  1. You wouldn't get much out of the termianls from the rear outs.Bass from the surrounds wouldn't be much at all.And probably sound like "crap".IMHO Bi-wire them from the front speaker outs running dual speaker wires from each front speaker out.Or if you have A and B front speaker outs run the tweet/mids from A and the bass from B. Or not.
  2. My boxes were already built and only $100 each.I'll have to get back to you on where they came from. They were flush mount w/grill and finished in light Oak,on a riser base.Just had to cut a small hole for the speaker terminal.Put it in the bottom and used speaker spikes. The cat.is at work. You will still have to use exact calculations on box size even when using a passive radiator. But you knew that right?
  3. Do a search with just "Bryston"in the search box and just in HT.Hammer is the one I was thinking about. He has 5 7st's with 30's and C-7.Think it was the secound or third one down.
  4. Bryston has great customer sevice, they are great with email returns. They tes their amps for 100 hours and have a 20 year warrenty. Do a search on this site for Bryston.Someone on here is using the 500 watt Brystons with the 30'.4 30's if I remember right with one to each plus one to a C-7 center.Wish I could remember who, sorry. If you ask they will send you the"4th Edition of Critical Acclaim"nice reviews done by a bunch of mags.Maybe that will help.
  5. No pressure Doug. They would work on the 7'wall for music, really they would, but no pressure. Does the 7' wall have a corner at each side? If they were 5' apart, could still sound nice for music.I understand. My KG-4's and 3's were tried in my bed room 4'apart and worked very well.Room was about the size of your HT room. The Forte's were about 9'apart in my present living room and I think they could have been closer together. Maybe the day will come when the house will grow. They could work in both places and sound great. Your choise. If they don't work, you could easily sell them.Just a thought.
  6. Sure,Doug.Anytime You'll be happy with the Forte's.Remember they cost $1200 new and compareed to $700 in todays money, you'll most likley be getting more bang for your buck!
  7. Well,CC does carry a Velodyne sub. What next? "Man check out that big sub with them Blose, realy rocks, don't it?" Actually the CC in my area has a sales guy there that knows his stuff.Works there cause it's close to home I guess. At least he knows what Klipsch is and could even pronounce it.
  8. Isn't that the rare zebra wood?Good luck in finding them.
  9. A seperate stereo amp would be much better than trying to use a car amp and power supply. The power supply would most likely emit some"noise"into the system and a good poer supply would cost enough to get a used amp.
  10. Malcom is right, different mids as well.
  11. That would be the best thing to do. I have used 2 Kicker Comp.12"subs in 2 2.5 cu.ft.sealed boxes for 5 or 6 years now. They were ment to be sealed box subs. In my last home with a 12'X24'X 7.5' room they were only 2dB down at 20hz and powered with a 190 X 2 amp.I have thought of getting some "real"subs, but why? These never have let me down. Sealed subs to me are more musical than ported, ported better for HT,but not for me.
  12. I agree with Doug, the bass you keep out of the surrounds and center will save them from trying to reproduce that bass. You can try the center"large",but don't worry with the surrounds.IMHO
  13. JH, In my system I run my K-Horns(104dB)and modified Heresy Center(now 104dB)at -6,my KSP-S6's are set at +4.That's a 10 difference and the speakers are 8dB apart. My rear centers are only 90dB and have to be set at +12. I think your 20'are 102dB,am I close? You aren't hurting anything.I never have and I do "Super Speedway"at 110 to 115dB.Never have heard any unhappy noises except for the cats running for cover. Do you have a SPL meter?Radio Shack about $38.I set mine and leave it alone. All movies are not mixed the same and you will notice some differences in the surround levels.
  14. How far will the main setting be from the Horns? Mine are 15.5 apart and I'm 11'from the wall they are along. They become to directional that close. When I'm watching a movie and sit about a foot from center of the room the Horn closest to me is a bit louder.I have to sit dead center for music.I don't mind this because I love my K-Horns. The problem with the width is that they are at a 45 degree angle to the wall and that's the way they image. Also, what is going to be between them out from the back wall? Some cabinets,a TV? Click on the little house in the bar above. It will show you how I got around the problem of my cabinets and TV.It's my HT page,it will load a little slow,be patient. What the pictures don't show is the In Walls that are not a good match, but work for the back surrounds. They are only 90dB and have trouble keeping up with the front end.I had to set my 3801's levels as follows:-6 front 3,+4 side surrounds and +12 for the IW-150's. What are you going to use for a center?
  15. Wonder if that could be done to a regular Heresy? Wish I could see inside one.
  16. Heresy would be fine. I have one I've used with my K-Horns since I got the Horns last April.I was not 100% happy with the tonal ballance. The sqauwker being crossed over at a higher freq.and being smaller. Maybe another La Scala? I found a K-Horn sqauwker and made a small box just for it and used an AA network. It's perfect now.Tried the AA network first and that's not the way to go. Still a Heresy as is would fit the bill for you.IMHO
  17. I had the I's and they sounded wonderful. The II's have a 15"passive radiator on the back of the cabinet and the I's have dual front ports.Have never heard the II's,but would think the bass sounded somewhat smoother, maybe tighter. Other than that I don't think anything else changed.
  18. YEP! Unless you can find a single Cornwall for the center,Heresy C and surrounds would be my choice. I use a Heresy as a center with my K-Horns.I wasn't completly satisfied with the tonal balance and level,so I added a K-Horn sqauwker in a seperate box under the Heresy and used an AA network. It matches now perfictly. My wife thought it was fine before, but I can't leave well enough alone. Not to discourage you about using one for a center,I just felt the smaller Heresy sqauwker sounded a little lean in the mids. Of course the Belle uses a little bit different sqauwker than the Horn and La Scala.Might be a better match after all. Sorry for the ranting.
  19. w-s-n,find out how high the front needs to raised and head to Lowes. They have a section with rubber and felt feet you could play with.It won't hurt the bass.I angle my bed room center down with a piece of stiff foam. Can't see it.Angle it close to your ear height, doesn't need to be exact.
  20. I want my Prontos> Sorry didn't mean to shout. Please forgive me! That's the one for me.
  21. I completely agree with what you are saying. My local dealer carries the Reference line and has to order most everything else Klipsch. They don't even have the big Ref mains.I'm wondering if they will even get the new out soon Ref.line.It would be a great mistake if they don't. Now they sell most everything else,Martin-Logan,B&W,B&K. It might be me,but when I listen to the Matrin-Logan center,it sounds dull and unnatural.Costes out the butt too. So what's the problem here? This is no joke:Ifs>I ever win a lotto(please, please, please)I'll open a Klipsch only store with all the Klipsch avalible and that's it.Bet I'd sell some unbelivible HT and 2 channel systems. Nothing like K-Horns L&R,Belle or La Scala center and Heresy surrounds. I'd make sure it was next to a local Circuit City and such.People would know what HT and Music should really sound like, not that fake stuff. Enough said!!!!
  22. Tony,I'm happy for you.Always loved the 3's even over the 4's.Wanted them really bad. Maybe I'll get to hear them soon. Steve
  23. My KG-3's in my bed room are on home made stands and come to think of it the bass doesn't really generate to the floor. They sound great and don't lack in bass at all.Didn't even think of that. Yup,45 miles from Charlotte,12 miles from Salisbury.I'm here to stay. Try the milk crate thing, they should stay put.
