic. So no worries...
  10. Chris, Do you what these settings are ? I would like to try them. My LS were such a mid range dominant speaker, they could really punch you in the forehead with a thick guitar power chord. Even acoustic guitars were more pronounced. The Jubes have much clearer voicing, are smoother, have better and cleaner separation of instruments. Seems I need to add a little mid range, oomph.
  11. I would not have believed it, if I had not heard it myself... My sound is leaps and bounds better, than yesterday. Playing the same familiar song while making adjustments, made all the difference...
  12. Good news. I found some bass ! 2 & 4 outputs only had the " Hi " lights on. So I changed the settings to lo-mid-hi. 1 & 3 outputs only had the " Lo " lights on. Changed that to Lo-Mid. Sounds MUCH better. I thought setting the frequency cutoffs would take of that. Any more tricks about the DX 38 I should know ?
  13. Cool. When I mute the LF, the HF has no bass , mid bass, sounds like a transistor radio. Must double check my settings...
  14. I must have a setup issue. If I mute channel 1 and 3 on DX 38 which is my LF, the HF sounds cheap and tinny. I have my pre amp L going to input 1 on the the dx 38, and R, going to input 2. I have output 1 and 3 from DX 38 to Crown amp for the LF. Output 2 and 4, to Crown for the HF. If this helps...
  15. I will not give up, no problem there. I've been playing some of my favorite recordings. An example, the song " Would " by Alice in Chains. It starts off with a righteous bass riff, on my LS, it would just make me shake my head in amazement.. I just played it on the Jubes, and the bass riff had no definition and kind of sounded like mud.
  16. That's what I'm thinking, and was expecting... I love bass in my music.
  17. They are in full corners, exact spot as my LS's were in. I've listened to my LS in three different houses, with and without the sub,and I don't play the sub at overpowering levels. I'll play some different recordings, double check all my connections. I played both Crown amps in my Chorus 2 room, and they sounded fine. I do have the speaker wire connected to the top woofer, positive and negative. Is this correct ?
  18. Hmm, I'm not getting that at all. I'd say mine is a little under whelming. My La Scala's with a KSW 15 had more bass. The K-402 is smooth, sounds the same anywhere in the house. Less harsh sounding, than my LS. So far, my review would have to be neutral...
  19. True. Something I'm glad I got rid of, my 89 Camaro !!!
  20. Total bummer ! Albums were so cool, they were so big and fun to browse thru at the local record store. We could do it for a couple hours, and they always had cool paraphernalia to gaze at... Good times.
  21. The mighty beaver. What can't they do ?!
  22. I did it the hard way, before I figured out your trick. I had a couple small problems. The master delay 1 & 2 has values 1.9 ms. on the dx 38, that was not on the chart. The second was the compressor settings and limiter. I could not zero those out, as they were not on the chart. Any advice ?
  23. I still think it was the incredible creativity and variety of the music from the late 50's to the late 80's, that was so great and made all of us music lovers. Not a lot to get excited about, since then, for me. I've heard the music I like so many times, it loses some of it's appeal. So I look for better speakers, amps, videos and concerts on DVD, to add excitement, and a fresh sound on the same music. Just an opinion...
