  1. I have worked since I am 9 years old,and am 48 now. I worked delivering 150 newspapers a day for 6 days a week. When I turned 12, I worked in a laundry mat washing and folding other peoples clothes for 0.50 a load. When I turned 14, I worked in a restaurant as a dishwasher and salad maker as well as bussing tables. At 16, I moved out of my house and on my own and went to school full time and worked a full time job from 4 PM to 1 AM 6 days a week in a pizzeria. And this was without having a wife and kids. I did not get the opportunity to go to college or play sports, or even hang out and go out to clubs due to my responsibility to myself. I worked all kinds of odd jobs and became a Union painter and also was in the Teamsters before getting into the stock industry as a broker. My career as a broker was cut short due to a company I had worked at for 2 months that did an illegal IPO and everyone lost their licenses. I then became a real estate agent and then broker and opened my company a year after getting into the industry by hiring a broker to "run" the office until I could get my broker's license. In between losing my license as a stock broker I had triplets who are now 15 and will be 16 in March, and had another child who is now 12.And during the time frame of losing the brokers license and getting the real estate license, I had to go back and forth through the courts for 7 years on the stock issue to be settled and in all that time frame all I did was hustle. This guy is funny and at the same time is a joke, as an adult and someone with a family you do what's needed, not what will make you feel embarrassed. I would never hesitate to work a job in McDonald's or Wal Mart if that's what was needed to put food on the table or contribute to my wife's working. And at the same time my thought process would be to tell the so called "friends" FU if they were to laugh or ridicule me as they are not the ones putting food on my table or paying my bills. To me it's laziness not taking a job for whatever it is in order to keep a status.

    What I Got Today!

After a long wait I finally received my AR-XA modified with all new wiring, caps, upgraded motor, suspension, plinth, and a few other goodies. But when it came it had a wiring issue. Rather than return it, I decided to redo the arm. The seller agreed to pay for the wiring issues, so it saved both of us time and effort. So instead of damaging the table with the new arm, I decided to have the wiring issue fixed and took the table and re-plinthed it and did the other with the new arm. Both tables have powder coated top plates, Cardas wiring throughout, and upgraded arm tubes and head shells. I even took an original head shell and had it modified to fit the SME tube and attachment. The table on the left is what I'm keeping and has a Sumiko MMT arm, and the one on the right is up for sale in the garage sale section. It has the stock arm that was modded with sapphire bearings, polished screws for the arm, wiring, and dampened with cotton in the tube. The arm bearing and platter bearings were polished and cleaned as well. Both sound amazing and are super quiet. I have an Ariston RD-11 Superior being redone and if I wasn't getting that table, would keep the one on the right. Hopefully after the Ariston is finished, I will also be finished with my turntable fetish.
  3. Tables plinth was refinished with Hawaiian Koa veneer over the original plinth, the top is powder coated and has an after market arm rest. The arm was rewired in Cardas as well as new wiring underneath and new caps, and has the bearings upgraded in sapphire. The center platter is dampened with cork and outer platter is done over in brushed aluminum. The inner was also polished smooth as well as the tone arms spindle.Springs aren't stock, but not the top of the line and it has gold plated RCA plates, and upgraded power supply plug, and a custom bottom base with rubber feet. There is a patheway mat included. It also has the upgraded SME tube and Technics type head shell with the arm dampened with cotton on the inside of the tube. The counterweight has been polished as well, and I will include an extra heavy custom counterweight that's 25 grams more than the original.New belt . Motor was rebuilt. All wiring and caps are new. I'm selling it with an Ortofon VMS 3E cartridge just so the table has a cartridge. The table was built by Larry Spence then redone by Steve Frosten and was actually built as I decided on a different arm, so instead of damaging the table by drilling out the top plate to fit the arm,and throwing out the rest of the table or piece selling it, I decided to take the table and put it into the plinth it's in now. I did not want to mess this table up,so decided to take the other plinth and build one from scratch Anyone who knows XA tables should know Steve's work. Table has no cover, but I will include a Dual cover free,it is oversized in the rear, but will keep the table dust free until one is purchased. There are a few slight imperfections on the veneer which is shown in pictures, and pictures show the head shell included along with an original one which is not included. The table is a single motor table and less than 1 week complete. Paypal preferred. I can ship if needed for an additional $45.00. Table will be insured if shipped and packed professionally.
  4. Vondy, I had the same issue with mine and sold them recently. They just weren't for me. I used them with and without the upgrades. Sometimes your ears just don't like what others think sound good or bad. They weren't bad, but they just weren't for me.

    What I Got Today!

Customized AR-XA in a solid cherry wood plinth with rounded corners.Upgraded the bearings with sapphire, SME S-shaped tube,Technics head shell, upgraded springs and suspension dampening, polished platter, redone motor, and just added a Grado 8MZ to it with the original head shell modded to screw onto the SME tube. Some already know the builder of this table and have some of his product. The second one is also finished and had adjustable feet added on for ease of leveling as well as having the platter done in brushed aluminum to match the feet . More mods were done to the suspension and t-bar.A few on here also know the builder of this table and have his product. Also added a pair of Vandersteen 2ci speakers. The next table is going to be modified with a different arm and may be a slightly beefier table.
  6. what model number are you looking for? I have an RX-A2020 I may be willing to part with. Original remote, and set up mic,and still has1-2 years left on aftermarket warranty through squaretrade.
  7. Going with the Vandersteens, hopefully picking up this weekend.
  8. 2 feet by 8 feet per shgeet, 2 sheets raw backing. 1/40th thickness
  9. Actually yes, it seems most people don't want to take on the project, so yes I would.
  10. I just try to make sure I only spend old money after selling something.
  11. The only thing I have going for me is that I can do whatever I want in my family room as it's my home office/man cave.I'm the only one who uses it. So I can experiment with things more, hence being able to use the cardas method of speaker placement and bringing them out into the room. Otherwise, they'd be like everything in the living room and bedroom. Stationary against the walls for the most part.
  12. I'm more classic rock, but also mixed as well besides the jazz/rap, so they fill that spectrum nice. But I can't place them where I want with how I'm looking to set up my room.
  13. Grizzog, It's more the tops that are the issue, I was going to just redo them in black as well, and sanding them to be flat isn't an issue, because all you'd have to di is lay down a piece of veneer on the tops if you sanded through the original veneer. The bottom most likely can be turned to the back, or redone over.
  14. I'm looking at either Vandersteens or Maggies. I may wind up just finishing these off and putting them into my bedroom for my HT/TV purposes and just sell the KG 4.2's. I'm going to give it 2 weeks total and if they don't sell may just pull them and put up the KG's. Both sets were done with the Crites crossovers, but the forte II's have the titanium diaphrams.
  15. The deer hide is excellent on keeping the static down on records and a good insulator against noise coming from the platter. You get better response overall with them. I have a double suede mat now and it's one of the best investments IMO for a platter.
  16. I paid $200.00 for the stock XA I have. I usually try to sell then buy in order to try out different things with the same money. That's why I just put up my forte II's for sale.
  17. yes, I remember it having better bass than my 701 and the 506-1 I had. So I had all 3 from them, idler, belt, and DD.
  18. Selling my Klipsch forte II's that have the Crites crossovers and titanium tweeter diaphrams. They also have the original diaphrams and crossovers. I will also throw in the Brazilian Rosewood veneer I purchased for them to redo the cabinets. The cabinets are in fair condition with some water damage done to the tops and on one of the risers from the prior owner putting plants on them. No issues with any of the drivers or horns, they play as they should. The veneer alone was $175.00 and everyone knows the cost of the Crites upgrades. No shipping unless buyer takes it on their own to contact shipping company and sets up for them to package them. I will drop off locally and bubble wrap them if needed. If using paypal please add on the 3% fee.
  19. If you're looking for something you can upgrade as you go along, I'd look at an AR-XA table. They sound good stock, and as you upgrade them they can match up against many tables in the upper price ranges of $1500-2000.00,and then some. I went through about 25 tables over the last 2 years playing around to see what I liked, and I've bought 2 XA's, one in my profile pic, and a stock one that I will be upgrading as well. They are extremely easy to maintain and work on. You can find good decent ones on the bay for about $200.00. Then as you upgrade, you can go on Audio Karma and look up Steve Frosten and Marc Morin as well as Larry Spence. The stock XA table's headshell is a little funny to deal with, but they are extremely quiet and are belt drive tables.Upgrading the tone arm alone will bring the table up several notches and the upgrade for that is less than $200.00. Just an option.
  20. Social Distortion if you're into fast paced guitar playing and punkish rock, Brian Setzer Orchestra, The Offspring, U2, Judas Priest, Metallica, to name a few. With friends like you, who needs enemies? You ain't right, you ain't never gonna be, You're out of the car, I'm afraid you've been declined. You shake my hand, while you're pissing on my leg I'm cuttin you loose, I don't need this misery Your soul is toxic, you ain't no friend of mine. You talk real trash when I'm not around To build yourself up, you gotta to tear me down. You'll have to excuse me, I've got better things to do. You smile through your teeth, you talk out your neck Every chance you get you're gonna stab my back. Your time's run out, I've got nothing left for you... [Chorus:] I'm leaving you far behind. I'm leaving you far behind. Stop wasting all, all my time. I'm leaving you far behind. So I'm pulling out the weeds, I'm taking stock You can talk the talk, but can't walk the walk Your narcissistic ways have gotten the best of you. So I'm leaving you to sink, in all your glory For you and me it's the end of the story. Get out of my way, I've got better things to do... [Chorus x3] With friends like you, who needs enemies? You ain't right, you ain't never gonna be Your soul is toxic, you ain't no friend of mine.
  21. mr. pee, Depending on the cartridge, that would be where I would look to upgrade, also on the phono pre amp. Those two things will make a big difference. On the table, if you do decide to upgrade what is your price range?
  22. Fido, Idler's from what I've heard are better with bass than belt drives.
