  1. You guys really seem impressed with this new line. I was just wondering, how do you think they stack up to the heritage line? Or should I say, how do you think the heritage line compares to them? This message has been edited by RWMIN on 06-01-2001 at 08:31 PM
  2. I thought at first that I liked the RF 3's better then the KLF 10's when I a-b them. I think that overall the RF-3's would probably be more likely to please rather then the 10's. I did opt for the 10's over the rf 3's in the end and later I added a pair of KLF 30's. The 10's will most certainly fatigue after some hard listening. They did me anyway but I do like it loud. I thought that the 10's could out CRANK the RF 3's but the rf 3's had more detail and imaging yet they were less dynamic and seemed to color the music just a tad "to me" were the 10's did not (probably due to their lack of imageing). Again, I think the RF 3's would be most likely to please you when compared to the 10's. How about a pair of KLF 20's??? Those are sure to please but possibly hard to match the entire set as the line has been, or is being discontinued. Good luck!
  3. I can not offer any advice on the receiver but i can for the speakers. I have the 30's front and 10's for 1 of my rear sets. I think they are an excellent choice for the rears. The 30's alone sound great but they have just a tad to much midrange for me. The 10's don't sound as good alone as the 30's but they have far less midrange then the 30's. I find that the 30's, C-7 and the 10's combine for MY near perfect sound. I don't think you can go wrong with the 10's as rears but "you" might even like a pair of 20's more??? 4. That's what I get for breifly scanning a post while getting rushed by the family to head out for the weekend. I see that you did clearly make reference to the bass rather then the two lines in general not being able to compare. Regardless my opinion was stated in general. May I suggest some DECAF with that ice cream keith. This message has been edited by RWMIN on 05-28-2001 at 05:16 PM

  6. Legends can't compare to the Premiere line? To you... I have even seen BobG remark how he has sometimes wished the Premieres could do some of the things the Legends do with ease. The two lines have their + and - but to say that one can't even compare with the other just doesn't seem fair. I personally liked the Legends more then the Premiere line overall. I like it loud thou and the Legends seem to just be getting started when I through everything I've got at them. They really are the "show it off" speaker. As you said It's all personal preference anyway. This message has been edited by RWMIN on 05-25-2001 at 06:22 PM
  7. I prefer Denon and in that price range you should have no problem getting your hands on a 3801. All the others mentioned here are also worthy units but my pref. has been noted. Good Luck!
  8. Performance aside I think he's just a bit upset that the new line is probably not much more in production costs and yet are priced much higher to increase profits as sales have been sooo good on the current line. Look at Denon. I heard from my local rep that the denon 3300 was so successful that Denon felt they priced it too low at an MSRP of 1000. So look at the 3801, now 1200 msrp(the 3300's replacement). Supply and demand?? I'm sure the new line will be a winner for both consumer and Klipsch. I'm looking forward to hearing them myself. This message has been edited by RWMIN on 05-16-2001 at 06:47 PM

  10. I have a Denon 3300 and 30's but I failed to see your post until today. You mention that you have your answer but I just wanted to add to it anyway. On my set up rather then using the SPL meter to set the outputs at 75 db, I set my mains and rears to match my center at o db. My rears are at plus 1 db and the mains are -2 and -3 and it rocks... As efficient as Klipsch Legends are you have to remove most of the power to get them down to 75 db each.
  11. 1. A 56" 16X9 TV or better to replace my 27" TV. 2. I would like to have one of those RSW 15 subs if they turn out to be as good as claimed. I have this HUGE sound a tiny picture and no money to do anything about it just yet.
  12. I've noticed several questions regarding the new line so I thought I would put it back up front.
  13. The Paradigm is a great sub. I have a Velodyne HGS 12 and I have listened to the Paradigm PW2200. It is a very good sub with a peak output of nearly 113 db.
  14. I could not agree more with Boa regarding the 30's upper bass. You need to make it a point to find the extra money for the 20's over then 10's. If you can swing it go for the 30's. The 10's are good rears but as mains they are not the best choice in that line. It's been awhile since I did this but once I hooked up my KLF 10's to my Denon's A. rear ch and my KLF 30's to the rear B. ch so that I could A,B the two sets. I do remember that the 30's won hands down but I was still very impressed with the 10's bass. If you just need to have more info regarding 10's vs 30's I will repeat and supply details. I know the outcome will be the 30's in every aspect so theres probably no point. Now if someone wants to bring a pair of 20's over I'd love to do that with those.
  15. My 10's seemingly have more bass then the 30's. I think the 30's will out hit the 10's though. It's hard to say for sure because the 30's have so much more of everything then the 10's.
  16. I asked a question awhile back re: the Pf 15 and it's claimed output. TV says that it would extend as low as they claim and as loud as they claim if it was dropped from a cliff. That's all I know about the line. I know that doesn't help any but there it is.

  18. The KSF S5's rears would be a perfect match to that center. I have them with my Legends and they do a nice job. They say that the front 3 are the most important to match and the rears less important. You are already off so I would say you have a couple of choices, 1. Sell your center and hunt down the matching center and rears to your mains. 2. Add the S5's and have a descent match between front and rear for movies as most the info is routed through the center anyway. 3. Buy something else from yet another line and have no match anywhere. 4 Sell it all and start over.
  19. BobG once said that the 30's could have been made to go deeper but Klipsch would have had to compromise the tonal balance that the Legend line shares. So why are the KLF 10's rated deeper then the 20's? I assume it is also in relation to the tone of the line in general as the 20's and 30's have an additional speaker to deal with. I really LOVE the tonal balance achieved with the 10's, C7 and 30's. The 10's miss what the 30's have. The 30's just aren't just right either but once combined I think they are perfect!
  20. I think the 20's and 30's have the same horn and mids yet the 30's are about 2 db higher in efficiency. I would presume that is due to the 12 inch woofs rather then the 10's. Some people prefer the 20 to the 30's as the 30's have a more bass inclined tonal balance. Some have said they are muddy compared to the 20's?? BobG once asked me if I found my smile growing when the slam, bam, boom was loud and at it's best and if so that I was a 30's kind of guy. Of course, I am a 30's kind of guy! Denon 3300 KLF 30's -front KLF C7 -center KLF 10's -A. rears KSF S5 -B.rears (WDST) Velodyne HGS 12 -sub I think this setup is absolutely SPECTACULAR! It is very clear with TONS of slam. Let me tell you that 5 Legends in 5 ch stereo really HAMMER. Do the 10's have the same bass as the 20's? I would say yes and no. The 10's actually go deeper then all the Legends. They 20's and 30's have excellent mid bass that the 10's lack. I like my 10's and started with them as mains but the 20's and 30's are superior overall IMO.
  21. Is OK. Somebody could have been hurt or killed and that would have been some real trouble. I look at it this way, the new Rangers have an extra 47 hp.
  22. I just wondered as I let a helper of mine drive my truck and when he ran a red light he was hit by a cement truck which caused my truck to flip over. He had only very minor injuries yet the Fire Dept used the jaws of life and cut my cab OFF the truck to remove him. It was a very nice and loaded Ford Ranger XLT extra cab 4x4 with only 35,800 miles on it. At least I got to come home to my Klipsch. Just think I let this guy take my truck yet I wouldn't let anyone touch my Klipsch's.
  23. I have previously spoken to Vel regarding the HGS 12 and the SPL 12. They told me that the SPL can dish out about 3 db more then the HGS 12. That's still 3 db less then the HGS 15. I must say that I just love my HGS 12. It is a killer sub. There isn'much better (HGS line in general) for music. For HT the limiter is less then what I would hope for during HT on the 12. If I turn my sub up high enough to really rumble the house when stuff happens in action scenes the rest of the bass during a movie such as music is way to much. It is unnatural and WAY overbearing except for the real action scenes, then it's great. That is the ONLY problem I have with the HGS 12. I don't want my sub to cap a 6 db increase for an action scene, yet it does. Again, for music it is a perfect sub in every way. I gather that the SPL 12 won't cut any increase during a specific scene and the HGS will. What is the better sub? HGS 15! What is the better MOVIE sub, good question? I wish I did NOT let my wife influence my decision on my sub when I bought the HGS 12 as I was going to buy the HGS 15 or 18". If you do buy the HGS line you will without a doubt be buying one of the best subs available today!
  24. They were discontinued a year or more ago with the entire line.
  25. I see mention to REL subs from various Heritage owners here on the board. I think it is the one sub that they (Heritage owners) have in common. I think there ARE other subs out there too that are worth considering but I have no experience with REL so I really couldn't say one is better or worse then the other. Here are just a couple of the markets TOP subs to chew on. 1. Velodyne HGS 18 - EXTREMELY clean with EXTREMELY good low output. 2. M&K subs are also very good. 3. and it continues ... You should try to audition as many different subs as possible and pick the one you like most.
