This is why my next upgrade will be a new subwoofer instead of focusing on getting a new Atmos capable receiver. I figure it will be a year or so before Atmos encoded movies will be plentiful enough to warrant the upgrade. Hopefully the receiver options will also be more plentiful and cheaper at that point as well.
  4. This doesn't sound like an upgrade to me. What is making you consider the change?
  5. Jay L, hadn't seen you around in a while. Rumor was that you went to work for Apple or the NSA or something.
  6. $1.63 here in Charleston last week.
  7. Thanks for asking meenoo5. I've still got some tweaking to do, but it's getting close. I'm presently running my system in a 7.1 configuration. My next upgrade will be a new subwoofer. After that I'll be in the market for a new Atmos capable receiver.
  8. I'm not planning to go cheap. I'm planning to acquire something on par with the quality of my mains.
  9. What's the reputation of Rythmic? Are they going to be around for the long haul? Their website looks a bit antiquated. I'd rather buy one high quality sub and add another later if needed. I'd worry that I'd get upgradeitus if I had two of the Klipsch subs.
  10. Do you think that would beat out a single Rythmic? I've read some disappointed remarks regarding the R115-SW.
  11. The DIY dual sealed 18" subs is very tempting...good thing Parts Express and DIY Sound Group is out of the flat packs. I can just foresee all the parts sitting out in my garage for a few months.
  12. No worries, I'm reading and learning.
  13. How long does it take with a toddler hanging on your leg?
  14. I knew you guys would try talking me into DIY. I cant even find a cabinet builder willing to build me a half door/baby gate in Charleston. They're only accepting complete new house construction and/or renovation jobs these days.
  15. I'd love a couple of DIY 18's, but I just don't have the time for a project these days so I'm looking for plug & play. The "American Cherry" color veneer offered by PSA looks very close in the pics to my RF-7II's. They only offer it in their sealed 15" (PSA S1500) and dual sealed 15" (PSA S3000i)models. I have the right rear corner pre-wired for a subwoofer and I'm pretty sure I could fit something like the PSA S3000i back there. The doors in the room are all exterior doors with weather stripping which makes them pretty tight. I'd read that 80Hz and below is supposed to be non-directional. Could you just lower the crossover to 70 or 60 Hz to avoid this issue?
  16. I'm seeking out the wisdom of this forum to help me decide on a subwoofer for my new home theater. My room is approximately 3,450 cubic feet in volume. You can see its layout in my build thread here: https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/158099-fds-dolby-atmos-ht-design-build-thread/ The accompanying speakers will be those shown in my signature below. Other considerations include: I'd like to keep the total cost at less than $1500. I'm open to multiple smaller subs. I'd like to have a wood finish to match my cherry mains, but its not a requirement. So far I've been looking at Rythmic FV15HP, various models from PSA, or even the Klipsch R-115SW as a budget option. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Regards

i think you mean 7.2.6. Mains then subs then atmos. 6 subs wouldn't be all that unusual around here.
  18. What model of in-ceiling speakers do they install? I agree with the other responses, I can't imagine that in ceiling lcr would sound as good as front firing speakers. Welcome to the forum.
  19. Sweet, thanks. I guess I should have checked parts express first.
  20. Thanks Mike. Anyone know where nicer ones might be available?
