  1. I am sure one of the technical types could figure out to the milliwatt the additional draw through the swamper. (It's not much) HB
  2. JWC video looks good, when are we to expect the second installment? HB
  3. That's not exactly what I took from Al's face book page. Though I didn't understand Robonerds argument either. Apparently he like the Badger though!!! HB
  4. As previously stated make sure the Phase is correct and the receiver is in Direct mode. Just to be clear on phase, make sure one of the speaker isn't wired backwards, not taking about the phase control on the receiver. Furthermore one of my RF-7 had one of the woofers disconnected, this had me scratching my head for a while. HB
  5. Welcome to the forums. Because of your situation, I think it would be best to replace the crossovers with new units. The AL is probably an original however it is not a favorite, the E2 is from a Heresy. My suggestion is to get a pair of ALK Universal crossovers from ALK or a replacement crossover from Bob Crites. You could certainly build a new set of crossovers. There is a link here on the forums for schematics of Klipsch crossovers. HB
  6. That's close, thanks for the heads up. HB
  7. What is the depth of the magnet from the mouth? HB
  8. The clutter is more than I want to deal with. I am sure you understand, or will in time. The extra gear, wires, interconnects, etc. This is not just audio for me, I used to have many toys, Muscle cars, motor cycles, boats, PWC, etc. Now I have a stock pick up truck and my camper. Some times simpler is better, at least for some people. HB
  9. I know the digital actives sound very good, but I don't like the idea of going from digital to analog,(source to preamp) then back into the digital domain for adjustments and back to analog(via active crossover) then out to 2 or 3 amplifiers, and finally to independent drivers. I prefer to keep it simple, especially when listening to vinyl. A source-point full range would be my first choice, but I find they are always lacking. I understand the benefits associated with actives. (time alignment, equalization etc.) I have used them, they sound great just more than I want to deal with any more. I found the Mini DSP though not the best sounding unit was my favorite, it was simple to use, and I could import R.E.W. this was a great feature. My Ashley sounded great, but was analog, and couldn't time align, but good sound. Behringer and DBX were a pain. Instruction manuals were thick as a Bible and the Behringer was noisy. Never used the Yamaha actives. EV DX-38 was a very nice crossover though mine had issues. If I did it again I would try the Pass Labs and manually time align the drivers. HB
  10. I guess I should put my mini DSP on the scope, I do not remember having any noise issues. As I recall mine was dead quiet, and sounded rather good. HB
  11. Honey Badger said: "I have used the 15c several times, never had one contact motor board " DJK said: "So, you all are willing to re-cone anyone that has a problem?" What's the deal? One can not come in to a thread you have commented on and offer personal experience with a particular product? Your comment was completely unnecessary. HB
  12. Verticals are special, another option is to buy a Cornscala box and motorboard kit from Bob, and put the verticals back to stock. I am all about upgrades or sidewaysgrades, but I don't think I would chop up a vert. HB
  13. I still have that album, I had to buy a DBX unit just to play it. Sounded great. HB
  14. You can cut new grill frames from 3/16 Masonite available at home depot. Replacement black cloth in the size you need is available from Bob Crites. www.critesspeakers.com You can remove the original came cloth, clean and reinstall on new grill frames, but it is tedious, and could end up ruining the cane if you are not careful. HB
  15. 1/4 pie a la mode sounds good to me.
  16. No amount of debate is going to sway anyone's opinion here. Clearly there is more than one way to build a crossover that works. My preference is an adjustable passive, I like ALK crossovers. Chris A is all about actives ( I have done it, It works!) Time alignment has it's benefits, it's just more gear than I want to work with. Mikebse2a3 prefers a minimalist design. We have all heard them, they work. All of these crossovers can sound really good if set up properly! Can we all agree that Klipsch speakers are awesome regardless of crossover topology? HB
  17. ALK universal crossover should work for your needs. HB
  18. The QTS is a bit high for horn loading. As I recall a QTS .3 or lower is best suited for horn loading. This woofer might work good in a ported design like Cornwall. HB
  19. I cant wait to see them when you are done with them. HB
