  1. Besides this information here I found.... OPPO UDP-203 is using the AK4458 DAC with the performance of -107dB(THD+N) as a DAC with 115dB S/N characteristic.... Here is the best info I could find that someone else put out there to discern some differences in dac specs of the "replacement" OPPO type players coming to various markets around the world. I had nothing to do with the creation of the following comment... The Oppo UDP-205 is considered best in its class for audiophiles. It's equipped with two ESS Technology ES9038PRO DACs for both stereo and 7.1 channel analog audio. The ES9038PRO is the flagship of the ESS PRO series. It sets a new benchmark for audio excellence with its best-in-class 140 dB of dynamic range, total harmonic distortion plus noise (THD+N) at -122dB in a 32-bit, 8-channel DAC. The Panasonic UB9000 model is using the AK4493 DAC - Dynamic range, S/N: 123dB, THD+N: -113dB The Pioneer UDP-LX500 will be using the AK4490EQ DAC - Dynamic range, S/N 120 db, THD+N -112 db The Sony x1000 model is using some high performance 32 bit DAC (DSD 11.2 MHz, LPCM 192kHz capable) are the only details I find. The Pioneer UDP-LX800 will be using the ES9026PRO DAC - Dynamic range, S/N 124 db, THD+N -110 db
  2. Yeah the OPPO UDP-203 has the same dac inside as my Denon AVR X4400H, so I just use hdmi for all my spinning disks to save on input switching.
  3. Sure, I got that too. Would love to hear your thoughts when you get the chance to see for yourself if/when that happens.
  4. OPPO 205 = ES9038PRO dac Pioneer LX800 = ES9026PRO dac Pretty sure that is not a direct replacement dac UDP-LX800 employs the same pair of 32-bit, 8-channel Parallel Drive ESS Sabre Digital-to-analogue converters (DACs) used in the PD-70AE, namely the ES9026 PRO
  5. And don't forget the Quartet, a very compentant speaker, making 4 models available at once all within one model line spanning 8 model years.
  6. I have not heard anyone else make this statement before. My question to you is how would you place the Chorus II on the sliding scale when comparing between the Forte III--------Cornwall III? Maybe closer to one or the other and not exactly middling?
  7. Can someone please tell me what I am supposed to use this for. OPPO UDP-205 I just received it today?
  8. I drove to 400+ miles to St.Cloud in the snow to get my Chorus II's. Believe me it so worth it. Even consider Hotel and restaurant costs if necessary. The most important thing to do is to secure the sale first. Scouts honor is not always going to hold up. Often these speakers are listed and sold to the first contact had, within hours they are gone like the last Milwaukee craigslist Forte II's that sold immediately 2 weeks ago now, to a very lucky buyer who I later heard was tickled pink. They will not sit. Most will hold them till you arrive, but some reassurance will be necessary on the longer trips. I had one guy hold a pair of JBL's I bought for 3 weeks for me, while he was on vacation, because I was first contact. In that case the JBL's remained listed and he accepted calls the whole time, but eventually raised his price and held firm. If I had prepaid, maybe I would tell another story.
  9. I heard from someone who was communicating with OPPO that about 85 each day. IIRC it is 85 emails, not 85 units. Skeleton crew over there for sure working the fulfillments.
  10. They responded to me as well, although they would not disclose the total # of units released for sale at the last and final shipment, they did tell me the last 2 shipments were being filled at a more than 50% conversion rate. Last few days now. I will have mine Thursday.
  11. If you got on the official OPPO UDP-205 interest list before May and you have not received your email yet, contact OPPO via email. There had been a database error and many hundreds were tossed off the list, but later discovered and sent new emails to verify their continued interest. Again you had to respond to the email to confirm or your place in line was not guaranteed. If this applies to you and you can verify the emails, contact OPPO and you will most likely get an email offer to purchase an OPPO UDP-205. I can provide more information about my comment if there is anyone here this pertains to.
