  1. Who said 2 triode power tubes per channel is automatically a parallel circuit? Obviously you can use 2 triode tubes in a push pull amplifier, but then it is no longer SE (single ended). Dick Olsher in his review of the Audio Mirror calls it a PSE amplifier. Ever know of any stereo equipment manufacturers that keep things close to the vest or get creative in their descriptions of product? For another poster: when a tube that is normally considered an "output tube" is used as a driver tube it is no longer an output tube driving the speakers, but simply a tube used to drive the output tube. Therefore the amp remains a single ended amp with 1 output tube per channel.
  2. I tend to agree that a single tube is usually better as it eliminates needing very well matched pairs/side or circuitry that helps the 2 tubes to play nice with each other. When made right PSE can be very impressive. My experience with PSE amps parallels (pun intended) @OO1's statement about them sounding much more powerful than the watts/ch would indicate. Paralleling tubes reduces the output impedance by half which may be beneficial with some speakers.
  3. As mentioned by @richieb tubes can be paralleled and still be used single ended. I had a McAlister Audio PSE that used sweep tubes for 15 watts/ch, an excellent amp. There have been a few PSE amplifiers made and sold as regular production by known brands and builders like Dennis Had will make them on request. Just like any amplifier they have their strengths and weaknesses.
  4. @aperfectcircle If I were you I would try to check out the diy community in Vietnam. I read on another forum how there are some very good builders using high end parts and excellent designs. The thread starter (on the other forum) is from the US, but was able to purchase an amplifier from one of the better known diy builders there and he posted pictures of the amplifier. It is very well built and beautiful.
  5. You just reiterated what was in your original post, didn't answer my question but that's okay. Hope you figure it out.
  6. Obviously the Ohms will not timbre match the RC-52II center, may not be important to you. Why would you move the Ohms away from the front wall? They were designed to be used against the wall. For music I would want to use the Ohms, but for HT/gaming it wouldn't matter at all to me.
  7. And at least one really bad review with measurements.
  8. Almost everyone I know uses NHL/NBA buildings as their reference sound.
  9. Happens on all forums. I have Belden 9497 which is 16 gauge, but use it doubled up for @ 13 gauge. In certain circles I don't mention the doubled up part so I don't have to hang my head in shame. 😁
  10. @Islander You made a comment about it in a thread from 2010. "Since that bass peak is caused by the dimensions of the La Scala bass horn"
  11. Here is a summary that of course is slanted to their amplifiers, but it is fairly accurate. https://benchmarkmedia.com/blogs/application_notes/audio-myth-damping-factor-isnt-much-of-a-factor Here is a better summary https://butleraudio.com/damping1.php Floyd Toole basically says a damping factor of 20 is sufficient, the rest is up to the speaker.
  12. And yet it's just as meaningless as 4,000.
  13. Nice purchase. Give the woofers a few more days of use, they will reward you. Play music you would use to demo a subwoofer.
  14. The Stereophile review of it was favorable. Good to know it works well with Klipsch Heritage models.
  15. Obviously enough to make a coupe of posts about it. 😁 (meant in a good natured way)
  16. My CWs and LSs sound effortless with my single digit watt amplifier. 😉 The ATC SCM 11v2s (85dBs 1w/1m) I had required around 20 (tube) watts to get there. Lowest solid state amplifier I used was 50 watts and it got the job done also.
  17. Do you know how to do an internet search? It's real easy and can eliminate a lot of guess work and silly posts. A lot of audio companies have been using it for some time. http://www.atma-sphere.com/en/classD.html https://gansystems.com/newsroom/extending-lead-in-class-d-audio/ https://futureaudiophile.com/what-the-hell-is-a-gan-gallium-nitride-amp-and-why-is-it-changing-the-way-audiophiles-now-see-power-amps/
  18. JA in Stereophile measurements: "and as the amplifier has an output stage that resembles class-D, I inserted an Audio Precision AUX-0025 passive low-pass filter between the test load and the analyzer." No need to insert a low pass filter with an A/B output.
  19. No longer For sale is a pair of 1982 Cornwalls Birch Raw in fair condition (for age and multiple owners) that were refinished 2 years ago. The black painted fronts and the back panels were not redone. They were pretty rough when I got them, but the cabinets are solid and the new finish makes them very presentable. The original thin insulation was in bad shape so I took it out and added Sonic Barrier to all surfaces. There is a short tear in one woofer that I applied a small piece of fabric like paper with Elmer's glue to the back of the cone. They have new risers. Grills are included but are bent and may not be usable as is (I never planned to use them), unfortunately only one Klipsch badge survived 40 years.
