Nice profit. ---------------- Cable in the audiophile world is like diamonds in the real world. The mark up is astronomical and affordable only to the rich and or the insecure.
  2. Gee Colin, I didn`t ask her to do that last night. Good one. Don`t ask her to kiss a guy though. Or take off her top...or to get naked. Do not..go there.
  3. How could you, no matter how much money you have, look another member of this forum straight in the eye and say,"I paid 11 grand for a set of cables". How do you explain it? Do you really believe you can hear the difference between a $5000 cable and a $10,000 cable? Maybe there is a difference. Maybe. But can you really hear it? Folks, anything above $200 dollars for a set of cables makes my head swim. But I would and have paid that much for a record or a concert ticket. There is no theory to that. I understand that some hear have paid a great deal of money for cable, $2000 or so. But to this forum member $11,000 is just plain ole crazy IMHO.
  4. Lord knows I love a good beer. Fun site. She`s a fun girl. She served me almost everything I ask of. But then that guy stepped in when I got a little out of hand. And I was just on my third beer too. Thanks
  5. Sounds like a good score. Congratulations. Was that on ebay or in your local area?
  6. I understand this is a hard decision. It can make or break a business. Take your sweet time about picking a name. You`ll probably pick a name that no one here has thought of. You are leaning toward "platinum". Makes me think of cold metal. Here is what Merrian-Webster gives for that term. 1 : a heavy precious grayish white noncorroding ductile malleable metallic element that fuses with difficulty and is used especially in chemical ware and apparatus, as a catalyst, and in dental and jewelry alloys -- see ELEMENT table 2 : a moderate gray OK....... I don`t like the name "platinum". But who knows. I don`t own a business. Maybe that`s the one. Just had to speak my piece(or is that "peace") on this one.

  8. Great post Patrick. A fun read. Welcome to the "Cornwall Family".

Even though Nicks and Buckingham are world renowned for their contributions today, they were unknowns back then before Mic asked them to join his and John McVee's band. ---------------- Reread my post. Did I say anything about Buckingham Nicks? No. Why not? Because it`s a hidden gem.
  10. Sorry to hear that Lara. But since you got them from Alienware and they are still under warranty I would say you should give them a call first and see what they have to say. Before you call, double check your audio settings in your soundcard and Windows just to be sure. Don`t worry. It`s a bummer but these things do happen. The good part is you know what direction to go in to get the problem fixed. You`ll be back up and running in no time.
  11. Lara, I`m going to say you may have the classic problem that many of us here have had. Your amp is going out. Some go out all at once. Some takes time and is intermittent. I hope I`m wrong. They are wonderful speakers when they are working. It`s just that I lost 3 sets of these all for the same reason. You say they sound muffled. Does it seem like sound is just coming from the sub, then suddenly they sound fine? You may need to contact Amy at Klipsch customer support. She will help you. Again, I hope I`m wrong and it`s just a connection problem.
  12. Patrick, you better damn well post when you get those babies home. Let us hear all the details on your Cornwall pilgrimage. 1.Your meeting of Jorjen. 2.Your first impressions after laying eyes on your new prize. 3.Your wife`s facial expression when she sees the CW`s. 4.And finally your thoughts after hearing them in your listening room for the first time. Man`o man, those speakers are fine. They look sooo....NEW.

Lets stay on track here. Thebes is looking for your hidden gems. Not your favorites of all time. I love Rumors and Hotel CA but those are not exactly in the hidden gem category. For some younger members here, maybe so. Here`s a band that I`ll bet only a hand full of people on this forum have heard of. A band called "Venice". If you like CSN you will love these guys. This is their first major release from `97. This record is so good. Not a rip off of CSN, just music with the same feel. One of their shows I attended, Crosby and his wife were a couple of tables in front of me. Described by David Crosby as, "the best vocal group in the country and one of the best bands of any kind I have ever heard". That`s a pretty big statement Mr Crosby. If you like Jackson Browne or CSN, buy this CD.
  14. Jim, I`ve had some problems with my two cats also. I think Michael has some good ideas you might want to incorporate with mine. Here is what I did and SO FAR...it`s working. I bought a new scratching post and placed it about 8 feet form my CW`s. Why so close? Because if it`s all the way across the room away from the speakers they will decide that`s too far to go and will more likely use the speaker grills when they are in that general area. After buying a new scratching post take the grills off for a few weeks. This will give the cat only one choice and over time will change the cat`s regular routine. Hope this helps.
  15. Michael Jackson? Nope. I`ve heard nohting.
  16. I`ll third that choice. I found this CD used a few years ago. On this hillbilly`s sound system it sounds pretty darn good.
  17. I`d say an hour or so a day during the week. At least an LP or two. During the weekend I`ll start playing tunes around 3:00pm. On a good night that could go on until 2:00am. Not every weekend, but too many I would say.

It is a compilation of all of John's well known songs. dodger ---------------- Hey Dodger, Imagine is not a compilation. But it is so good one could make that mistake. Definitely John`s best album. In my top 20 of all time by anyone. No question. Great recommendation.
  19. Good Lord. Most of us are buying our stuff on ebay and other websites. Who shops at Best Buy? Is that a store?

  21. LOL. That`s funny Rick. I`m sure Moon agrees. Keep us up to date Tom on your situation. Hope all turns out well. I can relate. The older I get the more concerned I get about my ***. And that`s no joke. Just part of growing up I guess.
