  1. I appreciate your feedback. It's interesting what you mentioned on digital media. My listening buddy uses Roon with Qobuz and it apparently seeks out various res files. What's interesting about this though is that sometimes it will provide 24 bit files and 16 bit CD quality files and for whatever the reason, in many cases just the simple 16 bit CD files sometimes play even better than some of the higher res files. This stuff is way out of my area of expertise but I'm glad you just get the files you get and then you spend more time just listening rather than being tempted to test files all day.
  2. I updated this just in case others may be interested.
  3. What's the deal end-users have with this label. Would like to hear your thoughts.
  4. I think we also get used to what we hear and sometimes when something new comes along, it takes time to adjust to it.
  5. Raising the low end driver usually reduced bass, however, I raised the Heresy 6" and the Forte 4" to increase the height of the soundstage. As far as the bottom end frequencies, my floors generate a really nice bass resonance and as a result, the bass doesn't sound compromised. You can listen to both here with earbuds.
  6. I've acquired the Nobsound and it's dead silent to my ears with my Dynaco ST35 and ST70 amps as well as my Schiit Vidar 2. Even when I place my ear up to my Heresy's and Forte's I can't hear any high pitch frequencies so the floor noise is dead silent I'm posting a review on it today. BTW, the volume is smooth and solid and the build quality is first rate. The volume increases perfectly as I rotate it and so there's no impedance issues. Definitely a much nicer build than the Schiit SYS and I prefer the larger, more solid rotating knob. Wow, really amazed. Thanks, Daniel
  7. Shakey thanks for sharing. I’ll take a closer look at this. Have you messed with any of the Luminous Axiom models? They seem to get some really good praise as well. Best, Daniel
  8. Thanks for sharing. Yea I saw those when they were posted. I was trying to find a pair in natural finish to avoid labor but I may end up with no other option.
  9. Glad to hear you like the Nobsound. 75% of the reviews are very positive while a few had issues where most of the volume occurred near the end of the rotation of the volume. I like its sleeker design and build quality much more than the SYS and I too like the larger volume control. Thanks for sharing.
  10. So far the Elekit 300b is the most amazing 300 I've heard with the Heritage series. It's silky smooth, great bass and open sounding. This one had the Lundahl transformers which are the finest. I did a brief review of it here but spent some time with it on loan from a friend.
  11. I've been spending more time with the SYS to reduce coloration from my tube preamps because one of my rooms isn't completely treated as well as it should be. What's interesting though is how amazingly quiet the Schiit SYS is since it is basically nothing but a small Alps volume control with no complicated circuit. Connected to my Heresy II and my Dynaco ST70 for example, I can place my ear to the tweeter and the floor noise is literally non existent compared to the average tube preamp. Since the SYS has no gain, it requires a bit more volume but it's not an issue on speakers with high sensitivity. Even while playing with various amps and phono stages, I haven't had any impedance issues so far and I'm extremely impressed with the neutral clarity which allows the actually sound of the ST70 to remain as faithful as possible as the SYS doesn't introduce any coloration or sound signature other than just a volume control. It's just dead quiet. This can easily compete with preamps costing literally thousands of dollars. I just ordered a Nobsound volume control to see how it does as well. Passive volume controls are an excellent option for amplifiers if you don;t have the money to spend on an actual preamp. So far this Schiit SYS which I've had for several years now sounds amazing regardless of cost. Doesn't matter if you spend $15,000 on a preamp. Sometimes it's hard to beat the sound of nothing.
  12. I will be posting a review on the actual latest McIntosh 275. I found the sound to be too bright, grainy and analytical for my tastes. The Kenny Russell Dynaco ST70 sounds like warm silk by comparison at a third the price. The 275 used the stock KT88 tubes while the ST70 used the EL34 NessTone's. I love McIntosh products but wasn't too thrilled with their 275. Wouldn't be surprised if the clone was pretty good.
  13. Looking for the standard natural plywood like the model listed in the link below. Preferable purchase pickup in California or Arizona. Also interested in the 1950's K-5 midrange horn models as well. Let me know if you have anything to offer. Thank you, Daniel https://www.hifido.co.jp/sold/14-81984-14194-00.html
  14. Just reviewed this receiver and it’s a match in heaven with the Heritage series.
  15. For tube and solid state guys.
  16. Ironic, considering your title is tube fanatic. 🤪
  17. I don't either. That's why you're supposed to wear earbuds or headsets.
  18. For those who may be curios on how they sound.
  19. Ocean Way had the best room in SoCal "The Show" this year.
  20. In my next video here if you skip to 4:00 with a pair of earbuds or headsets, I have my Forte's against the wall about 10" and the bass is more audible in a good way in my opinion. Yes, it's a different room with different acoustics, but Upscale has their own dedicated listening room and others can judge for themselves. Their setup sounds nice, but I would have preferred a bit more bottom end.
