    FS: RS-35

I bought a pair of RS-35 a couple months ago, and now have decided to sell them as they don't match my KG5.5's very well. I would rather not put them on ebay, and will leave them listed here for a week. I would like to get $325 + shipping for them, but will entertain offers. I have the original boxes and everything.

  3. Given the choice I always choose DTS. The few times I have switched back and forth I preferred the DTS sound.
  4. Wow that sucks. I bought my first five Klipsch from Flips back in '95 when I lived in STL (on Watson not far from there).
  5. I have been using them for a month on the 3 at a time plan and think they are great.

  7. My main hobby is cars, and I autocross and run open track (hpde) events on road courses. This is my 380 rwhp '01 Trans Am sporting 315/35/17's on 17x11 wheels at all four corners. It also has a cam, full exhaust, suspension mods plus some bolt-ons. Here it is on a road course with 275/70/17's all around.
  8. I have been looking for something that compares the various setups, and lists the pros and cons of each. I have not been able to find anything, so I came to the experts. I am inclined to think that a 6.1 with 6 identical speakers would balance the sound, but do not know. Also, are there any DVD's available that are encoded with 6.1 or 7.1 sound?
  9. Thanks for the advice STL. I noticed the "hole" front & center when using the four 5.5's, but for the first time the front and rear seemed to meld together. I agree that the KV-3 can't keep up. I have found some of your advice in other posts and have looked at your setup. Very nice BTW. Ideally I would like seven 5.5's, but what does one do with a 70# center channel? I was thinking about replacing the front panel in a 5.5 so that I could have it woofer--horiz. horn--woofer, but there is not room for the port if you rotate the horn 90º. I suppose the port could be put on the back right behind the tweeter. Anyway, let me think about it and I will let you know on the 4.2. I assume from your screen name you are near St. Louis. I am from there, and will be spending 8 days there around Christmas. Chuck
  10. I have long felt that my RS-35's don't mix well with my KG5.5's and KV-3. Yesterday I took the time to move the room around to use another set of KG5.5's for surrounds, and positioned the speakers better (blocking the walkway). I watched a couple movies, and was amazed at how much better it sounded. The sound had so much more depth and presence. Watching SW Episode II, space ships flew right through me; before I would hear it behind me, then in front of me. I did change the surrounds from small to large for the day. Then I moved everyting back
  11. Thanks. I am pretty sure I will like them. I have had another pair since '95. The two I just purchased will be surrounds. I got the "new" pair home yesterday, and while they have a couple scratches, they sounds great.
  12. As stated, retail was $250/pair. I paid $125 for a pair new in 1995. Not sure what they are worth today.
  13. I just picked up a pair of medium oak 5.5's in good shape for $450. There are two other pair for sale on eBay right now.
  14. I am looking for a set of 5.5's, preferably in medium oak to match my others. I have not been in the market long however, and will end up with a another set. Anyone want to trade a newer pair of RS-35's for 5.5's + cash? Thanks
  15. My KV-3 sat 3" above my old TV for 8 years without affecting the picture. I set it on top of my 30" HD and it distorts the picture (makes the upper corners red). At the advice of a friend I put a shelf on the wall and moved the center about 2' from the TV.
  16. I recently swapped my older Pioneer DVD player for a Samsung DVD/VCR combo player. I mainly wanted progressive scan. Anyway, from time to time the sound will skip, or go quiet for a brief moment, nut only during Dolby Digital playback. DTS, Pro-Logic, or stereo do not have this problem. I am using the optical output and input. I swapped back the old DVD player and it worked fine (also using the optical cable). I suspect there is a problem with the Samsung, but want to make sure I did everything correctly before I exchange it.
  17. What are a set of medium oak KG 5.5's in very good condition worth these days? Also, anyone know how serial numbers work on these. The pair I am looking at are numbered considerably lower than my current 5.5's.
  18. You would be suprised how much a simple Sharpie will make that invisible at more than 2'.

    WTB: KV-4

dougdrake - Thanks for the explanation. I was thinking it was an upgrade, and was looking for better efficiency from the center. I will stick with the KV-3. Thanks

    WTB: KV-4

I would like to upgrade my KV-3 to a -4. I would prefer medium oak, but realize that is a long shot.
  21. What is the best way to preserve the finish of medium oak Klipsch? Should be they be oiled, or just dusted? For the past 9 years I have just kept them clean and they still look good, but I was wondering if I should be doing more.
  22. I am looking for stands for a pair of RS-35's. I would like for them to be about 4' tall, simple, and black. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  23. I bought all of my Klipsch from Flips about 8 years ago. They were very helpful, and I would do business with them again (if I didn't live so far away now).
  24. This is a depressing thread. I own a set of KG5.5's that I bought new in late '95, and so far they have been problem free. I have never really cranked them for an extended period of time, but they still sound great to my ears. Cosmetically they are like new. Maybe my set will be the ones that last 28 years
