  1. Hi, I have a buddy in the Bay area who has a Sonance Sub amp and wants to get it looked at for repair. He is not a DIY type and just wants someone to look at it and either fix it or tell him to get a new one. Sounds like its in some protection mode and when he opens it up he can see some arcing, but he doesn't solder nor does he want to take on fixing it himself. If there are any suggestions on good techs in that area I'd appreciate any recommendations Thanks!
  2. I have 2 Eames knockoffs and both are just too short for me at 5'10". They just don't come up high enough on my back to be comfortable to listen in. While the Plycraft knock off is better/taller, it's still not as great as the more retro chrome Ekhorns stressless chairs I have. The vintage chrome stressless is a bit more minimalist looking, but ultimately a larger chair and will recline to almost flat, with the ability to lock it into a position in recline. The original Eames Chairs have very little recline in them and are essentially fixed, while a lot of the vintage knock offs had more recline in them, but they were on a tensioned spring system, that is not able to be locked into a position. Here's a link of the Ekhorns Stressless Chrome: https://www.1stdibs.com/furniture/seating/lounge-chairs/mid-century-modern-orange-leather-ekornes-stressless-recliner-chair-ottoman/id-f_26550612/?utm_content=condensed&allowUniversalLink=no&gclsrc=aw.ds&gclid=Cj0KCQjwmPSSBhCNARIsAH3cYgYl_hpky90hn0Dh_h-sI12snk5JnH0sUNqWDMyHzWWytMz8DqQZ1AoaAnf5EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds I got my locally for ~$300 per chair and while they need to be refoamed and recovered, that shouldn't cost more than ~$1000 for both chairs. The vintage Eames knockoffs aren't that hard to recover either, because of how they come apart in panels. If you end up likening the Stressless, lemme know and I can check with the guy I bought mine from to see if he has any others. He flip's vintage furniture and gives me really good deals, but we would have to ship it, which couldn't be too bad with Uship and I would be happy to help in any way I can.
  3. Or sell my La Scala 1’s and live with these………😬
  4. Damn, I want those! They’re closeish to my house in Portland, but I’m in Chicago for the next two weeks. I bet they won’t last that log though. If I was close, I’d certainly buy and hold for someone if need be too….😁
  5. I was going to guess that! I want to try a 46 and a Type 10 from him.
  6. Looks like a lot of amps you have back there. Do you build them for others? or just yourself? Love the corner details on this one.
  7. God, I def don't have that type of dough for a system, not all at once at least! Would have been cool to listen to them though!
  8. Mmmm, that doesn't mean they're gone at Echo. You can still go an "purchase" them and get put in the que if the person that "purchased" them.or loaned them out passes on them.

  10. You may want to spell out his phone number so the bots don't pick it up and begin spamming him. : )
  11. It's marked Sold. I can also confirm its sold as I considered buying it.
  12. Came across this add and wondering if there is anything good in here? https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/649276936217751/?ref=search&referral_code=marketplace_search&referral_story_type=post&tracking=browse_serp%3A00454685-7edc-48a6-92aa-8d9c4b334674 Seems like some cool speakers, but I dunno how well or not well regarded they are?
  13. Okay, I'll take you up on your help. I'll order the socket and PM you a photo of what it looks like now and we can chat about how to put the new one in when it get's here. Thank you!!
  14. Its not on a PCB this amp is all point to point. I haven't considered replacing the socket. How much does a good socket cost? I have some basic soldering skills, so I bet I could do it, so long as I don't need tools to measure it after its been replaced?
  15. Looking to run a Type 80 rectifier in my Oliver Sayes that has 5y3 right now, so here I am seeing if anyone ahs an extra adaptor they'd like to sell before I order all the way from China. I found a Majestic 80 globe that tests NOS at an estate sale today for $8 and then also have some ST shape 80's that I'd like to give a listen to.
  16. I did have the thought to buy them along with a bunch of resistors, but then I was thinking that I didn't want a bunch more clutter on my each, so I didn't buy them. There was a bunch of electronics stuff like that at this sale. Next time.
  17. Well geesh, I wish I would have known that last weekend. I went to an estate sale an they were selling like 100 of them for $10. They're probably in the trash now......😕
  18. Correct. No load going to the speakers when disconnecting then.
