  1. We here, as often in the world, we have great doctors, scientific and professor Raoult, but services wars are stronger than men: too bad

For those who can read French (or use an online translator)

    https://www.marianne.net/politique/didier-raoult-et-le-milieu-medical-parisien-histoire-d-une-detestation-reciproque

Note: for your information, Professor Raoult is the researcher who said on February 24, 2020 to have discovered that chloroquine treats Covid 19 and that clinical trials must be done quickly.

  2. No air vacuum with the brush, do not press. The engine must be adjusted weakly. For more security, the air exhaust from the tube must be left a little open!

For inaccessible places you can use a soft brush and a little further hold the brush of the vacuum cleaner running gently. The dust will fly with the soft brush and then be sucked a little further.

  3. Here also in France, many Klipsch fans talk about the Heresy IV saying: "these are no longer true Klipsch," "betrayal" "they are no longer closed like all Heresy before".
As Chef Bornehead says, they haven't even listened to the IV news and therefore they give a void opinion.

I also find that everyone is talking about the evolution of HIV compared to HIII, only for port bass reflex: they forget the new Tractrix K704 driver and horn set, the new K107 tweeter with the new broadcast part, the new Network, the new cables and new terminals. Because as the Chef says: common methods, but a different recipe makes a different and unique sound.

I am also an amateur who builds speakers since the 80's, for me and friends, but I am only an amateur and I am like DaveA: passionate, but humble know that I ignore a lot of things, that I have to make big mistakes and I like to learn a lot from specialists like Roy Delgado. I find it a unique opportunity and a privileged privilege that he writes here on the forum, that he discusses in all humility and so kindly, with us simple amateurs and owners of Klipsch. Thanks to you, Klipsch employees for chatting with us on the forum.

I am always slow to purchase, I spend a lot of time researching and waiting these days.  Here is my goal as of now, especially considering how life is right now.  I have a Technics in the basement I am going to see how it works, if it can get me by, I will see about selling everything I have and see what I can come up with.  Maybe doing this I can up my budget.

Big question is, should I keep one of the two Shure carts or are some of these tables with newer carts better?

    Hi,

    For me

It is important to respect and save the groove of your discs. For this you must use a Fine Line stylus or equivalent (Microline, SAS, Shibata, ...)

For Shure II or III at LPGear SAS or NeoSAS from Jico or their Vivid Line from LPGear: https://www.lpgear.com/category/SS3.html?CatListingOffset=24&Offset=24&Per_Page=12&Sort_By=price_desc

    example Shure V15 type III

    https://www.lpgear.com/product/SHVN35HEL.html

    https://www.lpgear.com/product/SHVN35HESAS.html

At home I use a ViVid Line from LPGear on a Stanton 881S with great success, the sound is very beautiful.

In new I recommend the Microline or Shibata from Audiotechnica

    https://www.audio-technica.com/cms/cartridges/e7a3d4bc8b248b64/index.html

    https://www.audio-technica.com/cms/cartridges/e798922daa95de6d/index.html

For the plates the new Audiotechnica are very good for their price and the advantage and that they are supplied with an Audiotechnica cartridge, it is enough just to buy a replacement sylet Microline or Shibata

    https://www.audio-technica.com/cgi-bin/product_search/turntables/turntables.pl?lang=eng

The majority of the current turntables are manual, so for disc ends I recommend an Audiotechnica arm lifter

On top of Corona virus, we had three bad earthquakes this morning. Last one more serious than this was 140 years ago.

First one was 5,5 Richter, second 5,0 and third 3,7.

There is a lot of damaged buildings.

    @parlophone1

Yes I saw that on the net, here in France the TV info does not talk about it, because it loops on the CoVid 19 and it is a shame. I hope it goes for you, we think of you.

Croatia is such a beautiful country, beautiful landscapes and cities !

  6. Thanks for the feedback and your feeling of listening 👍

You know that you can very easily lower the sensitivity of your HF103 without changing the impedance, by 8 ohms in your case, so that the parameters of your filter / network do not change. If you do not want to place new resistors on your filter, you can place the terminals at the terminals of the HF103.

For example, to decrease 3 dB, you can put about 2.3 ohms in series and 20 ohms in parallel. If you just want a drop of 1 or 2 dB, you need to put other resistors in the Lpad.

If you lack a bit of brightness above 6 kHz, you can put a capacitor of around 1µF or 1.5µF in parallel with the 2.3 ohms resistor.

No need to modify your speaker and wiring for this you can put male and female lugs on your new Lpad to insert it between the wires and the HF103

As @Deang says, pay attention to the impedance at the network crossing point!

I appreciate having you on the forum from the French point of view.  I don't trust most of the mainstream press in the US.  How is the average French citizen, including you, reacting to this dramatic and forced change of lifestyle?

    Hi @wvu80

    To answer your question

I live in an average city of around 16,000 inhabitants. We are a family with 4 children between 11 and 17 years old and both parents, we also have 1 dog, 1 cat and 1 pool with fish. We are fortunate to have an individual house with each his room, so the organization is quite simple from this point of view. We are fortunate to have a large enclosed garden with walls, so it is comfortable for us. Our 4 children are no longer in middle school or high school for the older children. The school is done remotely with the internet, but since there are 12 million students and 4 million students, the education servers do not work well because they are saturated: the computer scientists work to fluidify the net and then we have received weekly connection schedules by class level so that there is a turnover and not everyone connects at the same time.
We went shopping to feed everyone, but calmly for 10 days and without a lot of people around us, without rushing and without stupidly stocking as we see on television.

People stay at home respecting the rules. We can go out for 4 reasons with a travel certificate:
1- commute to work, if teleworking at home impossible,
    2- food shopping
    3- travel for health reasons,
4- short trip and next to the home, for physical activity only (group prohibited), needs of pets (dogs).

Since today, the Police have been checking passers-by to find out if they have their declaration on their honor signed and if they have a good reason for leaving: if this is not the case, they will impose a fine of € 135 ( about $ 150) to violators who do not respect confinement.

Many people left the big cities and in particular Paris, to go in the family to the countryside, but not always correctly: for example they were very numerous agglutinated with a few centimeters to be separated, not at least 1 meter or more as is the rule on the station platform, but now it's over, because travel is prohibited.

The whole population supports people in hospitals: doctors, nurses, paramedics, staff, ... Schools keep their children so that they can work in the hospital, clinic, pool medical, ... Closed restaurants have delivered free pizzas so they can eat at the hospital, ...

Of course we saw on the TV some idiots who queued up to go and buy tons of pasta or medicine, but like everywhere they are only a few% of the population, here as elsewhere (Italy, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, ...) 99% or even more of the people respect the rules. I imagine that with you it is the same thing, a small group of idiots does a few things and it is them that we show in loop for 24 or 48 hours on TV on a news channel continuously, but it is not necessarily the majority.

    Morale is good here

    Good luck to you !

Mine did, repeatedly.  I was not warned that this “sophisticated” vehicle has hidden modules that continue to run and will repeatedly drain the AGM battery overnight after being driven the day before.  I naively thought this vehicle, like many modern vehicles, would override my stupidity if the lights were left on, a door left ajar, etc. and shut it down to save the battery.  I was not warned that diligence regarding such issues was useless, as the vehicle was designed and manufactured with an electrical system ill equipped to power stealth modules without draining the AGM overnight.  I agree with @babadono; this is a failure in design and, at the very least, a failure in managing expectations, by failing to warn that the battery must be supplemented by a charger.  Did not Ford anticipate that this commercial vehicle could be parked in an airport parking lot for a week while the owner was travelling on business?  How pissed would you be to return from a business trip to be greeted by a dead vehicle?

Have you seen Ctek or other maintainer?

Change the battery with a new one and use a charge maintainer!

Modern cars do this, if the battery is too low the vehicle will go into safety, impossible to start. I had this surprise with my 2010 Mustang, nothing more without warning: battery change and purchase of a Ctek

  9. Hello !

Here in France >>> We have been in containment since noon, it is 3:30 PM. The country is arrested.
There are images of Paris and big towns live on the news channels: the streets are empty, only the police who check the few people who have left a past: doctor, medical trip, state services, emergencies, foods, ...

    It's impressive !

Nice juste 1:07 after start of containment, ordinary it's full

no i don't know, thanks for the link i will watch.

You have a famous brand that pays homage to a Frenchman who founded the automobile city of Detroit: the brand is Cadillac, the gentleman is Antoine de Lamothe-Cadillac.

Here Cadillac is a small town with us in Gascogne, South West of France...

Harley, Porsche,  Mustang . . . what about a Renault or Citroen?  Where’s your Gallic pride?

    @mustang_flht

    😁

I also had a Guzzi California for 10 years, it is a very beautiful Italian motorcycle, but there is no French motorcycle.

For cars there are no longer too many beautiful French cars, while in time there are some very beautiful: for example the Citroën DS.

Today there are again beautiful cars made in France, but at the top of the range: the Alpine A110 and also, but there it is really inaccessible the Bugatti which are made in Alsace.

Yes, I was originally gonna mount the crossover on the rear, but didn’t want all those wires hangin out the back.

It's just for the setting temporarily, after once everything is finished, you will hide everything in it 😉

  13. I also just thought of something:

I also believe that your problem is that the ALK filter is in the box and that you must open your Cornscala at each adjustment. You cannot temporarily exit the ALK network (extend the connecting wires), close your cash register and do the tests. Once the correct setting is found, you can permanently put your ALK network back in Cornscala.

    ;)

I will follow your direction. You know way more than I do about this.   I don't know how you figured the db of the drivers to get a starting point of adjustment, but thanks. Big help.   I would have been going by ear alone.  So your saying the woofer and mid should be at same db and the tweet slightly above?

    I'm French,

So I do not master all the subtleties of the language of Shakespeare, You can ask your American friends to tell you if I wrote a mistake, or if I used false friends in my comments, but yes go like that for settings.

After it is according to your tastes, you can start from this base and refine according to your desire.

To guide you I took the data from the manufacturers of your speakers (Eminence and B&C). This is why it is necessary to refine it calmly by ear, because between the measurements of the manufacturers and your assembly with a box for the woofer, slightly different horns, a different room, ... there will be small differences. So start already from the base I gave you and tell us if you like. Then we can guide you to refine a little, but only after.

    Good listening 😀

Note : In addition it seems to me that there is a typo in the data of the Eminence 3015LF-4, they announce 96db / w / m of output while the curve is closer to the 98 on the card, in any case there is a problem ; either the curve is false, or the value of 96db is false. So I started from 98db to guide you, but from a distance without listening or measuring it is hard, so test and tell us if it is going in the right direction.

    https://www.eminence.com/pdf/Kappalite_3015LF_4.pdf

  15. Voici un commentaire qui semble aller dans le même sens que ce que je vous dis.

    Note :

always think that you can refine with the combination of the red wire with -0 / -1 / -2 and the position of the black wire to make good of only 1db of jump.

    For 7db of attenuation do 9db - 2, for 8db of attenuation do 9db - 1, for 9db of attenuation do 9db - 0, for 10db of attenuation do 12db- 2, for 11db of attenuation do 12db - 1, for 12db do 12db - 0db, etc ...
