  1. I read the book years ago and was impressed with the imagery and the glimpse into a culture that is little understood. I don't know if the story was an accurate portrayal of anything but I was intrigued. I just saw the movie this weekend and it was awesome. The cinematography was great, the costumes and scenery were beautiful, and although the story was not exactly something was "female empowering" by today's standards, it did show the strength of the female spirit. I would have to say this gets extremely low scores in the action/adventure/fight scene categories and the comedeic scenes are rather sparse, so I could understand why some would find it rather slow.
  2. itsawomanthing, Is your name really carole? carol
  3. And here I am still using those little gizmoes to keep the pizza box from hitting the cheese. shallow shallow Actually, they aren't quite tall enough
  4. Dee- Get well soon! If you would like, I'll send Less to visit although her bedside manner leaves alot to be desired (she likes buzzing the call button, then hiding under the bed). Thinking of you. Carol
  5. "one that we all hold dear in our hearts and should never disagree with or anger." Hmm, I hear Less rising from the crawlspace! Run JT. Run! Run!....Run!
  6. Sorry Micheal, Less got out from the crawl space, I thought that I had her pretty well bricked in. Alas Not. Then again, she may be pretty rude and wicked, but sometimes right. Why are you suprised that speakers aren't making you ultimately happy? Have you considered using your incredible talent as a photo-artist to help others might? I have a few ideas that might be cool, if you are interested.

  9. Jt..what's with this great and powerful Cluless stuff? Sounds like I have caused offense of sorts. If so I'm sorry. Anyhow, look at the shadows caused by the overhead trellis, stuff... It does not match the "reflections" in the front windows. Oh Nevermind.
  10. Quit Drooling Guys....The "Movie Set" of her house is a bit 2 dimensional. Another E-Bay Farce. Look through the front windows
  11. So you probably only saw Bruce Willis, right? I admit, his parts drag a tad-- But, I couldn't take my eyes off the screen when Mickey Rourke comes on right after Willis-- he was so incredibly tough and brutal yet tragic-- the effects get better later, too--he's half the movie, too-- You missed a ggood one that starts slow -- I bet the filmmakers made it that way so the viewer could get used to the unusual look of the movie before things really start moving in the story-- Actually, I made it past the Brucey parts...I was watching Mickey Rourke swathed in bandaids, (far too many bandaids)....waiting to avenge the death of Goldi, who seems to still show up, both in the olfactory sense and in dead alleyways,....and I had this sudden revelation... WHY AM I WATCHING THIS?, But, I'll put it back in my Netflix queue...and let you know clu
  12. from what I understand... It doesn't take too long before the mice hum along[]

  18. Here's what they don't show on the news. The area south of the railroad tracks was cordoned off with razor wire, you had to prove residence and surrender your license to go there, providing of course that they were letting anyone in that day. This was a necessary evil for a number of reasons. Health, safety, looting, etc.
  19. Those pylons in the background were to keep the condos that used to be there above flood level. They needed to be a bit taller, me thinks.
  20. Lynn, You got that right, her safety and health are the most important things. She was also very fortunate that she had flood insurance, many people she knows lost less but are in worse straits because they did not. Anyway, here are some rather humorous/strange photos from the area. First, someone told me that the only thing missing from this photo was a couple of vultures.
  21. Thanks Cal, I could see the pictures just fine, but I guess that no one else could. I reposted the first picture in the original post, and here's the one of the drive. The plastic bags in the trees probably mark the water level from the storm surge. As ya'll can tell, a roof aint gonna fix this problem. Anyone want to buy a lot in Long Beach MS? Actually she is gonna hold out for a few years if she can.
  22. Lynnnmmmm, I'm sure that with your strength of character you'll whomp the daylights out of that stinking disease! We're all rooting for you! Clu, Less, Blacky,Stripe and Barnie the Bat.
  23. The grass looks really nice though. Just goes to show what 10-20 feet of water will do for a lawn.
  24. First, I have to apologize for using this forum for purely personal purposes, but I'm not really sorry, because I know that we have proven to be a true family in the past. Second, Fini - you have a PM telling you that you have an e-mail.... Hmmm if communications between those of us that have communications are so screwy... Arggghh. That is the huge issue. Thanks all for putting up with me,
