thanks Dave. appreciate your input as well as Emile's. and as I'm typically slow to react when needing (more WANTING than needing. I'm sure you fellas know exactly what I mean.) WAF to spend the coin, this probably won't happen anytime soon. but again, doing what I do, I like to try to gather experienced advice to try to make the best possible informed decision.

I understand. mine, well my wife-to-be, has cut me off regarding speakers. she says NO MO. but she's also said "they don't get any bigger than the K horn, do they?" of course I answered with a BIG smile "oh yeah. here, check these babies out!!!" as you can see, right now our room just has little room for anything more. as a slight aside - I only recently became re-employed following a post murder merger downsizing. while job searching we were ready to move elsewhere if a good job dictated it. we didn't have to move. so that has become a hopeful elective possibility down the road. I would like something a little larger than we have now. WITH CORNERS 😎
-
@Emile I wish I could use a Heresy, 3rd Cornwall, or had other choices. but this is the setup that passed the WAF so this is what I have to work with.

gotcha. and I agree that using either my source (AVR) or even using 1 ch from my Acurus main amp (200w) I don't think would be really enough power to adequately drive a sub well. and thanks for the idea on your Dayton. hadn't thought or searching the bay, but excellent idea, given proper vetting prior to purchase. doing what I do, I made a list of what seemed to be most highly recommended center ch speakers. I do think eventually I'll be adding one of them too. may have a lot to offer. what I think I like at this point are, in order of my preference beginning with most preferred: 1) - KLF-C7; 2) - RC-64 ii 3) - RC-62 ii

@Cody_Mack correct. no 'actual' center speaker (at this time). down the road, maybe, but not right now. I like the current setup I have. the fiance thinks we need a center (or wants one). maybe we do. right now, I'm not convinced. I want the LFE/ lows particularly in the action movie genre we both enjoy. good luck in your search as well Rick. thanks! -John

@Emile - thanks for the feedback Emile. sounds like you like yours pretty well, positively impressed with sound, overall results, build quality - all that. by "passive" use - and I do ask that, as I'm not sure if I'm using the term correctly - I ask if I use the term correctly here, that this type kit would be a passive kit as in the amp is separate from the sub. as compared to for ex a R-115SW that I think has amp + speaker all in one so to speak that I also ask is that one an "active" sub? at any rate, thanks again for your contribution sir. you're ok. I don't care what everyone else says.

so I have decided (and been informed from comments/answers to previous questions) that I want to add at least 1 sub to my system, used 80% HT, Cornwall mains, phantom center, and R-28F rears. I'd love to go what seems to be really strong with an SVS or R-115SW but the fiance would be more willing to go along with cost of a DIY, and would probably like to get her hands in on the build too, so that could be a plus. I want to add as much low end for mostly movies as possible but size is a concern. size: I'm thinking a sealed or ported sub about the size of a 115sw. room: is an open concept floor plan, LR open to dining area & kitchen. LR area where tv/audio are = about 20 x 15. don't know height for sure but I think typical/standard 8' ceiling I've been goofing off at work, reading, searching and like this kit from PE: the Dayton Audio 15" Ultimax + cabinet bundle PE product link but I don't yet understand all the details of the specs etc. would some of you more experienced sub & DIY guys please share your thoughts on this or other suggestions, as well as, if I go something like this (this would be a passive sub, yes?) suggestion/recommendation for amp. the comments on the PE kit page have a few suggestions but I haven't checked into them yet. many thanks! -John

I have for many years admired SP's voice/ability to hit those high notes that he does/used to do. liked a few songs more than average, specifically my most fave Any Way You Want It for the guitar, especially the bridge/solo. love some great guitar work, and that piece does it for me.

For Sale - Velodyne F-1500 15" Subwoofer w/remote $250

why are these things always so far away... GLWYS. wish you were within a reasonable range of me -
for me - ABSOLUTELY dark. me likey the dark stuff. this stuff they call breakfast blend - wtf is that?!? that makes no sense to me. why is the breakfast blend weaker than the 'normal' blend. I do drink coffee cuz I like it, but I also drink it to get/keep me going. that weak stuff is just a waste of time, effort, etc.

^^^ it must be nice. but I must admit that on the weekends I do sometimes sleep in until 9. I don't think I do that very often, but I did last weekend. I had to work during a midnight maintenance window Thurs nite, didn't get home until 3 am Fri, so that threw things off schedule.
-
are you sure about that? seems at least a little bit ironic...
-
well - not saying this would happen. but in some instances, it might. if you had suffered immobilizing injuries - ex: broken leg, some head injuries, etc. - one could lie on the floor, the ground, etc. and still hear. but critically listen? yeah, maybe not.

hopefully you have figured out what lines not to cross by now. else they might be including you memories of you in the celebration at the beach

I've browsed thru their listings here & there before, and again now. I see they offer p/u in person as an option. do they allow inspection/testing prior to close of bidding, anyone know? just curious... to p/u a pair of Chorus at a bargain - what kind of score would that be ?!? 😮

a co-worker has his computer wallpaper set with this guy, and an edited version of this quote. his says (something like): 'there may come a day where your failure to plan requires an emergency on my part, but today is not that day.' in my world - PRICELESS !
-
ya, that would prolly 'splain it. got some items looking pretty good on pricing/bidding right now - keeping in mind the whole "as is where is" caveat for the auction.

Schu - so sorry to read of your loss. for me it was only a few years ago my fiance introduced me to what it was like to really HAVE a pet. 4 yrs ago, we helped one of ours as he crossed the bridge. it was so hard for me, and I know how hard it is for you guys. my heart goes out to you now. as others said above, as I read through your OP I had a feeling where it was going. and that's fine. we're glad you posted. and as others also said, I write this with tears in my eyes too. it is such a hard thing for us to do because we will miss them so. but as posted just above me - we are their everything, and I'm sure our lives are better because they are in it. sympathies, thoughts & prayers for you & Mom. we're with you.

but you don't have to join FB. he's on here. chat him up.

@ksquared - I saw over on the Klipsch owners FB page where Cory said he had some B stock Cornwalls. I don't think he posted a price, and that was probably 1-2 days ago. could be gone by now, or maybe not. chat him up here - Metropolis Lake Outfitters. I've corresponded with him here but I have had no deals to this point. there are others who have, and speak very highly of him. I would be inclined to give him next crack if my own searches turned up nothing.

I think they do but can't tell you how it works.

yeah well. my lady tells me I'd die trying to escape a wet paper bag. something tells me I would take it off once. that would be it. it would grow legs & disappear. I'm thinking with help but could probably never prove it, and would be in the dog house for trying to make the case. and so there I would be: once again just agreeing without a fight that without her, a paper bag jeopardizes my life.
-
oh I fully acknowledge that would likely mean more games. and I don't know the answer. a quick answer, probably VERY unpopular with presidents etc, would be to add playoff games at the expense of reg season games. but that cuts into home team revenue. I get that. IDK. no easy answer -> this seems apparent. had there been an easy fix - this talk would be moot, it would have already been put in use.

I've recently gotten the idea, and have told my fiance that I want a whistle. a real whistle, like referees use. I like the thought of it, but it would probably quickly get old. or lost. both? very possible.
