  1. Before calling Klipsch parts, does anyone have any La Scala Emblems? I'm looking for the newer style ones with the "klipsch" in black. ------------------ Gabe '83 La Scala birch raw '93 Chorus II black '94 Forte II oak oil '93 kg3.2 oak oil KSW-15 Ksw-200 SW-8

  5. I blast my La Scalas to obscene levels almost daily, but I'd never ever ever use a tone control. Ack. That is what blew your woofers. If your speakers don't make bass, try fixing it the right way with room placement and subs. ------------------ Gabe '83 La Scala birch raw '93 Chorus II black '94 Forte II oak oil '93 kg3.2 oak oil KSW-15 Ksw-200 SW-8 This message has been edited by killerbee_vr6 on 07-29-2002 at 11:49 PM

  7. I hooked the Choruses up for about 10 minutes last night. No comparison. There is magic in that K55/K-400. Can't wait for ALKs. ------------------ Gabe '83 La Scala birch raw '93 Chorus II black '94 Forte II oak oil '93 kg3.2 oak oil KSW-15 Ksw-200 SW-8
  8. Who were the vandals that broke into your house and put that DCM next to the La Scala? I'm surprised the Scala didn't throw up on it. ------------------ Gabe '83 La Scala birch raw '93 Chorus II black '94 Forte II oak oil '93 kg3.2 oak oil KSW-15 Ksw-200 SW-8
  9. My Scalas would sure love new cabinets... ------------------ Gabe '83 La Scala birch raw '93 Chorus II black '94 Forte II oak oil '93 kg3.2 oak oil KSW-15 Ksw-200 SW-8
  10. I'm using a B&K pro10mc pre with a B&K st1400 amp. I got a Sony SCD-1 when I worked at the Good Guys for $500 (Don't ask). I run the pre in passive mode and it all sounds so sweet... ------------------ Gabe '83 La Scala birch raw '93 Chorus II black '94 Forte II oak oil '93 kg3.2 oak oil KSW-15 Ksw-200 SW-8
  11. I just replaced my Chorus IIs with La Scalas. What can I say about them? The midrange is infinitely more detailed and pleasing (to me at least) than the CII tractrix design. I realize they are "colored", but if they make you like music more, who cares? The bass is livable because it is so tight and clean. I guess I'm just amazed that they sound as good as they do. I heard a pair about ten years ago (that would have made me 13, lol) that sounded like, well, crap. For some reason I always wanted to give them a second chance. I do not see replacing these with anything but Khorns in my lifetime. ------------------ Gabe '83 La Scala birch raw '93 Chorus II black '94 Forte II oak oil '93 kg3.2 oak oil KSW-15 Ksw-200 SW-8
  12. I'd love to. My mom works in Sunnyvale, I always go down there for lunch. Let me know. ------------------ Gabe '83 La Scala birch raw '93 Chorus II black '94 Forte II oak oil '93 kg3.2 oak oil KSW-15 Ksw-200 SW-8
  13. I use a B&K Pro10 preamp and a B&K ST1400 amp with my La Scalas. The B&K stuff can sound kind of warm with "regular" speakers, but with the La Scalas... magic. ------------------ Gabe '83 La Scala birch raw '93 Chorus II black '94 Forte II oak oil '93 kg3.2 oak oil KSW-15 Ksw-200 SW-8
  14. Uh, I'm confused. There is a pair of Khorns on Ebay with an opening bid of $2999 Anyways, the seller says they're from 1958. Looking at the sticker on the side, I see that the La Scala (not made until 1963) and the Belle (not made until... 1971!) are listed as registered trademarks of Klipsch. How does that work? ------------------ Gabe '83 La Scala birch raw '93 Chorus II black '94 Forte II oak oil '93 kg3.2 oak oil KSW-15 Ksw-200 SW-8
  15. Remember that certain distortion harmonics are difficult to distinguish from the actual signal unless there is a non-distorting reference to go from. I like my La Scalas more than any other speakers I have owned, but I would spend $150 to eliminate distortion if possible. ------------------ Gabe '83 La Scala birch raw '93 Chorus II black '94 Forte II oak oil '93 kg3.2 oak oil KSW-15 Ksw-200 SW-8
  16. So I am correct then in assuming that the K55m I have will indeed play down to the crossover point without the horrid distortion the Layne site says I'll get? ------------------ Gabe '83 La Scala birch raw '93 Chorus II black '94 Forte II oak oil '93 kg3.2 oak oil KSW-15 Ksw-200 SW-8 This message has been edited by killerbee_vr6 on 07-23-2002 at 08:31 PM

  19. Those $70 k55 replacements are mighty tempting. The site says about their k55 clone: " this driver is built more heavily and can take the low crossover point <~450Hz> of the larger Klipsch speakers without distorting. The original drivers should really never be run below 700Hz, as a result the lower midrange lacks detail and can be quite distorted, especially at higher volume levels. Our new driver has usable response down to 400Hz , and is rated at 120w RMS crossed over as low as 500Hz. " Should the k55 not be run so low, or is this marketing fluff? Thoughts? Experiences? Help! ------------------ Gabe '83 La Scala birch raw '93 Chorus II black '94 Forte II oak oil '93 kg3.2 oak oil KSW-15 Ksw-200 SW-8
  20. PLEASE don't get a cheap receiver. At least get a Denon 1602. No Sony (ACK) Kenwood or the like. Those 2.5s will not like them. ------------------ Gabe '83 La Scala birch raw '93 Chorus II black '94 Forte II oak oil '93 kg3.2 oak oil KSW-15 Ksw-200 SW-8
