  1. Other than this, what kind of rack do you use?
  2. Custom Built is my Preferred Rack. I decided I would stay in my place for a Long time, so committed to a Wood Shop for a Custom Built Stereo 'Rack'.
  3. I was mainly using ickstream to run through my Squeezebox Touch. I also used the desktop version to try it out. I have dropped TIDAL now, mainly because of content. It is severely lacking compared to Spotify. I will continue to use Spotify.
  4. This is one thing that I did NOT like about Spotify. Sometimes I just wanted a Favorite Track and NOT the Album and NOT the artist.
  5. So, how are you streaming Tidal. As far as Player or Browser....Connections to a DAC etc. etc. ? Can you give me all your specifics? Thanks.
  6. Theres another called Orastream but as far as I know they are exclusively classical music. Im very impressed with Qobuz but getting a subscription required a email as they are not officially up and running in the states. That said they got back to me in about an hour after I sent my request and hooked me up via paypal. I use Spotify that has about 20 Million Tracks. I have wondered about Qobuz....How many tracks in their library? How much is their subscription per month? Can you read the material.... I thought it was in French?
  7. These mini amps are new to me and I dig the low cost. Could I use one of these to bi-amp my Khorns, using it for the HF, and a Sansui 9090DB for the LF? Currently using the 9090 for both. Are there other in-expensive tube amps to consider (let's say < $300)? I know it is personal preference, but would it be a noticeable improvement? Would I need an external XO? Yes, you could certainly Bi-amp with one of these. The amp part is easy. The crossover is the hard part. Not hard for DeanG, but hard for us mortals.
  8. If you are into Tube Amps as I am, I have one of these for my 'Travel Amp'. 20 watts per Channel 6 1/2 inches deep and your requested Volume Control. Only $200 ! Only 10 inches wide. And yes TUBES !!
  9. Not relevant. It's what sounds better. I have a 300B SET amp that puts out 8 watts per channel, my 2A3 SET amp puts out 3.2 watts per channel but sounds better than the 300B amp. I have a 45 SET amp that puts out 1.8 watts per channel and sounds better than the 300B or the 2A3 amp. Listen to the amps and pick the one that sounds better. The specs are pretty much meaningless.
  10. I am one of those that like failure and dissatisfaction. I have 3 SET amps, 2A3, 45 and 300B..... The 45 gives me the most dissatisfaction, and that is why I listen to it most of the time. I bi-amp with 600 watt per channel Class 'D' amps, but most of the time I don't turn the chip amps on, so that I can listen to my 45 amp clip and achieve the most dissatisfaction. What I am trying to achieve is the ultimate misery and may seek out a 10Y amp so that it can clip at even lower volume than my 45 amp. YMMV.
  11. When you contradict yourself you lose all credibility. Why can't you give a straight answer? Are you afraid of something. If someone asks me the Best Amplifier or Speaker that I've heard, I have no trouble giving them my opinion.
  12. I tried a couple that an audiophile friend said "Were Great" and they sounded the same as my OFC Copper ones. How do you know which ones to evaluate? What do you look for? Solid core copper or stranded? I don't judge a cable until I hear it on a number of systems and/or locations. I use Stranded.... So, what is the Best cable you have found so far?
  13. I am guessing that these were made in the 60s-70s or so. So they are probably about 40-50 years old. Just like Khorns !!

  15. I am selling my pair of Altec 288-16K drivers in Perfect working order. $600 for the pair. They are very heavy at over 30 lbs. apiece, so shipping is fairly expensive at $75 for the pair. Pickup is welcome in the Minneapolis area.
  16. Horns have been sold on e-bay, So I am now parting out the rest of the stuff. Here are the Altec 288-16K Drivers for $600 for the pair. Pristine Pair in perfect working order. These Babies are heavy at over 30 lbs. apiece, so shipping will be fairly expensive. $75 Shipped to anywhere in the U.S. See, my other ad for the drivers.
  17. How can you tell what is "Better Cable". If I buy 100% OFC Cable, is there anything "Better"? By listening evaluations. So, do you buy every cable on the market and listen to them all?
  18. How can you tell what is "Better Cable". If I buy 100% OFC Cable, is there anything "Better"?
  19. I don't buy music any more. I rent from Spotify. $10 a month buys a 20 Million Track Library.

  21. Why are you keeping the Brand and Model of the Dac such a secret. You would probably get better responses if you told us what you were actually considering.
  22. Here is a very highly reviewed one for $350 that is also made in the U.S.A. - Chances are it performs better than the one you are thinking about. http://schiit.com/products/bifrost Can you tell us what you are thinking of buying? Maybe someone has compared it with others??
  23. Tell the seller you need some better pictures as it will require a road trip on your part. Make a down payment via Pay Pal before you leave on the road trip so the seller won't sell them out from under you. (I've seen it happen before)
  24. $1500 is cheap..... The problem is: How would you get them home?
