  1. There is one in LaCrosse wisco where I grew up, there will people waiting for them at their meeting, non-supporters to say the least
  2. I just recently got a pair of RS-42ii's($330) to go with a rf7 and rc64 combo and it does a fine job. I always suggest bigger is better, but the 42's can hang with the rf-7's no problem, so smaller can do the job if budget is tight.
  3. Thanks, there aren't any on ebay. And now I'm registered on another site to spend money lol. I'm going to do some more looking and research on what a new cd player would add to my system if any. If I'm using a digital connection, would it really make a difference? Wouldn't any cd player send the same digital signal to my Denon for processing? Or is this one of those endless arguements like external amplification or all amps sound the same. Thanks again for your replys, info, and links
  4. Does your receiver have all three types of inputs? An older CD player will just have analog, coaxial or optical output...optical/coax would probably be the best bet for input to the receiver...it may not have a coaxial input, however. Maybe a blue ray player that will play redbook CDs with good audio quality through HDMI? My HK is a 2006ish SACD/DVD player and has HDMI and Optical. I use it only to play cd's, but like the osd. This is the highest end "cd" player I've had. It might be better than some. I have no frame of reference and basically wondering if an upgrade in audio is possible by connections or a dedicated cd player for around 100-150$ If the additional $ spent wouldn't make a significant upgrade, I would more than likely not purchase. Thanks again. I have coax on avr and player. Would this be the recomended connection to try? and if so why
  5. I will look into them, are there any specs to look for that sets an average player from a great one. about $150 is the most was hoping to spend. I didn't have time to look close, but at best buy(which I hate) I was an Onkyo 5 disc for about 170. What do you use for audio connections
  6. I too listen CD's. Pretty much only cd's for music. I use a Harman Kardon DVD37, or 47, can't remember which. I have a couple questions if someone might chime in. Is there a good afordable cd player out there that doesn't break the bank that would be an upgrade over my current CD player? Not scred of the used market. I use HDMI currently, is there any advantage or disadvantage in audio in using HDMI, Optical, or analog? I use a 2.1 set up with 7ii's and r112 sub. Thanks
  7. There are several reasons for me. I love the ease of HDMI The cable clutter is cut in half. With using one cable instead of two. I only had to run one cable "in wall" to my mounted TV. Some people have 5(or more) different sources going to their avr. I only have 3 so not bad. Again though, one cable to the tv(in wall) I have 4 cables total to run my entire simple system. Using the receiver for video switching is convienent. For me it cuts out several remotes remotes. I could be wrong but optical only carries 5.1, I run 7.1 so I beleive I need hdmi to untilze this feature. The first avr i bought that had HDMI, it was so simple to set up, I over over complicated it due to my old practices of so many cables I drove myself nuts. When I figured it out, I said "that's it" lol Everyones set up and requirements are alittle different, it's nice that several options are out there to achieve what each person wants/needs
  8. I had the ss-1's for maybe 10 years and just figured "hey they're klipsch" they're ok, and with the 7's and 64 in front, I never realized what I was missing in the back. The ss1's were bought way back when I had Cerwin Vegas as a front stage lol. I should have tried hooking my rb51ii's in the rear to check the difference, but just kept building my front stage. I can say the 42ii's are a night and day difference., the most noticable upgrade I have made in my system. I sold the ss-1's mint for $175 shipped and got a great deal on new 42ii's for 310dlvd which made my upgrade a no brainer
  9. That is one fine mod you did there. When I heard about angling I first thought that would look like crap. That looks nice. I recently switched my surrounds from SS-1's to RS-42ii's, all I can say is wow, wow, wow. For technically just adding one more woofer the sound is incredibly different. Was the ss-1 that bad of a speaker, or is the 42ii that good of a speaker
  10. I'm not sure, if you can get a pics of the rear SF's, I'm guessing maybe the bigger ones might have 2 ports instead of one, which coul narrow it down for you Judging by the trim and outlet they are not all that big
  11. I had a rc-52ii woofer snap in shipping, I was selling, packered in original box. It happens a lot. Now I have a rc-51 lol Mint(minus 1 woofer)
  12. With a current budget of $350, I would keep your HK for now. I'm assuming at some point 4k and HDMI will come into play in your set up. There is no future proofing so your best option is to wait as long as you can until your needs dictate that it's time to buy. I just bought a used Denon (2113ci) for $175 that fits my current needs HDMI, 7.1. I looked at buying a new flagship model but I'll wait a couple years until 4k and HDMI bugs are cleaned up a little better, and the cost hopefully comes down. Nice system to get gifted to you, enjoy! I'm a huge fan of older HK, and a hater of any HK with HDMI
  13. Thanks, I really like what Emotiva is doing with quality, price point, customer service. I can only assume they will continue to grow if they keep those 3 in line. You will always have the guys that hate them because they are semi affordable great amps, not Mcintosh. But I will not hesitate, and look forward to my next experience with Emotiva
  14. Gen 1 No warranty, clean and well taken care of, I finally pulled the clear film off the front about a year ago lol
