  1. Well when i was looking to buy new in 1980 i listened to Belle and Scala side by side and i hate to say it but i didnt like the Belle on female voices the Scala sounded much better. But i actually wanted the Belles but when you compare price to sound the Scalas beat them not by much mind you.But Belles were made for beauty and they do that dont they nothing against them or anyone who likes them, just my view.Rick
  2. Yea i would say Honda my son and his friends treat their Hondas like crap but they always keep going where most cars would have died.My son bought 88 crx and runs it into the ground i cant imagine how good this car was when it was new it still runs like a scared rabbit.Rick
  3. If you take the horn out you might try the idea Andy mentioned a long time ago...there are seams and rough stuff in the throat of the horn,,,i rigged up a long rod with emry cloth on it and smoothed the whole inside of mine down.I was using this industrial enamel from lowes for the sides of Ks im redoing it stays flexable ,,,so i tried it on one horn and it seemed to help the ringing ,although i dont think they ring when installed ..but i could be wrong.Rick
  4. We will need pics if possible and you will need to see pics of crossovers and schematics to.If the wires are all messed up and you dont know much about crossovers wait till some of us reply with pics,,,you can ruin tweeters very easy if not already blown. The wiring is basic stuff but looks hard at first just wait if you can till your sure.Rick
  5. Yes they are just resting on top but Klipsch did use some sticky stuff between so it may take alittle force. When you get them home if the tailboard seal is not there go get some 1/2 inch pipe insulation and seal tail board and the horz. bass binn board to the wall.Rick
  6. Why cant you order the K-33 from Klipsch? or have one of us get them and ship them to you? Rick
  7. I used parts express repair kit it comes with everything you need and worked well i think.First one i ever did and came out perfect.Rick
  8. I cleaned all my HKs with the stuff radio shack like Andy said to,,,it works great and still working great. So take alook at Andys post and do it.Rick
  9. Gregg i have been thinking on your problem about your K-Horn problem about lack of bass.In the process of rebuilding the ones i got i found out the airchamber had big leaks also when i reinstalled the woofer mount i noticed there is alot of room foor misalignment.Solution....i sealed the air chamber with silicone and wood glue dripped into the wings sides when i did this glue actually ran out into the throat of the bass bin had to turn bass bin upside down to do this on both ends though...big leak huh. Then on the alignment problem i measured the slot on the mount and on the motor board drew lines where it would make the slot exactly in the center...it is possible to get this way off if you dont do this... it moves about 3/4 of an inch if i remember right. If you want to check the airtightness of the airchamber its easy to do.Rick
  10. Grippers...from wal-mart are little pads for furniture Andy told me about them for my Scalas...they kinda dampen and grip the floor, hard to explain but i think they do work good.Kinda hooks up the speaker to the floor without vibrations getting to the floor....Rick
  11. Hey Mike when i read about you throwing that printer i about fell out of my chair laughing. It reminded me of a day at my previous job at Solo cup co. i threw this part of my machine cause i was pissed at it,,,but didnt know plant manager was about 5 inches from getting whacked with it.He smiled at me and said you feel better now,,,i said yea.. we both laughed he said be more carefull next time ok cause he knew i needed to throw something. When i get frustrated and its nice outside i hop on my Bicycle and put my walkman on and im gone for hours on end i ride to the R/C airfield watch the planes, got to slotcar raceway, whatever just go do something you like.Did you ever get into slotcars as a kid i think there are some raceways by you, none close to me anymore. You never mention anything else you like to do what would some be? By the way you can call me anytime im home 816-331-0143 i work 4-12pm though since Solo cup closed the plant here had to start over as new guy in new factory.Well thanks for the laugh about that printer was great after my long day at work,,,lol,,,rick
  12. Hi Mike i got an idea for you...Im 47 and wasnt getting the overtime i needed so i stopped by a cycle shop to try get part time job at something i know a little about. He said he had tried younger people did not work out i agreed to work for small pay in order to learn the trade.Seems to like me and i like the job its not great pay but the idea of doing something you like is best i think. He is trying to get me on the floor to sell some high end bikes will give me 2% if i do i never did sales or even retail before so im lost out on the floor..lol.Just an idea for you to think about....Rick
  13. http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=095-663 these will fit.Rick
  14. What do the new ones look like now?Can you post a pic?...Rick ps what you going to do with the old ones?
  15. I thought they were #6 but lastnight was to tired to go look,,,lol,,sorry.Rick
  16. Try some Grippers ,,,from wal-mart here not sure where you would look.I put Grippers on my Scalas and one in the middle of the acess panel on bottom which i think helps alot.I got wood floors and it made Scalas alot better.just a thought.Rick
  17. The part number above will allow you to put big wire onto the small terminal its so i big i had to fold over 12GA wire to solder it in. But it will fit the little screw barrier strip...and looks cool with a stainless steel allen head bolt.Rick
  18. Ok this is going to be easy..order parts express #095-663 then go to westlake hardware and get stainless steel allen head bolts #8 i think.. and some small brass washers. This will be better set up than those little screws.Rick
  19. Bloss speakers in a good room beating my Heresys in a bad room...i dont think so....Rick
  20. Andy says those mid drivers are tough so i would check every wire..screw..connection first. Rick
  21. You would only have to remove about a foot of the basboard heater i think. The idea of raising the Ks up is good you could get 3/4 oak plywood or just use some of that oak flooring on a regular piece of plywood would look cool. That would also keep the heat off the speaker it could be made to look very nice and also have storage under the speaker to like a DVD,cd rack.Rick
  22. I forgot to say you need to pre drill the oak base shoe glue it together then brad nail it on.Then measure for your grill backing board, glue and staple cloth on then put those little square velcro patches on to hold it.Rick
  23. One of the shows i liked was about a sword that the guy played with when he was little,,,cutting watermellons and such. The the road show guy puts on gloves hands owner gloves and says you might want to wear these when touching this sword....lol...turns out it was one of two he ever saw and said some high value and the owner went numb.Rick
  24. What i would do is buy some Oak Base shoe moulding and then make grills with backer board and use velcro to fasten the grill to the speaker.I did this to my Scalas your Heresys look like they used whats called screen door trim just like the old Scalas did.The base shoe moulding is just thick enough to make the grill flush looks good to.Rick
