  1. And that last one was a joke. I probably spelled it wrong. I agree with most Metallica songs and #1 Thunderstruck by AC/DC.
  2. I get about 6 hours of sleep a night and I'm always tired, but thats the most I can get with all my homework and time on this forum. But I have read and seen on a credible show like 20/20 or something like that, that if you get 4 hrs of sleep a day and feel good, then thats all you need. Their are few people in the world who have this ability and it won't hurt you in any way. Its kinda like having 28 hours in a day, you can get so much more done. Must be nice.

    WOW!!!

Congrats. Thats a great upgrade. The new DVD will sound great on them.
  4. I know as soon as I get to madison I want to demo one at some high end audio stores there. I'd like to spend a day w/o the women just to look at everything. Then, next summer depending on my new job maybe I'll just have to get one, that or an SVS like everyone else is ramping about.
  5. boa is right, I had that problem too. Go to setup or whatever you dvd player has and switch it so it can play DTS, or you won't get any sound. Also make sure your receiver is set to DTS or Auto. I personally use Auto because it will automatically detect what signal is comming in and you don't have to mess with it. I forgot to look too, are you using a digital out on your DVD player, it won't play DTS w/o a digital out hooked up.
  6. My Infinity HPS 250 really shook the dorms. The sound just shaked and boomed down the halls and stairwells. My brothers roomate had the Sunfire Signature. Thats awesome in a little 11X16 dorm room. He never had to turn it over 1/4 power. Now that could be heard anywhere. Sitting on the john my sub shock the seat, Sunfire shook the pipes in the walls. Good thing they never turned it up or we might have wet @sses.
  7. Call them. I have never found anything on their site either.
  8. I have an Aiwa DVD player and if I sold it for $10 I would probably feel like I was ripping that person off. It works great, when it wants too. Everytime I move, form college to home and back to college every year the damn thing won't work for a good 2 weeks. I just locks up when playing or won't start. The only button that works is power. So If I rent a DVD I have a serious problem cause it could get locked in my DVD player. I pack it in the original box and everything to protect it. I call Aiwa to see what to do and they say to leave it unplugged for an hour to let it reset itself. Well I do that for 2 weeks, plug it in, unplug it and then it will finaly work. Sometimes. Other times you'll be playing a movie and it will lock up after 5 minutes or even an hour. Boy does that just ever piss a guy off. Of course its out of its warranty so they want me to send it in. I paid $200 for it. It will probably cost $100 or more to get it fixed and ship it. Heck I could buy an excellent Toshiba DVD player for $128. Maybe santa will bring me a new one.
  9. m00n, both are digital, I believe its just a matter of taste. I believe anyone who can a difference between coax and optical must have better ears than most owls. Don't spend your money buying a new cord because I know you and if it involves buying something new for a HT you would.
  10. You don't need a new sound card if you want, it will just make it sound better if you buy a nice one. So if you don't buy one you can hook it up in two places. In the back of the computer in the head phone jack or in the actualy built in sound card. The sound will be better if you hook directly into the sound card. So I just got a cord from radio shack. It will need to be a 1/8" plug/point (computer)that is split into 2 RCA Jacks(Denon). Now on the 1/8 point you will want to see 2 black lines on it, some only come with 1, look for the one with 2 black lines because that will give you stereo sound, the one with only 1 black line will give you mono sound even if on the Denon you plug in both the red and white RCA jacks. On the back of the denon hook it into one of the inputs, but not the phono. It won't play loud and it will humm really bad, because you need to hook up a separate ground that way. A good one to hook it up to on the Denon would be VCR 2 or VDP, thats what I use. Or you could buy a separate sound card and do as Justin said. Hope this works for you.
  11. You do get the on screen display with the 2802. It is with a regular digital out labeled monitor. Why do you want a component out for your onsreeen display? Who care if it is component or just video, its just on screen display, not DVD or anything important. If your not completely happy with the 2802 why not go with the 3803, I would rather spend $500 on something I like rather than $100 on somthing I don't. And the 6.1 upgraded to 7.1 is just as it sounds. Instead of 6 speakers each receiving a separate digital sound, 7 speakers can receiver a unique sound. Depends on if you want to buy 7 speakers in the future.
  12. If you go to www.hometheatertalk.com they have a list of some members and their pics of their HT. Some are really nice, others are ok. Just incase you wanted to look or get ideas. I particularly liked this one http://joey6p.com/trevor/#10
  13. You will find that most frat houses are really nice. And yes huge. But at most universities you have to live in the dorms the first year even if your in a frat, you might want to check that out justin. But thats just how it is with all the schools in the University of Wisconsin.
  14. i was going to suggest it but he beat me to it
  15. I would definately say against the oposite wall of a common wall. Both will shake but having it against the common wall will make it shake even more. At least thats my experience with it.
  16. I read to day something today that might solve our problem. My sub has always been connected to a different outlet than the rest of my commonents, mostly because of where they are positioned. But I read that if you plug the sub into the same outlet as the rest of the components/receiver it could get rid of the humm. I have to go try this out sometime. Only problem is moving that damn heavy entertainment center.
  17. It could sound alittle different, but most people get the RS-3 just because it matches the other surrounds and maybe cheaper?? So you could definately go ahead with that since it would match much better. Infact I was looking at Sound and Vision magazine and when they tested the RF-7 set they used the RS-7 instead of the RC-7 for the rear center channel.
  18. Klipsch has 4 binding post for bi-amping or bi-wiring like explained earlier. Your other speakers probably don't have this because their not as nice as Klipsch.
  19. I have the exact same set up, Denon 2802 with the same speakers except I have different surrounds. I asked many people here what they do and they set theirs to small. You could set it to large if you want, but it doesn't make a huge noticable difference. If you have a subwoofer set the crossover on the receiver to 80, then set the crossover on the subwoofer all the way up cause if you have it set below 80 that 80 to ?? will be left out. Then you will want your speakers set to small. Without a subwoofer I would set them to large, soley because your going to want the RF-3II's making most of the bass. Did you just yourself a new system? Sounds nice, doesn't it.
  20. I have the exact same problem, it hums by itself. Turn on a receiver and it hums louder. I was thinking about getting a line conditioner like the Monster HTS 2600, hoping that would solve the problem. But of course no money so I never got one. Was thinking about trying to get one this summer, then if it doesn't work see if I can return it.
  21. I use the RF-3II's and RC-3II. They are powered by my Denon 2802. I would have to say I like the most (hard to choose)...... probably the Klipsch La Scala's. From Wisconsin.
