  1. Blu, I have two of the four completed. One is ready for paint and the fourth awaits stripping. I have gone through these completely even to the point of re-finishing the crossover boards. I am awaiting the Pro Logos that I am having cut and I think Chris is going to make me some Blue accented Pie Logos. I hope to get these finished over the Holidays and I will post some pictures this weekend. I truly considered painting them back in blue but I realized returning them back to original, was the best course. They will always be "THE" Smurf Scalas and Chris' logos will represent that. This thread will be the proof of their former life. I have become quite attached to them and will probably keep them around, unless someone REALLY wants them bad....! The fact that they are four consecutive serial numbers has special meaning and it would be hard to break up the family. W. C.
  2. Klipsch is by far the best dollar spent in sound reproduction....! When you can close your eyes and it sounds LIVE...what more could you ask for. Like anything else, the support equipment has a great affect on what you hear, as Klipsch speakers don't mask the sound. Crap in Crap out...
  3. Sony ST DA 5300ES (six HDMI inputs) running a pair of K Horns R and L and the center La Scala. The four surround LSI's are driven by four Crown XTI's (Active) and the pair of Danleys DTS 10's are driven by a SAE 502 amp, by way of a DriveRack 260 (All fed from the Sony). To me, and this is just MY opinion, it sounds like the Movie Company is in the HT room filming. Everyone that has auditioned, it is blown away. We use Direct TV running through the Sony from a rack mount DVR and it is great. Listening to the R to R, Tapes, CD's or records, in two channel is as clean as it gets, to these old ears......Needles to say, I am very pleased with the Sony.....! Your milage may vary..........! W. C.
  4. Tom, I believe the Jamboree was designed by Dana Moore and the site is Sonaphase. There are several threads about it on the Forum. W. C.
  5. Moray, I'm pretty sure that Greg has a set of JAMborees listed on the Bay, here: http://cgi.ebay.com/Two-Large-Folded-Bass-Horns-Loaded-Klipsch-Woofers-/290513565661?pt=Speakers_Subwoofers&hash=item43a3f537dd There is a set of Jub clones here: http://cgi.ebay.com/JUBE-CLONE-Klipsch-Jubilee-Copy-JBL-Bass-Horn-cabinet-/290514226085?pt=Speakers_Subwoofers&hash=item43a3ff4ba5 Thanks, W.C.
  6. Marshal, Best whishes for a speedy recovery and have great comfort in knowing that your friends here at the "Forum" whish you the best....! If there is anything that you need, I think you know, that all you have to do, is ask. W. C.
  7. Sorry for hijacking the original posters thread any further I think it's funny that our resident expert gets all of his info form http://www.wisegeek.com/ the name truly fits. For everyone's reading pleasure, the "Expert" is great at cutting and pasting: http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-a-power-conditioner.htm Perhaps our expert should get away from the computer and spend some time in the real world and educate himdelf a bit more on Electrical Theory....! His sad atempt to blast our members with his so called knowledge on a subject that he clearly does not understand is rather amusing. If your total education on this subject was obtained by surfing Wise Geek, you totally have missed the boat. You were somewhat OK until you mentioned the $500,000.00 warranty...................Can you say..."Snake Oil"..? Before you decide to educate the members of this board again, I would suggest you spend some time educating yourself, on the subject at hand. Also, it would be better if you used your own words rather than someone elses. At least give credit when you copy someone elses work.....! You may find that a few members of this board are "Smarter that the average bear"....! BullShit is right.....!
  8. I also have a pair of the DTS 10's.......... After fooling with speakers for most of my 61 years, I have found the best subs that I have ever listened to. The sound is nothing short of the word "IMPACT"...! While they are expensive, I and a few others, were fortunate enough to acquire the kits for these monsters, when they were first introduced. That being said, there are other kits out there that offer great sound, at a very reasonable cost. The TUBA is a great project and would be fun to build. With K Horns and La Scalas, a 12" sub would be lost in the space and would never provide the THUMP that you would be looking for. The Heritage line is SO clean you will need to find something that will compliment them on the low end and something that will keep up with the efficiency. There are also some great commercial sub "deals" offered on soundbroker.com JMO....W. C.
  9. You will be fine without the sub.... The La Scalas will fill the hall nicely and the kids will never miss the sub at all.....ENJOY....! W. C.
  10. Tom, I sure would love to read more of the "Gems" that your Dad wrote.....! Has he done a book....? It is great that your family was with your Mom when she passed, I was fortunate, in that respect with my parents. W. C.
  11. I'm thankful for my health and still being able to pass a Commercial Flight Physical at 61.....! Thankful that I survived four marriages....! Thankful for the fact that I dspatched my Manic Depressive, Drug Depentent, B!tch from Hell, X Wife 22 years ago and never looked back....! Thankful for my 5000 sq/ft shop/man cave........! Thankful, that my dogs (Black Labs and a Golden Retriever) love KLIPSCH Speakers and don't mind giving up space for them.....! Thankful to have retired twice and still be able to hold down a very good paying, full time job, in something I love doing... (Retirement was boring)....! Thankful to have seen most of the world and visit places, most people dream of.....! Thankful in knowing if I went tomorrow, there would be NO regrets....! Life is great and "You 0nly Go Around ONCE?......! P.S.: Thankful for some of the GREAT deals that I have found on Klipsch speakers......!
  12. Raven, Good catch.....! There are many options for the tweeters and I hope they are local for you. With a little work, they can be made into very nice speakers.... W. C.
  13. Raven, Was this the set of beaters that just sold on the Bay for under 400.00?
  14. Duane, You DO realize that the above post are over five years old....right?
  15. If your Chorus are not in a home theatre setting, check your TV and see if it has Audio OUT L & R. Plug the Chorus in and let the TV amp drive them, it should have plenty of power for that. If you do have a HT system, you should be able to play your TV sound through your speakers. Just some thoughts, W. C.
  16. djk, The Klipsch logo insert are what we are working on. The handles are Penn Elcom H1024's and the preprinted logo inserts will be inserted at the factory. The cast handle will be available in silver or black and the plastic cup will be available, with the logo printed on the top of the cup, not on the handle as in the later years. The inserts will also be available to replace the blanks. W. C.
  17. Bottom line is: When you close your eyes, the artist, group, instrument should sound like they are in the room with you, I. E. LIVE... How you get there is optional and YOUR milage may vary. Whatever you do, rather than rely on the equipment to tell you what you are hearing, you should adjust your system by whatever means necessary, to have that sound, sound good to you!
  18. Just wanted to give everyone an update in reference to Thack's post above; We are having the three cast corner piece molds manufactured by Dynacast, Inc. The molds will be complete before the end of the year and we are planning a production run of the pieces after the first of January. We are making a run of 1000 - 90 degree angle corners with a follow up of 500 each of the remaing angle pieces. We have also found that the original aluminum trim (straight pieces) were a special extrusion and we are working on that. The die cost for the extrusion is much cheaper than the cast molds to make. As the molds are made overseas, the time frame tends to drag out, but the cost justifies the wait. The original pieces were a mixture of aluminum and another non ferrous metal. If you remove one and hold it, it is obvious that it is not solid aluminum. The finished pieces will have the screw holes cast into them. We will not set prices until all of the production cost are complete, but they should be within reason. I am not doing this to make a profit, as all I am looking for is to cover the cost of production. I hope that this will be a valuable service for Klipsch owners. We know that there are quite a few people that have the Industrial cabinets, that would like new trim, as I have a few that are either missing a piece or the trim is really beat up and needs replacement. All of the pieces will be an exact copy, as the molds are being made from pristine (NOS) examples of the pieces. Also, if you would like to "trim out" that cabinet that had no trim to begin with, to give it the "Rodie" look. We are also working on the Klipsch handles and hope to have examples available at the same time. Here is a drawing of the 90 degree piece, just click on it and it should open clear in the window:
  19. DUH.....Great suggestion.......! The thought never entered my mind......THANKS W. C.
  20. Anyone near Tampa Bay Florida....? I am looking for someone to work with me on picking up an old Rebel speaker and getting it ready for pickup or to be shipped by UPS. The seller does not want to fool with shipping. Please PM or email me: heli001@aol.com Thanks, W. C.
  21. Chris, The clear Pie's with the gold look great.....! I am pretty sure that is what I want to use on the La Scalas. Did you see the blue one that someone posted? Can you add blue pigment to come up with something for the Smurf Scalas? Thanks, W. C.
  22. K Horns are so clean and efficient that they will bring out the true quality of any recording, Kind of "bad in bad out", as they will bring out every screech of a finger on a Fret board or the breathing breaks of the Artist. They pretty much demand quality equipment to compliment them along with quality sources! The majority of the time, if it sounds bad, it is the quality of the recording, not the speakers.
  23. Is that a set of La Scalas in the foreground.....the black beat up looking boxes....? W. C.
