  1. There are only a select few of us who can have such an organ.
  2. Mornin' gang. 1.5 cups down and just got a topper. I gave up making the tree light decision years ago. We used to go all white (my choice) and then my daughter (a teenager at the time) begged me to get some multi-colored ones. It seemed so important to her I couldn't say no. Now we use the colors and work in a strand or so of the whites. My philosophy is let the family decide since I'm happy either way. Next year Baxter decides. Cheers and Happy Friday.
  3. Been doing some upgrades of source components lately and decided that the Marantz CD6005 would be a fairly economical improvement over our current CDP. Result? Two defective units in a row. The first had a bad laser which skipped and sounded like an old beat up LP. The second unit powered up fine, but could not go beyond giving me a "No Disc" reading after I placed a disc in it. Same result for a half dozen discs. The best Marantz USA had to suggest is unplugging the unit in hopes that it would reset. (It didn't). This will be the second unit going back to the vendor. Might be a dumb move, but I'm taking a chance that a third unit will work. I really do like the Marantz 'house' sound and have had great luck with them in the past. Anyone else experiencing these kinds of issues with Marantz lately?
  4. That's what I assumed. Absolutely no way otherwise. Not even a question. Ditto. Too many wackos running around these days. Good grief, I sound like my parents!!
  5. Mornin' folks. Still fighting the crud but improving. Thanks for sharing the caregiver stories. I was in that position many years ago and am grateful to have had the opportunity to be useful and of service. That kind of giving is its own reward. 2 cups down and 1 to go.
  6. Marantz. I've had both. 'Nuff said.
  7. Lotsa ways to get your caffeine jolt these days without coffee. In college (back in the dark ages) I sucked down hundreds of cola drinks. Finally got so sick of it that I developed a "taste" for coffee. Would be a lot better off if I grabbed a bottle of water every time I think I need a caffeine fix!!
  8. My labs were playing rough last week outside...they like to run and tackle each other...fall and roll. The 6.5 year old (Marley (BTW, that's him in my avatar, 6 years ago) reminds me of Jerome Bettis...low and wide and tries to make some sharp cuts back and forth. Anyway, Blaze tackled him and he let out a good yelp last week. We were concerned...no limping, but didn't want to move and would walk a little, then want to sit down. Called the vet and he suggested 325 mg SAFTEY COATED aspirin, but only for 3 days. This would not be something you would want to do for a prolonged period for chronic aches due to old age or arthritis (would cause stomach problems). It worked magic and he is back to himself. Going to have to keep them a little more mellow. Can't afford any serious injuries or surgeries. Hopefully Jake will take to his new meds well. How's Baxter? Like he has been part of the family forever, I imagine? Baxter couldn't be better. He finally has a home where he can belong and be part of a family. He thinks he's been here forever and so do we. Thanks so much for asking. Baxter sends his Springer best to Marley, Blaze and Jake.
  9. I switched from a Denon AVR to Marantz separates a couple of years ago with good results. The Denon was bright to the point of being irritating. Not so for the Marantz. I see where budget does not allow for separates right now, but perhaps a Marantz AVR would be a good stop-gap measure. Their house sound has always been on the warmer side.
  10. There categorizing rain out there, there bored. Happens in the Denver area all the time except with snow. Big drama every time the nearby mountains get hit with only minor results here, but it's reported as Denver. Can't decide if they're just stupid or dishonest. Either way, very little credibility. Still fighting a cold or whatever but got some meds and hopefully feel better soon. Happy Tuesday to all. Later, guys.
  11. Mornin' gang. Being sick has its advantages .... my sweetie and her daughter ganged up and got the Xmas tree up yesterday while I mostly vegged. Up early today and on my 2d cup. Think I'll hang with Baxter today and get some things done at home. Hoping this crud goes away soon... my music playing partner (guitar guy) is chomping at the bit to jam but I'm not up to it right now. Hopefully that changes very soon. Later .........
  12. Hey guys. Not a lot to report....fighting a nasty cold and trying to maintain my sweet charming disposition. (Hah). Will try to get the Xmas tree up today but doubt it could ever top JL's traffic stopping effort. Try to check back in a while.....cheers.
  13. No beating you up on these comments, Jim. The applications of speakers do make a difference to me. I'm a lifelong Heritage guy and use Cornwalls in our 2 ch system. BUT I have no present intention of moving them into our HT system where I have an all KLF lineup. I like the refinement of the Corn for listening and the explosiveness of the KLF for HT - and would probably like the RF-7 for the same reason. It's not a cop out to say it's subjective, because it is, in fact, subjective. Will I experiment and change out speakers in the future? Probably, but for now this configuration is working for me.
  14. Back again, gang. Unexpectedly pulled into work duty yesterday by a client. Goal of full retirement keeps getting derailed, but hard to say 'no'. Been off the booze so long there's not much for me to share in that department ...except I had more than my share (a little play on words there). Not too clever either. Got into a rock 'n roll classics mode on the B last night ..... played Elvis, Carol King, Roy Orbison, doo-*** stuff, etc. Always fun to play. We even went to a DVD of Orbison's 1972 Australia concert to end the evening. Tarheel - On Big Ben .... no reason to be jealous!! Later guys.
  15. My first stab at a HT system was 16 or so years ago and included KLF 30's as the main speakers in corners. They seemed to blend in the room and not intrude. I'd think the same could be true for large Heritage speakers, depending on room configuration. If not, then maybe 4 Heresys, a decent center and a small sub would help with the WAF. My 2 channel system, in another house, now has a pair of Cornwalls in a room smaller than yours!
  16. Some of the higher end Focals are pretty darn good and worth a listen, but my experience with them is too limited to make any conclusion.
  17. Happy Wednesday, all. Taking some positive steps today to get me closer to full (instead of "semi") retirement. Will fill in later. Probably out of pocket most of the day and will try to check in later.
  18. RIP. He will be missed. Got to see him at 4 Stones concerts. Always spot on.
  19. That sort of thing is SUCH a pain in the butt (being careful of the censor here). I usually need to 'consult' with my better half's kid nephew who is patient but gives you that look as if you had 2 heads. We may be music lovers (in my case even a musician) but that don't make us IT guys. Let us know how this project is going.
  20. 'Christmas on the Rhine' .... ancient ('50's?) vinyl with German carols. Hard to find and probably never made it to cd's. If you see a copy in a used vinyl store, gargae sale, etc., grab it.
  21. I sure missed lot in the last half day or so and most of what I missed is NOT on my diet .... bread & butter, tacos and Jake's green beans!! What a combo platter, huh?!? Good morning to all my coffee buds. Will try to check back more often today.
  22. Happy Tuesday, guys. Must have one of those addictive personalities... the day did not seem complete without checking in here a few times yesterday. Turkey hangover is gone and planning to get off the sofa today. 1 cup down and another poured.
  23. My Klipsch speakers are only loud when I turn up the volume. They play soft musical passages very well even at low volumes. On the other hand, I've heard so-called "audiophile" speakers which mute the highs and generally dumb down the musical experience in order (I assume) for their audiophile listeners to avoid suffering the "fatigue" of hearing something akin to live music. Poor things.
  24. Mornin' everybody!! Had trouble connecting earlier. Had a laid back Sunday .... football, cooking with better half, played a few tunes, etc. Baxter has really settled in to his new digs and a really good personality has emerged as we hoped for. Still need to get pics to post. Think I'll avoid Del Taco for lunch. Something about it always looked dangerous. Good to see you all posting and upbeat. 2 cups down and gotta get ready for the day. Later....

    KLF C-7

I think you will like this center. Picked mine up a couple years back to complete a 5.1 KLF system. And ... that is a great price. Have seen them listed for 300. Good luck with it.
