  1. Doc, are you using the HF200 in a 2, or 3 way configuration? I guess 4 or 5 is possible too, but you know what I mean.
  2. Yes. This is one of my side channels. This is one of Claude's original prototypes. It is a little smaller than the current design. Dang, even vertical the WAF is a negative number. True. However mine live in the basement so its ok. They look a bit better vertical and painted up a bit better. Here are the front mid and right. Still not going to look right in the living room though. Trom, those look great, nicely done. But I'm afraid in our front room, they'd have sleeping on couch written all over them.
  3. Mc, nice! I like the sound of your system. You've chosen some great gear to refurb and I think you'll like the 5004, its what I'm using with a Jolida DAC. Keep on having fun.

  5. I'm curious, what midrange driver/horn combo are you using to cross that low? _______________________________________________________________________ Also, Claude, can the 1/4 pie be used vertically?
  6. Finally got a chance to play this yesterday, in fact I played it 3 times. Very nice, dramatic, with huge dynamic range. My 17 year old son, Matt, really liked it. His terms were "powerful and eerie." I wish I had had as good of taste in music when I was Matt's age, but then I didn't spend 6 years in orchestra playing violin either. Doc, thanks for the heads up on this.
  7. So this is a complete custom horn. Pretty cool.
  8. You are correct, kerf cuts work excellent with most plywoods. Can layers of thinner plywood work also? Certainly, 1/8" ply bends well as long as your radius isn't too tight. Of course you also need to devise a clamping strategy or use a vacuum bag system. The last time I bought kerfcore it was pricey, as in more expensive than 1/2" bending ply. But the kerfcore was 3/4" thick, so in some applications that might matter.
  9. 1/2" bending ply (3 layer IIRC) and 3/4" kerfcore both work well. But you can kerf plywood yourself pretty easily.
  10. Wow! What, if anything is known about these bass bins?
  11. Nice. But why the bullnose vs the sharp V?
  12. No.... Dang bumps..... I need to keep a look out for those. Sorry, mang.
  13. A lot of recordings simply sound like crap, and a convoluted chain of band-aids between you and said crappy recording won't change that.

I'm just waiting for some dope from one of the alphabet agencies to say that fear of ebola is racist.

Looks like they might have a case in D.C. Maybe that will wake someone in charge up. I'm not holding my breath.
  16. If sales are going up and pressing plants are running at full capacity then how can one say "its circling the drain?" Will it over take digital? No way, but it doesn't have to to remain viable. Most music today is listened to through ear buds off an ipod, I wouldn't call that superior just because of its wide use.
  17. Nah, not much on rap or hip hop, too old I guess. No I think the soundtrack will be great.
  18. I'm no expert, but i just cut cables to the needed length and call it good.
  19. Resolving systems and critical listeners can discern these things. It ain't for everyone..... Shakey Um, so speaker cables on the floor matters? F that.

My wife is an RN and I'll be starting an RN program within the next year or so. Facts are crucial in the healthcare realm. Nice Thad, so is mine, has her masters in oncology nursing (or whatever you call it.) This is a bad deal.
  21. Thanks, brother, got it ordered. Now I need to re-watch the film, haven't seen it in years.
  22. Doc, is this the version you referenced? http://smile.amazon.com/Vertigo-Original-Motion-Picture-Re-recording/dp/B0000014WI/ref=sr_1_2?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1412168256&sr=1-2&keywords=vertigo+soundtrack And yes, theres no substitute for big arn!

Agreed, but apparently that makes too much sense.
