  1. I know someone that uses 2.2's as surrounds.I used to have 2.5's as surrounds(same)and loved them. The noise might be something loose or a bad speaker.Parts are still to be had.Good price. ------------------ Main HT:'77 Klipschorns w/ALKs,'75 Heresy center, modified with,K-Horn sqauwker & AA network. 2. Got a bit off topic did we,just my 2 cents worth;Martin Logan has it's place and it's not in my living room.My Klipschorns sound more natural, just plain better.Martin Logan sounds great on piano type stuff and classical guitar, but so does Klipsch.Their center channel speaker at a price of $2K+ sounds.....well I'm not here to bash other peoples toys. What I've sold;KG-4's,Chorus I's,Academy,KG-2.5's. What I have in my"Klipsch closet";IW-150's,KSB 1.1's,KG-3's. 3. Have you set the levels with a Rat Shack SPL meter?Or at least by ear? You might get some help if you move this to the Home Theater section This message has been edited by Steve P on 06-24-2001 at 08:56 AM
  4. Don't know if this will answer the question or not,but in my bedroom system I have my Heresy's on the B side and KSB 2.1's on the A side.More than once have I come home to find that my wife has had the Denon 2800 cranked for hours with A&B on in 5 channel stereo with the unit in a closed cabinet. No air supply at all and playing just fine.I have had no problems with any of my Denons in this area(knock on wood).I have my Denon POA-2800 amps in the living room running with a 4ohm load on one and and on with a 4ohm load on one channel and 2ohm loud on the other, not even warm. But they are made to drive 1ohm loads. ------------------ Main HT:'77 Klipschorns w/ALKs,'75 Heresy center, modified with,K-Horn sqauwker & AA network. 5. avman, thanks for the link.I have had Dish for about 3 1/2 years now and at one time had C-Band,Dish and Direct at the same time.C had the cheapest Premium channels,Direct had the best menu and I only had it for the Pay Perview, dish best and still is best price.I do hate the Dish menu and hate it only goes a few hours ahead before"please wait or cancel"comes up.Direct goes days ahead.I'm going to look into the Player as my bedroom slave has a stereo seperation problem.Center channel and right channel get the same signal. Anyone going with Dish here is a tip,for $1.99 a month extra you can get a service policy that covers what ever.Ask about it.My slave can be replaced for the price of shipping,$14.95 to where I live. ------------------ Main HT:'77 Klipschorns w/ALKs,'75 Heresy center, modified with,K-Horn sqauwker & AA network. 6. You fail to get the point,Wired1,it's not about LOUD,it's about tonal perfection. It doesn't have to be loud to sound perfect.K-Horns are to me and many others perfect in tone and sound as real as you can get,all on less than a watt a channel.I have listened to speakers in the $20K range needing a kilowatt or so to achieve what I do with 3/4watt and I only have $1200 in my Klipschorns. Room to small for all that equipment, nah! Q has what most or some of us would love to have;near perfict sound. And a system that doesn't need a zillion watts to drive to ear bleed levels. And the best part it all can be done with a single 20 amp circuit, not a small power station next door with stock in the local electric company. Sorry,I don't mean to sound like I'm fussing,but.................... ------------------ Main HT:'77 Klipschorns w/ALKs,'75 Heresy center, modified with,K-Horn sqauwker & AA network. 7. Keith,I have 3 Dishnetwork recievers, the one in my main HT is the 4722(?)w/DD out.Show east and Starz east are the only 2 doing Dolby digital. The Denon AVR-3801 decodes them just fine and they sound like DVD's.I leave mine set to 6.1. Pete C,my 3801 remote works the dish reciever just fine,I know it isn't a UHF remote, but it still sends the signal RF.Not sure if that's what you meant or not.
  8. Yes Klipschorns make a great Home Theater speaker But then i would say that because that's what I use. The KLF-C7 would work just fine as a center as will the KSP-S6's for surrounds. DWK,IMHO the La Scala makes a better center for use with the K-Horns for HT use.The only difference between them and K-Horns is the K-Horns go 10dB deeper in the bass end.The Belle sqauwker(mid)and network(crossover)are different than those in the LS and K-Horn.The Belle is a nicer looking speaker for use with the Horns.Just my oppinion Check out my home page and you will see what I've done using a Heresy for my center. ------------------ Main HT:'77 Klipschorns w/ALKs,'75 Heresy center, modified with,K-Horn sqauwker & AA network. 9. Keith, use the Acurus to drive the front end. The 2 Denon ARP-2800's I use for the front are putting about 300X2 rms because they are seeing a 4ohm load.I don't use anymore than a watt if that.Using the 3801 as a pre-amp with the amps made a noticeable and very much liked change.Even though the 3801 is rated at 105X7 you know it won't do that. All mine is doing is driving the 4 KSP-S6's.Keep the Acurus up there.Or send it to me and I'll let you know how it does BTW great buy on the 3801,you already know you will love it
  10. Well my friendly"local"Klipsch dealer as of June first has become Tweeter.Someone there asured me that the same sales staff would be there, but price changes might be a thing of the past.I guess the other dealer that I like that doesn't carry Klipsch(anymore, but another story)will be happy with that beacause cutting deals isn't what they do. Anyway I haven't been to Tweeter yet and I'm not in any hurry.Saddens me because the dealer was a great place with friends on the top level of managment and would price things right for people.I don't know about what or how it will be now.I need to take a"field trip"and see what is happening. They were a very well established audio-video store, localy owned with 3 stores. O Well
  11. To me Klipsch sounds better with certin(I miss the spell check) elecrtronics and I have yet to find a dealer that carries both. The local dealer had B&K,Yamaha and Pioneer.I had B&K-Klipsch,and Yamaha-Klipsch,and have settled on the Denon-Klipsch sound to be what I like.Tweeter I hear carries Denon and Klipsch. For me that would help, but I like the Denon-Klipsch combo.IMHO Maybe there is more of a markup on other speaker lines than on Klipsch,I don't know, but that would cause a problem.Maybe they make more green on the other stuff. After all that's what this country cares most about.Give me more of the green stuff,I need more!!! Sorry I lost it. Do other speaker companies have a cool forum like this?We here love our Klipsch sound, everyone else has been brain washed to not and say it's the"horn"sound.Sorry twice, got on a different rant.I'll go now.
  12. The Heresy II would be the closest match, but what is it going to sit on?RPTV I hope.Other wize one of the other 2 would do fine. I liked my Heresy center, but can't leave things alone.Wasn't content with the tonal balance.Check out my web page to see what I did.You could do the same with a newer Heresy, not cheap, but I found the perfict match. You can order one Heresy or get 2 off of ebay(sorry Klipsch) ------------------ Main HT:'77 Klipschorns w/ALKs,'75 Heresy center, modified with,K-Horn sqauwker & AA network. 13. OK now here's the hard part Finding a dealer that will let you take them home for a weekend. The only real way to decide. I've had Denon for 5 or 6 years now and like the sound and features enough to keep one or actualy all three around.Still have my AVR-2000 and enough Klipsch to make a nice small HT w/no place to put it.Good luck Don't know anything about the other 2 you are looking into, but have listened to Marantz with KLF-30 and 20's at a store.Nice sound, but wasn't looking at receivers that day.Shopping with a friend for 30's. ------------------ Main HT:'77 Klipschorns w/ALKs,'75 Heresy center, modified with,K-Horn sqauwker & AA network. 14. I know the feeling! I live between Charlotte and Winston Salem NC. Charlotte had Audio Video Systems, great to deal with and able to cut MSRP.Would order what they didn't carry, now they have become Tweeter Heard from an ex AVS person that cutting prices was a NOT!Haven't been yet,be a while before I go. Winston has NOW!Audio Video I don't think much of their "head"sales types.Been to 2(1 was in Knoxville TN)and at both the guy had worked at or with Klipsch in the past(BULL****!)I didn't fall on the audio wagon yesterday and I don't care for people that try to steer my away from my Klipsch.Get a life sales nobodies. 15. The guns are in the bottom and not effected by magnets. When mine was rightside up there was no sign of a problem. Using the Heresy as a center should be a perfict match.Closer than it was to my Horns untill I modified it.Cornwalls and with Heresy surrounds and center should make a great sounding system.Wish I could hear it.
  16. Chris, the Heresy uses the same tweeter, same mid driver with a slightly smaller horn(if it's an older Heresy)as the Cornwall and would probably be a better match.I have mine as boa said upside down to get it the tweeters on a closer plane and run it "large".I did modify it using a K-Horn squawker(mid).Check out my web page(little house in the bar bellow)
  17. Go for it,stepped up from a 2800 to the 3801 and love it.Yes the NEO:6 is great,I like it over pro-logic.It sends 20 to 20K to all speakers instead of cutting cutting off what goes to the surrounds.6.1 does a great job on all DVD stuff. You can find them on the net for $800 or so.Problems?Nope, still have the AVR-2000 that's 5 years old and use a 2800 in the bedroom driving almost the same speakers you have.I dare say you won't be disappointed. ------------------ Main HT:'77 Klipschorns w/ALKs,'75 Heresy center, modified with,K-Horn sqauwker & AA network. 18. Doug,I see you are headed for"no life"and lots of stars!
  19. t-man,I have the 2800 and 3801.The 2800 is now in the bedroom.105 compared to 85.Made no difference to me.Even the newer DAC's didn't really make that much dif. When I added the 2 amps and used the 3801 as a pre-amp,now that made a difference.More detail ,bass had more impact. Not that I needed more power, but seperates do make a difference. That's a different story. ------------------ Main HT:'77 Klipschorns w/ALKs,'75 Heresy center, modified with,K-Horn sqauwker & AA network. 20. Widescreen Review has part 2 of "Dolby Vs DTS"in the June 2001 issue. www.widescreenreview.com Check the site out, might be on there also. The guys at WideScreen like DTS over Dolby. There are differences in the 2,but not enough at times to jump up and down about.Just my oppnion. It's mostly the surround mix, more revealing maybe and the bass is to me a bit deeper. If I have the choice,I go for DTS.It's a bit different mix.I had the "Haunting"in Dolby EX and got the DTS ES 6.1 descret version. My wife and I love this flick and have watched it a lot.The other night we watched the DTS ES version for the first time and she said she liked the difference.More"you are there". ------------------ Main HT:'77 Klipschorns w/ALKs,'75 Heresy center, modified with,K-Horn sqauwker & AA network. 22. Max,loved your post.I know the feeling.I have owned many different Klipsch speakers over the years.Love my K-Horns like no other.Found some Heresy's for my bed room because I spend time in here too. They are just for music, but have 5.1 HT in here as well.Would gladly sell them if I can ever find some Cornwalls.
  23. av,it's worth the effort.Run the pro in "3-channel"if you have it or in pro-logic with the it's rear surrounds set to"none",hook your surround speakers to the pro'smain L&R and the new center or centers to the pro's center out.It will matrix the center surround. To set the levels run the test tones from the old pro and set the 3 speakers, then set it to 2 channel and set the levels on your 5.1 like you did when you got it.Should work.It is the way THX EX is derived and I could tell no difference. It works on non EX material, have watched a bunch of 5.1 material. How ever when watching non 5.1(pro-logic)switch the pro to 2 channel or all the surround will come from the"new"rear surround speakers.
  24. And Trudy said for you not to yak???
  25. The Jubilee's we saw and heard(loved them)were still prototypes and not the finished piece. So any pics you see from the trip don't have the finished product. The bottom end was finished, but not the final tweeter horn finish
