  1. I have read it 4 times, so I'm not sure what you're referring to. But, at any rate I was asking you what your favorite Cap was.
  2. 'Cost no Object' does not mean expensive, it just means your favorite Capacitor regardless of cost.
  3. OK, that makes sense.... I had thought you were using the Copper ones
  4. On the parts Connection Website the Jensens are more expensive than a Mudorf Silver/Gold in Oil.......So, I'm confused???
  5. Dean, I think the answer to this question is that "Caps are hard, if not impossible to audition" for the average guy. You can attend the RMAF and you cannot audition Caps. You only see finsihed products. You can buy old tubes on e-bay and if you don't like them, you can turn around and sell them and get your money back or even make a few bucks. If you buy Caps, you probably have to have some soldering skill and if you don't like them, you are stuck with them. I for one am shopping for Caps currently. If you told me to buy the Mundorf Silver/Gold in Oil, because they were the best Cap available for my network I would certainly do this. But then, I might go on-line add them to my shopping basket and later find out that I couldn't get them. Even you have had this problem, right? Should the average guy buy Caps based on this review? http://www.humblehomemadehifi.com/Cap.html
  6. Eric, Yes, I have done this also. I have also heard that you can introduce some 'not so nice' things when another cap is acting as a bypass cap. I was wondering what Deans opinion on this was
  7. Yes, I see the answer now. I was not looking at other people's posts. I have another question for you. Let's say that you need a 6.2 uf Cap and they only have 5.6uf and 6.8 uf values. Would either of these work, or would you tie a few caps together to try and and make a 6.2uf? Or would you look for another Cap Brand?
  8. Well, I guess I missed your answer.....Thanks Where could I buy the Jensen Caps?
  9. Well, it will make sound for sure.......Have you heard it on Khorns ever? Ever compared a bryston to a Good Tube Amp? If not, you might want to auditon some Amps on Khorns in your area. People on this forum readily give auditions of their gear. Where are you located?
  10. Dean, In case you missed my question on Facebook, I'll post it here. You had mentioned to me once in an e-mail that you considered the V-Cap Oimp Capacitors to be the very best in Crossovers. Is that still your opinion? Have you ever tried the Mudorfs?
  11. I use a guy in Michigan (Dan Crosby)....Quality stuff....Much better than the original. Customized to your choice of Stereo Gear, Wood, Options etc. http://mcintoshcabinets.com/pages/fisher.htm I have bought about 5 cabinets from him. There are a lot of pictures of my gear on his website. My Marantz 20B, 26 receiver and Fisher 500B. Here is my Fisher 500B with a Burl Wood Bubinga Cabinet made by him. As usual, this forum chops off the right side of the picture. It's all there when I edit it, but it displays it truncated.
  12. What speaker did Kudret end up with? That's what I want to audition! []
  13. I can't help you with the building, but since you helped me design my crossovers, I am more than willing to pony up a few bucks to get you some La Scala Bass Bins...It's the least I could do!
  14. Pat, I for one would like to hear these horns!......Are you aiming for a Jubilee type setup?......Or what are you planning for the Bass Bins?
  15. This review does not agree with you. http://www.gadgetreview.com/2012/09/mog-vs-rhapsody.html And my main reason for liking MOG is the Sound Quality! From the review : Sound Quality Audiophiles will LOVE MOG because it streams at up to 320kbps all the time (CD quality non-stop!). Rhapsody’s sound quality is: 256kbps CBR MP3 for purchased tracks and 192kbps CBR MP3 for streaming to home audio devices. It’s 128kbps AAC when streamed via a PC and 64kbps ACC+ or 192kbps AAC for streamed or downloaded tracks to Android devices, while iOS ones are 64 kbps ACC+. Winner: MOG’s 320kbps takes this one! Catalogue According to MOG, they have 15 million tracks, and have deals with the likes of Sony Music and Universal Music group. Oh, and music producer Rick Rubin is on their board of directors. Rhapsody is said to have more than 13 million titles in their music catalog. BUT they also teamed up with MTV Networks so members sometimes get music before it hits stores. Winner: MOG
  16. No where in this thread does anyone mention 'two sets' of speakers. If you are confused that there are 2 serial numbers per speaker, that just the way it is. I suggest you read the thread again carefully. In the early-mid 80's (generally starting in 1984), Klipschorn's had two serial numbers assigned to each speaker; one for the bass bin and one for the top section. The bass bin had an "L/F" at the end of the "type code" and the top section had an "H/F" at the end of the type code. BTW - I picked up my Oiled Oak Khorns in Mint Condition in 2005 for $2500. I had to drive 700 miles to get them.
  17. Possibly.........But it would be nice if the software 1.) Gave me the error that I'm exceeding the Max Size allowance. 2.) Shrunk the picture on all sides instead of a blunt right side truncation 3.) Didn't show the whole picture on an edit, so as to tip you off that you have offended it. I understand software, as I write it.
  18. The Fisher 500B IMHO is one of the coolest Looking Retro Receivers. I was on the Hunt for one several years ago and finally found an excellent condition one for $400. Under the tutellege of Craig at NOS Valves (Thanks Craig !), I recapped it and peformed the other necessary procedures to bring it up to snuff. I bought a Custom Made Cabinet that is truly stunning. All in all I've got about $1300 in it and a lot of fun. It turned out very Nice. BTW - If someone can tell me how to keep my pictures from getting truncated on the right side in this forum, I would appreciate it. They look fine when I edit the post, until it is submitted. Thanks.
  19. Looks Great !......What will it sell for ?
  20. Get a Squeezebox Touch...They are discontinued now, but you can find them on e-bay once in awhile.
  21. MOG has a far better 'Artist Radio' than Pandora. With MOG you can select: 1.) Artist only radio 2.) A few similar artists 3.) Some similar artists 4.) Mostly Similar Artists 5.) Similar Artists Then add to that the superior Audio quality of MOG over Pandora. You just need to play with MOG some more to understand its capability! Also, I use a Samsung Tablet with my Logitech Squeezebox with LMS and it works as well as my Laptop or Desktop
