  1. In my defense, I would like to point out that I did state that I had no experience. Thanks for providing the RIGHT advice, guys.
  2. Both of these facts may have a lot to do with all the drinking you do the night before. Cheers! ---------------- On 4/3/2004 7:51:18 PM Bruinsrme wrote: Hell I am just a miserable grouch regardless of the time of day. I have been told I am an angel when I am sleeping ----------------
  3. You're right, I missed that very first reference. For what it's worth, after installing my new plugs my system sounded at least 127% better than it had just minutes before. just kidding
  4. Based on my expertise (none), I'm sure you can. I'm sure you can find directions either online or in a book from Home Depot. I've done several projects using directions from diynet.com.
  5. They still have them through eBay as well. http://stores.ebay.com/www-SpeakerRepair-com Click on speaker plugs on the left-hand side. TauRus, I reviewed the posts in this thread and you're the only one mentioning sound quality. The plugs are all about convenience and aesthetics, which is all we've discussed here.
  6. The Sopranos Now play that sad walking away music.
  7. I disagree completely. I thought Reloaded was simply an okay sequal to the Matrix. It continued the story, but didn't really add much or explain much new. The third movie did an excellent job of bringing everything together in a logical way. Just my opinion. ---------------- On 3/23/2004 3:47:58 AM gpbusa wrote: Yeah, the first one was great movie/concept. Then Reloaded set the stage for what could have been a great ending to the trilogy... But Revolutions just kind of laid there and all that setup from Reloaded was wasted. ----------------
  8. Thanks for the new avatar BBB!
  9. I've only been a member for a little less than two years. But I'll bet I'm the longest member (or at least one of the longest). 79 inches, base to tip (barefoot of course)
  10. I said your names. me! me! me! I don't venture into the 2-channel forum, so you and Keith were the worst "disagreement" that I've encountered. Glad to see you're both here.
  11. Yikes. I was away for the weekend and missed the excitement (inappropriate as it may have been). Who got bumped? Ed... Keith?
  12. speakerrepair has those too. Are all the posts that distance apart, even on receivers? They have them for about $3 each, or $2 each if you buy 20.
  13. I have the regular, non-locking plugs from speakerrepair.com and they fit quite snugly into both my receiver and speakers. They would never fall or slip out without a tug. I can't imagine why any set-up would want locking plugs, considering that would probably lead to damage if the wire were pulled, tripped upon, etc. And if it won't be pulled, why need to lock them? I still can't believe they were only $30 for 20 while BB wants $20 for 4 Monster brand plugs that aren't nearly as nice. Behold the power of marketing and brand recognition. I've got to get me some of that.
  14. What's probably throwing you is that the speaker posts come with little plastic caps in the end. They need to be pried out with a tiny screwdrive or knife point. They pop out pretty easily once you get an edge under them. Just did mine a few weeks ago. Very tidy. ---------------- On 3/11/2004 3:27:00 PM vandec54 wrote: Please excuse me for my ignorance, but how exactly does the banana plug go into the speaker end? I have RF3-II's. does the plug get stuck right into the post on the back of the speaker? ----------------
  15. I recently went for the plugs because they are convenient, but most importantly, because they are cool. Got a full set of great quality plugs from speakerrepair on eBay (20 for $30).
  16. Check out this Harman Kardon AVR 320 for $360 from eCost. I just bought a HK 125 from them about a month ago and can vouch that they are legit and ship quickly. I ordered mine on a Tuesday night and had it Friday. http://www.ecost.com/ecost/ecce/shop/detail.asp?action=detail&dpno=569234#scroll
  17. Bummer about the reference line, but I guess this makes it easier for you to get a full package right away. Enjoy!
  18. hee hee hee Ed, you have a typo in your post that is ripping on Keith for having a typo in his post. "bit the good news"? tee hee back to my mac & cheese carry on ---------------- On 3/10/2004 3:50:36 PM HornEd wrote: And in his sagacity, t2k opined, "The only way to avoid relection is to live on a cloud." You got me, Keith, I thought you may be living in a cloud... but what is it you are trying to get "relected" to... I didn't know that you had been elected Forum Dictator. Checked out your reasoning in the round room... bit the good news is that your reasoning wasn't circular. Seems it tests out as a downward diffusion spiral. I know that you believe that big mains, little centers and side sprayers with mostly different woofers, tweeters and such, and all different cabinet volumes can find peace when ears are inundated with a mess of diffused sounds... and you can go right on "relections"... but upon reflection, maybe you can clear your head and edit your post so we can have a clue about what you really mean! Peace should not be diffused! -HornEd Thanks, Keith, I needed a good belly laugh today! ----------------
  19. Gotta disagree with moon. Try to hide the geekiness until after she's hooked. Play up the cool factor of a nice system, but don't show how geekily excited we all become about our equipment.
  20. Could it be that your receiver is set to "no sub" for DVD's while mistakenly set to "with sub" for music?
  21. Shhh! I said go to your room! Now Keith IS getting a gold star for not responding. Bad Ed! Bad! Bad! ---------------- On 3/9/2004 8:29:18 AM HornEd wrote: Yum, .... ----------------
  22. Damn! Just like the old days! You two kids go to your rooms and don't come back until you can say sorry to one another. At the very least, save this garbage for the general section. HornEd? You should know better. I'm very disappointed. No recess for you today. Keith, you appear to have used a great deal of restraint in responding. You get a star for your behavior chart, but not a gold one, because you weren't able to ignore him completely.
