  1. 150-200$ ish but I’m flexible within 100$ If it’ll make a huge difference
  2. Morning everyone! Cold and rainy this am. Possible snow later so I’m sitting in my recliner, looking out the window, listening to Radio Paradise sipping my fresh Ethiopian Yirgacheffe (Organic) and easing into my day. Re ripping my entire CD collection (1200 cds) to lossless format, to be placed on separate OWC mini stack hard drive for safe keeping. All of this to be placed on my Wolfsen DAC ipods. Then introducing my new Onkyo 7030 CD player to my Sansui 8080. Moving the CD63E to the 2235B to see how they work together. And looking at new head shell/carts for my new, (to me) very clean Technics SL 1500. Any suggestions? Big day lol Have a great day folks! ☕️
  3. FWIW, Ok so I received my bag of Silencer Smooth Blend (basically Columbian). Quick shipping, nicely packed, smells good. It’s not bad, a nice change and I would buy it again. https://www.blackriflecoffee.com/collections/coffee/products/silencer-smooth-coffee-blend Having said that, I have to say though, around the Valley here, the absolute best (IMHO) coffee is from the Salt Lake Roasting Company. http://roasting.com/ The owner is from Michigan (my home state) and is a very cool guy. The coffee is outstanding! And if you are ever here, the new location Is a very cool, relaxing hangout.
  4. Excellent post and future resource for my build! Do you still have the VTA 70 connected to the Cornwalls?
  5. Maynard, Thank you for the post. I have some experience with soldering but definately see the value in your suggestion about practicing prior to soldering on the amp itself. I will get a rubber floor mat and use the GFI outlet close to my work bench. Craigster
  6. Hello everyone, Big day for me as after weeks and weeks and weeks of reading and research, and literally years of reading about how nice the sound tube amps provide, I have decided to go ahead and buy and build my first Tube amp, the Bob Latino VAT 70. I had the opportunity several weeks ago to listen to my first tube amp and WOW! I was hooked right then and there. While I have no background with Tubes, I thought it would be a fun project and what better way to learn by building right? I am reasonably intelligent, can read and follow instructions, am handy with my hands, and have the time and will to see this through. I am in no real rush to finish, I just want to enjoy the process, learn, have fun, and maybe (if he shows any interest) work with my Son on this as a co production. So as I move forward with this project, I would love any thoughts, opinions, and ideas to help me prepare. For instance, what is a really nice soldering iron that you guys may have used that you can recommend, or is there a special work surface and or mat I should consider? Are there things I should avoid? Dangers? Caveats? Please, share your opinions and experience (s) with me. Im all ears at this point. My listening area is my man cave/basement. It is an area bout 12x20, carpeted, with furniture. I have and will initially be using my Fortes until I can save for and find a nice pair of Cornwalls. For a source I will use either my CD63E CD player, iPod or TT. I currently have a Technics SL23 currently, but will be saving for and purchasing a nicer rig down the road. I am going to order the VTA 70 over the weekend. So.....help me out guys. I look forward to any and all ideas, thoughts, opinions and such! Thanks! Craigster
  7. Do you have a specific type you want to know about? I'd be happy to try it for you.
  8. Funny you should ask that as I drove by their store today. I'm going to grab a bag and I'll post my thoughts 😀
  9. Keep the Quartets! You’ll be sorry if you let them go. Your Klipsch journey started just like mine lol Over paid for Heresys, just like you. Tried them with a sub but they just didn’t do it for me. Since went to KG 3.2s to 3.5s to KG 4s KG 5.5s to my beloved Fortes and I hate to admit it I’m looking for Cornwall’s! Enjoy those Quartets and don’t be so quick to let them go 😊
  10. They must do great work as everything they have is sold! Again thanks for the link. I’ll be checking them daily!’
  11. Hi, I do indeed find myself living in Utah lol Thank you for the link I am going to check them out now. I have decided that I need to get into Tubes! Craig
  12. The more I look at your beautiful Fisher the more I’m willing to pull the trigger on one. I just need to find a nice one!
  13. That’s sweet man! Like that HK sitting up there. Looks like, at least in the pic, you are without TT? I find myself using the TT less and less and just use my iPod and or stream music. I use my CD player as well.
  14. Thought I’d share a pic of my late lunch and, IMHO, the best coffee around. The Iced Vietnamese coffee. They make it the traditional way by using the little metal filters. Absolutely addicting!!
  15. Not sure if they still have the Tour or not? I’ve been gone for some time. And yea, the water fiasco has been something else. If they would have just asked me I could have told them the Flint river is not ever, and I mean ever going to be suitable or treatable for drinking water. 👍
  16. Snow, Michigan (I was born and raised inFlint) and coffee. Three of my favorite things 😊☕️ Supposed to rain/snow here too (Utah) That espresso machine is the bomb!
  17. KG2s arrived safe and sound packed bomb proof!! They are in very good condition and I’m happy he reached out to me in it time of need 😊 I have them hooked up to my HT as fronts with KG1.5s in the rear and a 10” sub and they sound great! Further listening is in order with and without sub. I’ll post more in a few days. it was a pleasure doing business with you. Thanks again RIverNuggets!!!
