True story... I was offered a pair of CF-4's for $450 and a pair of CF-3's for $350. Oak or Mahogany (I forget which, now)... Would have been my first Klipsch, but I didn't buy them because I didn't have the money at the time. This was about three years ago, I guess.

Check out the offerings from Sunfire. The tiny True Sub Jr. won't do the job, but the EQ probably would and the Singature would almost definitely work well. Might be hard to locate a new Sig from an authorized dealer for $1500, though... but it probably can be done. Might also look at Velodyne, but it would probably be even harder to find a decent matching Velo for that price. RSW-15 would probably work... One of the new THX subs would do the job, most likely. Two would exceed the budget... Some of the offerings from SVS would match up. Probably should go with a plus series, at least... leaning towards the double driver box sub. Maybe even the Ultra.

About the eBay auction for the PP KT88 amp... I emailed a seller in Hong Kong (where that amp's seller is) about a much smaller PP EL84 amp. Shipping and handling was $130. On a larger, heavier amp like the KT88, it would probably be even more. Just FYI... that knowledge was a definite deciding factor for me to NOT buy the amp. I would rather use the $100+ I save from having a seller in the US to buy a better amp...
