  1. There are many ways to stream. Before I got my Blusound Node 2i I streamed from my Yamaha AVR. Sometimes it worked and sometimes there were glitches. To me that was a PITA!!!!! Also playing thru my HT bypass of my Integrated amp made me have to control volume thru my AVR. Incorporating the Node 2i lets me run it from the Node to my Denefrips Dac and then to an aux input on my integrated so I can control thru integrated being able to use Triode or Ultralinear capabilities of my amp and volume controls. To me it sounds much better than directly thru my AVR and it isa far more stable connection. Hi res music thru wifi with never a drop and incredible sound quality song after song. Best thing that ever happened to my music enjoyment and not expensive either.
  2. It was nice chatting with you today and I'm so stoked you got the Node2i up and running. I hope you enjoy the endless supply of music you now have access to. I currently have over 120 Playlists on my Tidal account and build on the lists regularly. If I come across a song I don't really like I just delete it - I have even deleted a few playlists and if I find i'm missing out on something I cant find on Tidal I just use the Node2i to stream songs I could find on Spotify Stream ON!!!!
  3. I am happy! I inherited the Fortes from my father and love the way they sound as is but if anyone wants to modify their speakers they should go for it. I know you have done a lot of bracing on the speakers you have owned and love adding bracing and getting the floor standing speakers up off the ground and on to speaker stands. If that sounds better to you AWESOME! Everyone hears things differently and sometimes I have no clue what to even listen to. For me -its enjoying the music.
  4. why do people modify speaker cabinets when they have no idea what impact those modifications will do to the overall sound of a speaker? I have no added bracing on my 40 plus YO Fortes and have never thought they resonate too much or need extra bracing.
  5. I got my Denefrips Pontus, an old school Ladder Style DAC, a few days ago to mate with my Bluesound Node2i and my Primaluna Evo 400 and I must say it all sounds fantastic.WOW! I originally used the DACs built in the Node2i and then hooked up a Micromega Dac that I had about 5 years that didn't sound bad but the Denefrips Pontus just sounds so much better.And... of course everything in Audio is a rabbit hole -- but its sometimes fun going down the rabbit hole. Even more fun when the music sounds so good you cant stop listening. And its only $$$$ - Cant take it with you. I have hundreds of records and a nice Turntable and phono preamp and I love analog but the Denefrips /Node2i combo sounds pretty close to my phono setup.
  6. My Primaluna evo 400 Integrated has an HT pass thru but no Phono preamp - I use a really nice MUSICAL FIDELITY MX-VYNL PHONOSTAGE - best phono preamp Ive ever owned and I had some pretty good ones
  7. My Primaluna EVO 400 sounds amazing with my Fortespeakers - people were right when they said that Klipsch and tubes are like peanut butter and jelly
  8. I think people can build a really great sounding system without spending HUGE $$$$$ but it is easier to get great speakers, a fabulous Amp, good turntable and a good streamer and great DAC if you can afford higher quality components. Not impossible to achieve for a more modest investment but definitely not as easily as throwing some good $$$$ at a high end system.
  9. Having the Denefrips Pontus in my system the past few days has made the Bluesound Node 2i sound even better than it did with its built in DACs and my older Micromega Dac. Could it sound better? hmmm - WHO KNOWS!!!! All I know is that to my ears in my system the Node 2i sounds fantastic and i now just spend time building my Tidal Playlists and enjoy music hour after hour and it all sounds amazing to me. I really liked my Yamaha AVR and my Fortes and HSU sub - then I bought the Mcintosh MA252 Integrated and that sounded even better. Then - I went Primaluna and that Amp blows my mind - and I thought wow - Im where I want to be in my audio setup but had glitches with my AVR streaming software that sometimes didn't work and that was irritating. Deciding on the Node2i was a no brainer and hooking that up took literally minutes and have had no glitches streaming since purchasing it. Scouring the Internet I decided that a Ladder Dac was what I wanted to try and so the Denefrips was my latest addition and WOW -- I dont do measurements so I only know that the Pontus Dac sounds really good and so far I'm pretty damned happy = Happy Easter everyone and stay safe
  10. some people claim that several streamers, including the Node2i actually perform better thru wifi than hard wired - all I know is that i stream everyday thru the node 2i with no drops and the songs sound fantastic
  11. If all you need is just a music streamer the Bluesound node 2i is excellent and with a good dac the sound can be amazing. I live in a small townhouse so I don't use Sonos or Musicast etc to have different setups in different rooms. In my office I use my computer and KEF LS50 Wireless setup running Tidal. The Bluesound in my listening room is so easy to use that it works seamlessly and you can be up and running within minutes.

  13. I just got my Denefrips Pontus DAC and now have that hooked up to my Bluesound Node2i playing into my Primaluna Evo 400 into my fathers old Forte speakers and HSU subwoofer and damn doesn't it sound Spectacular!!!! So fun building these systems and merging yourself into the music
  14. My Vincent had a hum problem which many people claimed was a common occurrence. I think I could have trouble shooted it more with a NULL plug perhaps but didn't want to deal with troubleshooting it so I traded it in for a MUSICAL FIDELITY MX-VYNL PHONOSTAGE and it sounds fantastic with no hum at all - best phonstage I have ever owned and at Upscale Audio it was only $150 more than the Vincent
  15. I love my Bluesound Node2i and use it to stream mostly thru Tidal - I have made many playlists and have more music from my favorite artists than I have ever had thru all my other media options. To me it sounds fantastic but most of the music I listen to is CD quality. There isn't as much MQA content out there. Between my records and my Playlists i am so much more involved in music every day more than ever. I have an old DAC I hooked up and it still sounded great but I couldn't tell the difference between my Older DAC and the built in DACs of the Node2i. Sometime this week my Denefrips Pontus DAC arrives and I'm excited to hear it with my Node2i. one thing though - I control the Bluesound software thru my iPhone or pad - I dont know if you can use the Node2i without a smartphone or Ipad??????????? Stuck in the house not being able to do my professional photography work I have loaded up over 160 playlists so far.
  16. cant be You cant be that poor if you can buy a $5000 Streamer/Dac - but that looks brand new and reviews very highly - GLWS - Wish I didn't have a new DAC on order and had already bought the Bluesound Node2i
  17. that Veneer job is fantastic - Kudos! - great looking transformation and I'm a big fan of Cane grills - did cane grills on my Fortes and my HIPs
  18. Every time I play music thru my EVO 400 I am completely amazed how good it sounds and how "Nothing I have ever heard in any of my friends home systems" even comes close to comparing. I freaking love this integrated AMP!!! WOW!!!!!
  19. Near field is a totally different animal than conventional room filling speaker setups. I am a professional photographer and spend hours working in Photoshop and my KEF monitors are very accurate and sound amazing in the near field. Staging is excellent and it feels like you are in a studio setting sitting between the KEF LS 50 Ws. - Downstairs I have my Fortes and a larger sub and my Primaluna Amp and that setup can fill the downstairs with music. Much BIGGER sound and great sound but not as accurate as the KEF Monitors surrounding me in my computer space. I still prefer the sound downstairs Primaluna and Klipsch Fortes but the near field setup rocks my world in different ways.
  20. I own the KEF LS50 W and pair those with an HSU Sub - They sound AMAZING!!!!!!!!! Mind BLOWING!!!!!
  21. Thanks Marvel - I had missed that post - I get very busy sometimes and am not up here that often
  22. Hi Marvel -are you talking to me?
  23. I am still so happy with it! I got a Bluesound Node2i and am streaming so much music now and its mind blowing good in IMHO - Thinking of adding a Denefrips Dac which people claim is more organic analogue sounding than many Sabre based Dacs. Playing records thru my Dual 1229 and MUSICAL FIDELITY MX-VYNL PHONOSTAGE has never sounded this good. It really isn't even close.
