  1. I have 2 in my 21X13 bedroom.They do all I need for movies.Reason I have 2 ,part of a deal I came across.Very full bass for such a small sub.f> ------------------ Main HT:'77 Klipschorns w/ALKs,'75 Heresy center,modified with,K-Horn sqauwker & AA network. KSP-S6 at sides 2 KSP-S6's rear. Denon AVR-3801 2 Denon POA-2800 200X2 1 driving the Horns 1 driving the bi-wired Heresy center. 2 DIY 12"4ohm subs,Carver A500x 400 watts per ch.feed. 1 12" powered sub(behind the couch)feed from the surrounds pre-outs. Sony DVP-C650D.Dish Echostar 4700 w/DD JVC S7600U S-VHS Pioneer CDL-D501 laser Music in "Direct"only! DH Labs T-14 speaker wire to the front 3. Bed room HT:KSB 2.1 mains,SC-1,SS-1's,2 SW 8 II subs. 2 Heresy's for music. Denon AVR-2800,Dishnetwork,Sony SLV-975HF VCR,Panasonic DVD-RV31.
  2. The SP-1 is the only one of the lot that is powered. I use the KSB 2.1(replaced by the SB-2)in my bedroom HT and love them. That's coming from someone with K-Horns,Heresy C,and 4 KSP-S6's in the other end of the house. The 2.1's are mated with SC-1 and SS-1's,with 2 SW 8 II subs. They are feed by a Denon AVR-2800. Comparing the SB-3 to the SB-2;3 is $100 more for 2 Hz lower,52Hz-54Hz,but the spl is 94dB(3)to 93dB(2). Can't say how they would sound compared to each other. Now if you have $650 the SF-2 would be a nice step up. Anyway just my oppinion, good luck
  3. The Tangent series used the same diaphragm as the KG line. They are still avalible.
  4. Rear port, only a problem if placed up aginst a wall. Can they be placed out a foot or so? I've used rear ported Klipsch seakers only inches away from the wall with no noticeable sound differences, but they were surrounds. It would hinder the bass response some, but don't know how much
  5. Craig, sorry to hear that. But just to let you know something; The 30 and 20 used the same 90x40 exponential, same driver(K-79-K). The C-7 and 10 used the 90x60 Tractix,C-7 used the K-90-KV and 10 used the K-100-K tweeter. They weren't exactly the same, but would have made a great center.I'd have used the port also and in the center below the tweeter, but only if the cu.ft.were the same.Port tuning problems. If you could port the C-7 it might(I say might) go lower, but not designed for that. Maybe one day you will find a single 20 or 30,they would be a perfict match. My Heresy center was never a perfict match till I found a Klipschorn mid horn(sqauwker) and used a K-Horn AA network, perfict now.I wanted to use 2 Heresy woofers and build a MONSTER center,but................
  6. I guess you have talked to Klipsch Tech support. The Tangent line used the 90X40 Exponential tweeter and maybe a diaphram from another line will work with the same crossover point would work. Be sure to tell them what series you have
  7. Hey Keith,I love the NEO:6 Movie and Music mode.Better than pro logic for movies. The music mode,to me,is better than 5 or 7 channel stereo mode. Killer deal on the S-6's,I found some used 6's for less than that and NOs>there are not any more for that. To me the 3801 is very hard to beat for the price and goodies it has.It and the 5800 are the only DTS ES descret receiver out,far as I know.It might not be Pro Logic II,but it makes a difference. Not much software out for 6.1 DTS,but it's coming. From what I've read 80Hz is a perfict blend when running the mains"large"and they go down to 35Hz.The B&K 307 is completely user ajustable on all channels, but I just want to turn it on and listen and 80 works fine for me. I had a JVC that was 80,100,and 120 and anything over the 80Hz didn't work for me.Too much info in the sub. The sub level is adjustable for each mode and can even be set to"off"in Direct mode(2 channel, all DSP and digital stuff bi-passed) And it remembers the last settings.
  8. I see by your shopping list you shop at Audio Video Systems. Those are Reference series in walls you've got,The SC-1 and SS-1's will work.I have them in my bedroom HT with the KSB 2.1's as mains.I like them. They will sell you just one SCW-2 if you ask and that's what you want to do.Maybe use them as surrounds and step up to the SF-2 or SP-1 as mains. All depends on what you want, are you limited to space?
  9. Very nice start, you have room to grow when you decide to. The SW 8 II is a suprising little sub,I have 2 in my bedroom. They were part of a deal that I got on a pair of '96 Heresy's.They do a great job on movies or music.
  10. Colin,I'm in the"done 4 now"catagory! Both sound great and I'm broke till the LOTO falls in our lap(dreamin, dreamin, dreamin) Want something, but can't justify it,broke, maybe just............... ------------------ Main HT:'77 Klipschorns w/ALKs,'75 Heresy center, modified with,K-Horn sqauwker & AA network. 11. Hey Matt, Becky and I loved the new one.Keep em comin! You were right about it.Now if I can just get my burner to do a good copy of it.
  12. I would guess that my bedroom system is almost a System 6;KSB 2.1 mains,SC-1,SS 1 surrounds,2 SW 8 II subs. In comparing this to what's in my living room,it sounds very good.Bedroom size is 13X21.Now for music in the bedroom I have 2 Heresy II's w/the subs. I find the SC-1 meets my standard. ------------------ Main HT:'77 Klipschorns w/ALKs,'75 Heresy center, modified with,K-Horn sqauwker & AA network. KSP-S6 at sides 2 KSP-S6's rear. 13. Well they all use the same tweeters,in other words they are a family and should work(play)great together. I have the SC-1 and SS-1's with the older KSB 2.1's in my bedroom and love em. How big is your room? The 10" might be fine. In my 21X13 bedroom I'm using 2 SW 8 II's and they handle it.
  14. erdric, drove my 4's for a while with a Yam RX-460(55X2)with now problems, but the 4's were the 6ohm models. I was using a Yamaha MX-630 to drive my 4 ohm subs and did so for 5 years,no problems. For a few weeks(against Yam's judgment)I drove my bi-wired Heresy center from the A&B left and my subs from the A&B right of this amp and had no problems what so ever.I guessing the poor amp was seeing all this as a 2 ohm load(or so). I would also say check with Trey and Matt, but sounds like "sometimes stuff happens".I've had 2 very old Pioneer recievers loose one channel.
  15. My Denon 3801 is 105 a channel and I use a Denon POA-2800 with my Klipschorns. It's 200 X 2 into 8ohms and I bi-wired them using the A out to the tweets and squawks(highs and mids)and the B out's to the woofer.I'm guessing it's about 300 watts or so on tap.Never use more than a watt. Anyway it brought more detail at lower levels.Go for it. I also use another 2800 to drive just my bi-wired Heresy center.Over-kill?!s>Nah!s>
  16. Actualy,we have had Yamaha,Onkyo,B&K seperates. All with Klipsch. We like the Denon sound.Mystery doesn't have a problem with me buying Denon, and I trust her judgment. We have had 4 Denon recievers and I hope I've found my last. The only reason for changing has been upgrading to the newer technoligy. When will that ever stop? I rebuilt a system for a friend that has the Yam DSP-A1 and KSP-400,C-7 and KSP-S6's.Sounded very nice. Check em both out,you can't really tell by our opinions. That's my opinion!
  17. Keith,the Klipsch lit.from CES has an $800 MSRP on the RS-7's
  18. Hey johnny, here is something you might want to look at. www.belgaudio.com/kcmap.htm Some day I'll find my Cornwalls.Believe it or not they will find their way into my bed room. The Cornwalls used in the link are 1986 ------------------ Main HT:'77 Klipschorns w/ALKs,'75 Heresy center, modified with,K-Horn sqauwker & AA network. KSP-S6 at sides 2 KSP-S6's rear. 19. Hey Andrew are the unmodified Forte's the ones you got from me?
  20. Ya got all ya need man.Don't change out the Vel.18.I would love to have the one you have. Started this post to let others know about a very good sub for the money. Anyone reading this post;check out a Bag End,don't worry with the specs unless that's what you need to read or hear from someone telling you about what they are selling.Having one in your own living room is far from it being in the dealer ship or from someone teelling their stuff is the best. For years I've been amazed by what even a small Velodyin can do and have wanted one.Very musical and very hard hitting for movies.Bag End is also a very impressive sub. SVS,never heard or felt one. Tv,Wide Screen review liked the Bag and they do that stuff for a living.Soon as I get to work Tuesday I'll see what they had to say about SVS.Sure I know they are just a mag.and what do they know, after all it's just their opinion.I've got one, just like I have an a**hole. When I started this post,it was just to point out a fine sub that I don't see here any,not that it was the **** or anything like that.Just that it was out there and some might want to look into it.Not better, not the daddy, just a very nice sub for $1,500.Heck the 2 18"ported JBL subs at CES in the dts theater blew the hell out of anything else there.Just my opinion. One thing nice about a sub doing it's thing with just 400 watts,at lest I don't need a sub power station next door to keep it going. To each his own,I'm not bashing anything here or anyone, just giving my opinion. boa, nice start on the secound system. My bed room HT is finaly done and it sounds great doing 2 channel music or HT. ------------------ Main HT:'77 Klipschorns,'75 Heresy center, modified with,K-Horn sqauwker & AA network. KSP-S6 at sides 2 KSP-S6's rear. Denon AVR-3801 2 Denon POA-2800 200X2 1 driving the Horns 1 driving the bi-wired Heresy center. 2 DIY 12"4ohm subs,Carver A500x 400 watts per ch.feed. 1 12" powered sub(behind the couch)feed from the surrounds pre-outs. 21. The T 40's are rated to 42Hz,I'd add a sub for movies. They are 96 spl w/2 8's and a passive 12",so a KSW-15 or KSW-12 would do fine. The T10's would work just fine for rears. Don't know what you would do for a center, only the 40,30,and 300 used that tweeter. The matching chart says the SC-1 for a center,it's rated at 95dB,it should work fine.I have one in my bedroom Ht and like it.
  22. Pete, this guy is in Florida and they aren't even K-Horns,they are Cornwalls.Someone posted it else where on the BB.You would think he would after 20 years of ownership,he might learn how to spell Klipsch.O Well.
  23. Hey boa,was just messin with ya way up at the top.Wish I could get my hands on an 18"Velodyne.We could get technical for a month, but still love the Bag End.A friend of mine has 2 unpowered 18's in his HT with an ELF and QSC 1000 watt amp. They are not in the corners, they are between a K-Horn and La Scala center.Room is about 24 X 17 and they can pound your chest, love bass you can feel. Everyone likes what they have and I still love my 2 12"in 2.5 cu.in.boxes driven w/400 watts per.Even when power was only 200X2 they did the job. When the K-horns came home, the subs just needed more power. And yes they do keep up with the Horns very well.Have done Super Speedway at 125dB with no lack of bass or any hint of distortion. Anyway I didn't start this post to caues any"my toys are better than your toys",just making a statement........ boa, just keep loven that Velodyne and I'll keep dreamin of a Bag End or 2. I'm also wanting a pair of Cornwalls, some day.I would love to have that pair of '72's on ebay.I have found a pair of '96 Heresy's and am listening and enjoying them as I type this.Bed room toons. The 2 SW 8 II's in here do one heck of a job for a 21X13 room. Even though the SW's are 65 watts rms(100 peak)and only do 99 dB max, they have very nice bass for music and HT and it's just my bed room.
  24. Can't argue about horse power, but it's how it's used that counts..Heard or felt one?2 Bags for the price of one 18"Vel.? I'd love to have an 18"Velodyne,but not at $3000. Wide Screen review liked it enough to rate way up on it's list. Not arguing, just my opinion.
  25. a_d_a_m, www.bagend.com Do a dealer search. For $1500 you can get a Bag End Infra-18 powered sub that will sound great with music and hurt you on HT's. They will tell you about a mail order place that will sell it for $1,225 and ship it by truck.Too big for UPS to damage.103 lbs.shipping weight.88 out of the box.Check them out.I love Klipsch, but when are they going to come up with a brute. Bag End is a Pro and consumer speaker manufacturer. Velodyne's 18"is great and I love them(sorry boa12),but half the green it's a monster or at the same price you can do 2.
