  1. I added some wheels to the free standing corners for my bi-amped Klipschorns, so I can easily roll them out onto the driveway. There is one regular wheel and two locking swivel casters. These K-horns sound so good out here in the garage, it really highlights how much the room affects the sound quality. .
  2. Yes I read the part about using a single frequency tone for the sake of the common volt meter, but I wonder about the perceptual bias of the results of the test, based on the different loads.
  3. I have not done the test, but while reading its instructions, Use the highest setting you found when playing back music really loud and leave the volume there for the following measurement. Playback the test tone and measure the voltage at your speaker terminals. Measure at the amp or at the speaker, either is fine. Post the voltage you measured. I considered that full range, dynamic music will need more power than a steady state, single frequency 220Hz test tone at the same volume control setting. The test might be more realistic if the voltage is measured while comparing the music setting vs. pink noise at matching SPLs.
  4. The 18" subwoofer drivers created a visual distraction from the KPT symmetry, so I have hidden them behind some wood window louvers.
  5. Starting in 1983, the tweeters got "Z" brackets that moved the original style tweeter out to the front surface of the motor-board. Then in 2001, the newer one piece tweeter in your picture was introduced. They both require the larger opening. You have an earlier model K-horn, so you will need get some regular K-77s, or a pair of the highly recommended Crites CT-120 tweeters.
  6. Darn, with all these big speakers needing the room, I just did a remodel, utilizing a one cup space-saving toilet.
  7. Better to have air space between the speaker and the duct. Something like a thin layer of Dyna-Mat on the ducting could be helpful to reduce unwanted vibrations. If you loosen the screws a few turns, the mounting ears should swing out of the way, allowing the speaker to drop out of the ceiling hole.
  8. The conical remote control extenders are useful when you want to store your remote controlled equipment out of sight. One unit is placed behind the door, directly in front of the device to be controlled, and the transmitter unit is set somewhere in the room where it can "see" your hand-held IR remote. These are RF wireless, but still need a wall outlet for power.
  9. All the big pieces are starting to fit together. I will need to move one port and four rubber feet to the new bottom.
  10. The 415 woofer cabinets can be wired for different loads. Each pair, parallel connection inside the cabinet. Both pairs with the external parallel jumpers. Both parallel pairs in series. Series is good for my home theater.
  11. The Klipsch/Pro website lists my speakers as surrounds, so I will need to place a pair in the back corners of the room.
  12. Gift idea for the extreme audio enthusiast on your Christmas list. https://www.yankodesign.com/2019/11/20/a-vinyl-turntable-inspired-washbasin-to-hit-you-with-a-wave-of-nostalgia/
  13. Maybe something like this peel and stick Red Oak veneer from Rockler.com could work for you. https://www.rockler.com/cabinet-refacing-banding 2 3/8" x 25' is the correct width and length for one pair of K-402s. Just stain to match your bass cabinets, cut the corner miters with a razor knife and then apply directly to the flat flange perimeter on the face of the horns.
  14. After the speaker positions are arranged for the best sound, I will work on color matching the whole set.
  15. The center speaker bass bin will be turned on its side during the next stage of progress. Right now it can be pulled in and out without disturbing the amps and all the wires in the cabinet above it.
  16. I have seen pictures of the work on your outside bar. Adding some trim to the speakers should be easy for you.
  17. So this is part of the reason that the Klipschorns with the simple crossover networks sound good to so many people.
  18. I understand. Lucky for us that the Klipsch forum has the best members and the finest moderators.
  19. Listening to Pink Floyd as I break loose Another Brick in the Wall.
