  1. What an excellent post kelly, thank you so much. I had my eyes on the cary SLP 74 on AudiogoN that Are Friends Electric mentioned. It's already $800 and still 11hrs left. It's apparent that I'll have to increase my budget. Iwon't be getting my DRDs before Christmas, so I'll keep looking. Thanks again. kudret
  2. I was hoping to get a 2-in-1 unit. I've got too many components, not enough space (my HT is setup at the same place) and not enough outlets.
  3. Rogues sure look pretty, but Magnum for ~$2000 is well beyond my budget. I'll be selling some of my Scotts and Fishers soon to raise funds for a Wright Sound WLA12a, in case I get lucky. What is a fair price for this preamp?
  4. Thanks for your suggestions Chris. I really prefer something with phono, and Wright seems like an excellent choice. I could place a wanted ad on AudiogoN, but it will be taugh to find one for around $500? I haven't seen any lately.
  5. I had this thread bookmarked to help me with my future pramp purchase, and the time has come. I would prefer to get a 6SN7 based preamp with line & phono for my DRDs. Since the DRDs left a big dent in my wallet, I would like to consider something for around $500. Can this be done? Any suggestions?
  6. Cut-Throat, I know Ron recommended the SS rectification, but I am hoping that smoother vocals would make up for slight loss in bass response. I ordered the ultimate version with padauk wood upgrade as well. I also like the Coco Bolo but $130 was a bit too much. Now I have to think about a worthy preamp. Any suggestions?
  7. cut-throat: I placed my order for DRD 2A3s this afternoon, and Erik was kind enough to offer to put them together for me. I cannot thank him enough for this. It should be a rare opportunity to compare them with his improved Moondogs and Horus amps. I can't wait.

One of the tubes started glowing red and I haven't been able to figure out the problem. This has given me a major headache. Time to send another e-mail to Craig... Thanks for asking. kudret

  10. I'got a pair of A35s that are currently hooked up to an SS Marantz receiver. Not a good combination though. May be I should try them with Scott 299s?
  11. whell and Chriss, congrats on your Thorens 145 TT's. whell, Last time I heard Shure had increased the stylus replacement cost to $50. You might want to give them a call to check - Sorry, I don't have their phone number handy.

  13. Hey Don, I am not an HTML expert by any means, but I'll try to put together something basic that everyone can follow.
  14. Randy, We're getting there. I think first 2 zeros are for Red, middle two for Green and last two are for Blue. Try changing the first two or middle two zeros, or try both. Here are some you can try: FF0033 or 9900FF or 0099FF, etc.
  15. Randy, I'm glad you liked it. Edit it one more time and erase all <BR>'s to delete the extra lines in between. Also, if you don't like the blue color, erase color="000066 " to make it black.
  16. randy, Sorry I can't help you with your transformer wires. Craig should give you all the help you need shortly, but try this for your sig. 17. Craig, Congratulations on your Cornwalls. I'm sure you'll love them as we all do. Probably you knew about this page, but just in case: http://home.earthlink.net/~ivol/klipsch_cornwall/klipsch_date_codes.htm I couldn't figure out the year of your Cornwalls though. Good luck.
  18. My only experience with Fisher units is with a FM100B tuner, which, compared to the other tuners I have (Scott 310e), has fuller sound and more bass but it lacks in detail. I am not sure if this can be generalized, but may be Fisher units are not as detailed as some others, such as Eico and Scott. Incidentally, I have been listening to Scott 299B for a while and I decided to A/B it with the 299C tonight (B/C may be more appropriate in this case ). Last time I listened to 299C I remeber that I liked it, but this time even though it had more bass and punch, it lacked in detail compared to the 299B. I had to turn the treble to +3 to get acceptable detail on 299C. Anyhow, I put back the 299B and I'll keep it there.
  19. khorn58, I have a 310e as well and I agree with everything you said about it. I also have a Fisher FM100B and Sherwood 3000V. Fisher has a nice and full sound but it seems to be the least detailed of the three. Serwood is a good unit and is the least expensive one. I am looking for a clean 3000V myself for a while, but I havent's seen one on eBay recently.
  20. Allan, How does a 124 MKII compare to the MKI. Last night I was planning to bid on a MKII but the bidding quickly went beyond my reach.. maybe next time.
  21. Wow... I am sure they sound even better than they look. I think I' set this picture as wallpaper on my PC until the day I get a pair for myself. Enjoy them.
  22. >>Anway! If any of you know where I can get a Scott tuner dial I would appreciate it.<< Erik, I've heard of many people looking for HHScott dials but it may be impossible to find one. The only possibility could be to buy a unit like this. Good luck.
  23. Here is my Thorens 125-II and here is the bigger picture.
  24. >>Corns, Scott, $150 SOny SACD/CD --- not a bad system for the money. << Corns, Scott, $150 Sony SACD/CD --- not a bad system at all.
  25. No problem Dee. Marc is a very nice person to deal with, BTW. I bought some very nice 6DJ8's from him recently. He is also a frequent contributer on the HHScott forum and he has helped me a lot with my restoration questions. Good luck.
