  1. Hey, Chuck, Yes, another Forum member purchased them a couple of days ago. Darn, the KLF-30s sound good, don't they?!
  2. Glad you got them! I have 30s, too, and drove from St. Louis to KC to pick them up. Great speakers. Have you heard them, or are you going on what you've read about them? I did not have prior experience (beyond the 20s I had that became the surrounds, after I purchased the 30s) with them, but took a calculated risk that they would be just fine. They are much more than "fine".
  3. Hey, Avguy, congratulations on finding the 30s! Don't suppose that it was the pair just on Ebay, in Texas?
  4. Hey, Gary, maybe if he gets a good center, he won't be sitting dead in the water, and all alone . . . . My $0.02!
  5. To DaBomb, Welcome! Like you, I have read a lot of posts about this/these issues, too. I surely am NO EXPERT, so I offer only opinion: People (typically) have strong opinions at just about every point along the continuum. You know, the way they do it is about as perfect as is possible (perfection occasionally actually being possible)! The passion is fun for the participants. Toe it/them in just 1/3 of a degree more, move the left speaker back 1/4" and, voila! From barely tolerable to (near) perfection. For that particular spot/area of listening. Of course, be somewhere else in the room, or just passing through (in a large-enough area that allows it), and the result may be very different. To go to all the effort and various gymnastics to attempt to produce a wonderful "sweetspot"/area that could be produced very simply in reality. My question is why (outside of the fun of the effort and the discussions)? I mean, how often--if at all--can a good center (timbre and volume-matched) NOT enhance the delivery of primarily vocals? Literally, providing good horizontal and vertical delivery in the center of the action. Could be that my opinion reflects an insufficient immersion in the technicalities and equipmental possibilities, much less the joys of the endeavor. Could also be that my "senior" ears appreciate not having volume attempting to compensate for clarity wherever I am in a room. It is likely that some remedial instruction will follow this post, but, that is the fun and the profit, right?
  6. Funny! And of course, the truth is that the Epic CF-3/4 and the KLF 10/20/30 ALL are wonderful speakers. That said, think I'll have one more "little" swallow of sour mash and call it a night! 'Til tomorrow.
  7. Probably right. Boy, I bet they sound magnificent, too. As I listen to my KG 4.2s (an active 10" and a passive 10") in my office w/ my center, I can only imagine how wonderful they sound.
  8. Thanks, Sancho, Thought I was experiencing a "senior moment" when I first mentioned that . . . .
  9. Great! Will you be a potential buyer, or are you only going to kick the tires? Not an Ebay expert, but I think that they can remove them from the process if there has been no bid.
  10. Boxx, you are right about Austin. Have been there once (2 years ago), and thoroughly enjoyed it!
  11. Howdy, everyone, Was surfing on Ebay, and found this listing at a Salvation Army store in Austin. Anybody in that general area? Obvious cosmetic work to be done. But the speakers themselves appear to be good. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Klipsch-KLF-30-Speakers-Home-Audio-Floorstanding-Loudspeaker-Main-Tower-LOCAL-PU-/321481969399?pt=Speakers_Subwoofers&hash=item4ad9d18ef7#viTabs_0 Any thoughts about the price/condition ($299/as is)? I have KLF-30s and 20s and love them!
  12. Matt, Great buy! I have 4 towers in my great room (2 KLF-30s up front, and 2 KLF-20s as surrounds). Love them. Do you not want the size or the look of 4 towers? Do you have an adjoining room where you or someone else goes in or through frequently? Could you run wiring for the bookshelves (run them as wides or highs) so that you have seamless sound? Anyway, good "problem" to have! Jim
  13. Golden, didn't exactly answer your question. Try to talk the seller down a little, be happy with whatever success you have, and purchase the 20s. They are wonderful and full sounding!
  14. Hey, Golden, I have the 20s as surrrounds, to go with my 30s as fronts. But, be pleased and satisfied--you have WONDERFUL speakers with full, powerful, rich, wide-ranging, and nuanced sound. ENJOY!
  15. Well, Big Stew, you obviously are a man of very refined taste, and marvelous human insight. However, I suspect that one or two others (and maybe more) are quite confident in their capabilities and worthiness . . . .
  16. Oh, yes, I am sure that many worthwhile discussions might be had about the "greatest" or "most enjoyable" football teams, but the Raiders have to be among the few final contestants. They had innumerable winners on their teams over the years, they did it with style! St. Louis really is a very livable city, with many great institutions and distinct ethnic/populations groups. And it is very affordable.
  17. Ahhhh, the Raiders. Lived in San Francisco, then San Mateo from 1961-1966. How I loved to watch/listen (on the radio, if you can imagine). Art Powell (occasionally, the defending team would put up to 4 men on him), Tom Flores, and too many memorable players to recite here. Gus Otto actually lives here in the St. Louis area. And remember Otis Sistrunk (back in the day when the players would be introduced by running through the two-posted goal post, stop, and stand with his helmet under his left arm to be announced by name and university attended. Big Otis, shaved head before it became popular, scowl on his face. Especially after Alex Karras doing the intro on TV introduced him as "Otis Sistrunk, University of Mars").
  18. Et, la vie, c'est un cadeau le plus grand de tout! Merci, mon Dieu!
  19. Have we strayed from the topic a bit? I look forward to the upcoming posts that add to it in respectable ways . . . . My $0.02, anyway.
  20. Exactly! Do the one thing today that you KNOW (so much better than "hoping") will have the most favorable and eternal outcome.
  21. Hi, Ski, Yup, a lot of the comments do center around physical health and ageing. And a lot of them go beyond that, too (shown below). I guess that as I am likely in the oldest 20% or so of the posters here on the Forum, and I see some introspective and "philosophical" ideas talked about, I am reminded forcefully that each one of us is able to decide his own eternity, on any one of the days that we are unable to number. So, yes! To our good health--all of it--and to traveling through life in confidence, good cheer, and gratitude! " Maybe I should just keep marching onward with blinders newly adjusted"-- #1 "Life. round and round we go... where it stops, nobody knows."-- #5 " . . . the one thing that you will have your whole life?"-- #6 "I try to view this life as a journey to be enjoyed, not a destination. When I do that I can take in the gifts today brings. I think that's the deal - stay in today and in the moment."-- #7 "Getting old sucks but the alternative really sucks and is permanent."-- #8 "I'm truly blessed with an amazing wife and 4 wonderful (well most of the time) children. I'm excited about the life I'm now living and even more for the one to come. :D"-- #15
  22. Hi, Scrappy, and others, So much is beyond our control. And, in fact, who among us can say with absolute certainty that anything we do will make a difference in anything, 1000 years in the future? Or, 500, or 100? Each of us is able to, each of us has the option and the opportunity, but who among us will? Specifically, I ask anyone who reads this, has he specifically chosen to act upon the ONE way to a glorious eternity? That way being to delight in Jesus Christ as the One Way to the Father? To recognize our natural state, to confess it to God, to repent genuinely, and to seek God, love Him, obey, and ask His forgiveness? Simple (as Truth really is), the most profound and productive, and the most life and world changing act of which we are capable. I do ask God to bless all those who read this, that they might benefit eternally from it!
  23. $125?! Interesting to know why. The one I mentioned last night is in Phoenix, AZ, and now has been on CL for 3 days.
  24. Thanks, Youthman. Seeing this item last night, in its apparent condition and at that price, made me want to alert any reader who might be interested (esp. in the Phoenix area). Somebody is going to get a fine deal!
