  1. I will post a couple of K-500-5000 schematics that I hand drew while rebuilding the old crossovers. I have never seen an official Klipsh drawing of either one of these. Perhaps someone else has. The one I called K500/5000 V1
  2. "The first plot is of the original driver without a horn on it." What would make you think that? I don't think that is correct since that driver's curve looked much like that on several other horns I tried it on. When Eminence sent the orignal APT-50 out to the far east to have tooling made, they wanted an exact clone with the exception of going to a standard 1 3/8 screw on mount instead of the proprietary Tonsil thread mount. Anyway, the new drivers curves were so bad on every horn I tried it on, that I just thought something was wrong and did not save any of them. I told that to Eminence and they said they would test to see what was going on. They got similar curves but said that they were not going to work on it any more since it was good enough to use with an electronic crossover. Then they did the new PDF and showed the curve for the new driver. Up until that time, they were showing the curve for the original driver as being the curve for the new driver. That is when I made the connection directly with Tonsil in Poland and getting the orignal drivers from them. Now, I will say that I have not tested one of the APT-50-2 drivers since they came out in 2009 and they could test a bit different now. But, Eminence has not changed the published curve, so I doubt the driver has changed.
  3. The APT-50 that I use is the original APT-50. When Eminence did the new APT-50-2, I tested it and found it just not good enough to use. Eminence agrees that it should only be used with in an active crossover situation. It's response curve is pretty bad. Anyway, I went to the orignal manufacturer of the APT-50 in Poland and now they make it for me. Here is a link to the response curve of the new APT-50-2: This is the one they are using on the wooden horn. http://www.eminence.com/pdf/APT50.pdf Here is the curve for the original APT-50 that I use: http://www.critesspeakers.com/apt50.pdf

  5. No shine yet, but could I interest you in a battery charger for your electric fork lift or your electric golf cart? We sell a thousand or so of the battery chargers per year. http://www.critesspeakers.com http://criteschargers.com http://critesautosales.com
  6. Moray, Both drivers go to 6khz. Pay little attention to that Atlas spec. That is on a plane wave tube not a horn. http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/p/78033/772921.aspx#772921
  7. Dean, He is going FROM a K-52H to a PD-5VH. I think you could always go that way. The problem woud be (in some cases at least) going from a PD-5VH to a K-52H.
  8. Whatever you want to use them for. I sell them.
  9. That is my brother's house. About 6 pieces penetrated the roof but did not come all the way through into the house.. He said that he thought the house was coming apart and that it was one of the loudest noises he has ever heard.
  10. Some large chunks of tree went as far as 200 feet.
  11. We had a lightning strike nearby last night. Actally hit a tree near my brother's house which is about 300 feet from my house. The power surge got a bunch of stuff here. A DSS receiver, a computer, cordless phone base station, 37 inch LED TV, some network stuff (that I know of so far). Anyway, the lightning hit a tree. Tree shapnel (large enough to seriously injure or kill someone) went as far as 200 feet. Some pictures:
  12. Actually, I don't have a crossover for that combination. I spent a few days trying to make a crossover work for using the HF200 as a midrange and the 220Ti as a tweeter. What you have there is essentially two wide range HF drivers with the HF200 being good from about 400hz to 20khz and the D220TI being good from about 1khz to 20khz. Let's say you want to cross them at 6khz. You have both of them at full output at that frequency, so you have to cut off the HF200 very sharply and bring in the D220 just as sharply. The parts count gets pretty high in the crossover to do that. And in the end, what matters is the acoustic output. I just never got that right in the 10 or so tries I made, even though the circuilt "looked" like it should work. I might give that another try sometime.
  13. You sound a lot like a wal-mart steak commercial. http://www.ispot.tv/ad/7Zjf/walmart-steaks-jimmy-kellys-steakhouse
  14. While we are on sort of this subject, is anyone on here familiar with Valerian Root? That was recommended to me by my Cardio-Vascular surgeon no less. I was asking him about something to help me sleep all night instead of waking up so many times from various aches and pains an old fellow like me gets including the leg he just worked on. I took that last night before going to bed and had a very good restful night's sleep. Don't know if that was a one time fluke or if the stuff really works. Will give it another try tonight. The stuff is cheap enough. $3.50 for 100 capsules at Wal-Mart.
  15. Oh, I know. I'm giddy as a school girl. I treated myself to a new air filter. Woohoo! Good idea. You might want to pick one up for the Sienna also.
  16. You probably got that from the Bruce Edgar interview of PWK for "Speaker Builder" magazine.
