  1. I agree that the seller has a right to privacy. Especially if it's stated in the terms of the auction, there's really nothing to complain about. Overpriced shipping is another, but that was in the listing as well. I've gotten some good deals on listings like that. People freaked at the high shipping cost and stayed away. Bottom line price is what matters to me when bidding.
  2. Fair enough. I like the look of rosewood, but like the sound of maple. They'll all be swamp ash, so hopefully I'll luck into a nice grain like the top one. U-Crest Music outside of Buffalo is where I'm buying. MAP looks like $499, judging by ebay prices. I've heard that the new ones are made in Indonesia instead of Korea (still Cort), but are as good or better. I've followed G&L's work on the Tribute line over the years & I trust that they are making money on them and will maintain the quality like they have with the previous move from Japan to Korea.
  3. Good advice. I think the black p'up option is getting more action because of the nicer body in the photo, and it looks better with the rosewood. Any comments on the blueburst? I'm a little bit on the fence here.
  4. Have you ever seen a guitar configured in such a fashion? That could be kinda neat... setting each string to a different channel Could be rather dizzying to listen to though Or... we could just post 2 channel audio stuff in the 2 channel audio sub-forum, and other items which may not have a sub forum here in the "General" sub forum... Just a thought. Appears whoever laid the ground work for the forum hierarchy might have had the same general idea. http://www.rolandus.com/products/productdetails.aspx?ObjectId=651&ParentId=55 Been around for about 20 years. You'll notice that under the 2 Channel Forum heading it notes that if one has a question regarding speaker/amp matching, one should post it here. There are many, many threads that don't really conform to that ideal. You've got work to do.
  5. Shawn, None of this is against forum rules, to my knowledge, including your posts here. I don't quite understand your explanation that your attitude is "common etiquette". Perhaps you meant that I should post elsewhere rather than answering my query as to your attitude, despite the fact that off-topic threads are as old as this forum itself. Every now and them some newbie gets bent out of shape about it and they either go away or get tired of being told to mind their own business. You seem fairly dedicated to the pursuit, by a quick perusal of your past posts. Congratulations on that. Common courtesy (and forum rules) would dictate that if you have a problem with the way the forums are run, the proper venue is with a moderator, not within a thread. I think it reasonable for me to respond to you as I have. I posted something looking for opinions in a venue where I know a lot of regulars, and a lot of regulars know me. You jumped in with this nonesense and it's a bit irritating and distractng from what has otherwise been a nice little conversation.
  6. Bridge pickup through a 60's Vox on 8. That'll do. It'll drive the fleas out of the room if doesn't kill em first...
  7. I explained my reasons for posting this here. Can you explain your attitude? You've been a member for a whole year and you think you need to police the forum for something that no moderator (employed by Klipsch, who happens to own this space) has ever had a problem with. You don't like the thread or its location? Don't read it. This is all pretty childish of you.
  8. No thanks. Got an opinion on the finish for a guitar that A) I can afford and is a G&L S-500?[]
  9. I wouldn't even consider spending that much on a guitar right now. If I did, it would probably be the Custom Creation Comanche Studio VI. http://www.glguitars.com/customcreations/Comanche_Studio_6/index.asp All G&Ls except the Tribute line are made on Fender Ave in California. The Tributes are made by Cort in Korea (older ones were made in Japan). They use the same pickups as the US stuff and are set up here before shipping. Street prices for G&L are just slightly less than similarly featured Fenders. The Tributes smoke the Mexican Fenders that I've played.
  10. I hardly ever post there. I know way more members that post regularly in 2-ch than any other forum. While I appreciate your sense of order, I've been around here a while and have never heard of Klipsch having a problem with threads like this. OK?
  11. Duke, I thought about it, but I don't feel like making a big deal out of hunting for the right one. I played a couple Tributes at U-Crest in Cheektowarsaw and I dig em. The S-500 gives me switching like the Gibson S-1, which I also dig. I'll probably sell my Epi LP Jr w/ S-1 pickups as well once I get this. The MFD single coils are sweet. They also have global passive bass and treble tone controls, which is more useful than the Strat set up. I was kind of looking forward to beating the crap out this MIM for a while, but that's ok. I can get a new Tribute S-500 for around $450, which is just ridiculous.
  12. I'm selling a Mexican '99. Three color burst, maple board, no mods. 7/10(?) condition. PM me if you're interested.
  13. I'm selling my Standard Strat to get a new G&L S-500. I'm trying to decide which finish to order. What do you think and why? Fingerboard would be maple on all of them - I couldn't find a pic of black covers with a maple board. Knobs would be chrome. [Poll]
  14. Sorry, no idea. They came highly recommended but I was not concerned about exact sensitivity as I'll be triamping at least at first. Outta my budget right now, I'm afraid. What I'd really like is a 100dB/w/m ribbon that's around 40x20 at around 5kHz. And under $100 each. Yeah. That'd be nice. I think I will have to stick with good ole compression drivers for now....
  15. Buy the ART. Nobody you know works for Rolls, right?! []
  16. The Spankers are playing two sets this Friday night at the Saxon. Ahhh the small synchronicities of life!
  17. To each their own, but I can't stand the whole Mannheim Trans Siberian thing. This is more my speed:
  18. Wow, Steve. You've likely heard more high-end speakers than any member here. If you don't know by now which direction your preference lies, I can't believe that a thread like this (where nearly everyone will recommend that which is most like what they own) can help. My advice is to buy both. Post a comparo and we can all defend our prejudices!
  19. I suppose if they interact electrically you coud connect a transformer isolater on the less critical amp.
  20. Fixed. Good choices on the gear, from what I've heard. Definitely a good move on the pre.
  21. Check the station's website. They might have a play list. If not, call the station.
  22. I've had mine in various size rooms, including too-small to just right. Even in a room that's too small, they sound better than most other speakers. I say get them, then put them in the room and go from there. False corners or simply detaching the top portions can remedy situations with less than ideal sweet spots. I think that my living room is just about what your larger room is, but I don't remember exactly and I honestly don't feel like going out to the garage for the tape measure. My ceilings are low (8 feet)and the Khorns always sounded exceptional.
  23. Are you sure you wouldn't like to go completely the opposite direction from what you've been happy with for three years? C'mon man, big Crown, DSP... it's the thing to do!
  24. Remember Dave, no good deed goes unpunished!
  25. I'll definitely be checking this out from work where broadband exists, unlike out here in the sticks.... Thanks for doing this, Dave!
