  1. If u want a desktop, assemble one by yourself, the current desktop i used upgrade like 20times+ and like 5+ computer I have already, I don't know how much would it cost if I buy the whole set every time (I think I upgraded my computer more than 150times since K6-2-400). If u need template for assemble one I also can help you(just PM me if u want) and u can bring the template to some shops and ask them to get them and assemble them for you. Still better than brand name desktop in my mind(I really really hate their mobo and limitation on everything even u can't switch OS) For the laptop..... I like Toshiba or IBM. I own a Toshiba tablet too . The portege series is just amazing(look at the R100, it's thinner than my screen lol).
  2. I just got my pair of RB-5II that I hooked them up to my system and tried to play some movies. I found out they performed unusal and they are lower tone than the RC-3II I have. It's not lower for more bass but the dialogue was lower for 8pitches. Do the speakers need some warm up and run them for hours in order to obtain the original sound??? (I know if they stayed in warehouse for months that the speakers may be frozen) Or is something wrong with the speakers? Thanks in advance

It seems to me that the people who post on this website are more than willing to spend extra on our audio equipment. That said, I don't think we're the ONLY ones willing to do so. Imagine an rf3 based ht system in the BB demo room and how much better it is than anything else they offer. Even at a higher price, I don't see how it couldn't sell itself in that environment. Throw an rf7 based system in there coupled with the $7000 big screen tv and see how that goes. I mean,if bose sells a hell of alot of $350 clock wave radios, I believe Klipsch can sell their reference line. Heritage, let's face it, just doesn't have the size, WAF that is needed today to sell on a mass market level. However, judging by the interest here in 10plus year old equipment, it could be sold in smaller upper end stores. I'd like to think you can be just as profitable by making a higher grade product as you can making junk to compete with klh and the like. Maybe it's time for an American company to raise the bar with quality instead of lowering the bar for price. That's the way it used to be. Think of how much of the products that we buy today are cheap in quality for the sake of price. I was always told that when you purchase something, buy the best that way you only have to buy it once. O.K., I'll shut up now, just my two cents. ---------------- I agree that, even Ref 15 25 series would be nice for selling in best buy. People who go to bestbuy can pay 250 for a cell phone when you can get one for free, why not a pair of RB15 for similar price?
  4. I own my elite 43TX and soemtimes it happens when I turn the volume high. It just happens to some of the violin at high pitches......... Well people don't hear much about violin solo tho(me neither). At the orchestra scale they performed fine(maybe the disk's problem, didn't own too much violin solo musics).
  5. It's always good to hear it's able to get into higher end, but don't forget it's not single upgrade. It may be the whole setup will be upgraded to 7s...... Seems really devil for upgrade bugs spreading around BTW I'll have keen interested in your RF-3II when u got your 7s

After a week of ownership. All I can say is wow does this setup sound great. I spent all day sunday mounting the rear channel's and running the wires through the basement. I can't believe that even regular TV sounds better. I've put in scenes from movies that I've watched 100 times, and I'm hearing details I've never heard before. Even at low volumes these things rock. I'm pissed that it took me this long to upgrade. Very happy. Hopefully the 30 pound center channel won't damage the top of my TV. Thank you everyone for your help. Mitsubishi WS656111 Klipsch Rx-3 II speakers Denon AVR-3300 JVC 30K DVHS Yamaha C920 DCDI DVD-A DVD player ---------------- Grats and enjoy that, I just keep turning it on when I was home most of the time(even I was doing my assignments )
  7. Try to look for the RS-3 too they are simply the same but only made better wiring and shield them magnetically.
  8. I agree with griff......... that's why there's so many monoblock amp. Even some poeple do with each amp per channel with the monoblock(or even seperate amp for bi-amping? ). It's always "not enough" but never "overkill/too much" Look at parasound, they even have the monster 400watts monoblock amp
  9. Thanks for the link gonna read it after I have 2 midterms tomorrow too long for me at the moment lol

Depending on where you are, though, maybe one of the other members (I'd be willing to do this) can snoop a pair out at their local dealers and mail them to you. That's legit, I think. ---------------- You know what? I definitely need your another help when I have my upgrade bug bite me alter . To the original post, you can call goodguys(west coast) or others like 6ave(NJ or NY)to ship you the model u want, they do have toll free......... which I really really don't like to call on phone for buying something(esp toll free) and made me got limited alot. I sometimes just feel strange for calling and speaking my credit card number........ just not feeling too right with that(which actually is absolutely fine, just my wrong impression)
  11. There's like two sides of a coin........ If you get the full range speaker, it'll be an identical system, which is really recommended by some people and even some dolby standards etc. As you get the center as RC-3, since the center in HT is mostly dialogue, the RC speakers perform a little more detail in mid(dialogue is also med range) than the RF(don't forget the center speaker is specifically designed for dialogues in HT). But the RF still doing great job on that. I guess you really have to try them out with your system by borrowing from some authorized dealer for trying which is closer to what you are looking for. It seems to be more listening habit preferences than absolute better in either side. Just my 2cents, others may give you better idea about that
  12. Rest of the unauthorized are being sued by klipsch........ if u want to get them online, I guess you have to get them from goodguys or soundcity? But well the better thing is always go to the shop that you can have(unlike me I have none around ) to negotiate the price with them

However I was asking about using chairmat to isolate the bass to downstairs of my landlord's bedroom, anyway it still helps now(still turning up higher at the night than before) You got 20 more times as much as the post I'm having
  14. I second that if u are going to add them as 6.1
  15. First u have to tell us your budget for the whole setup If your budget allows you to do the whole setup of ref 25/35 series, go all the way for it. It's a lot or little depends on how much budget you have. The system will be 5.1/6.1 or 7.1? Subwoofer does cost the money as well. And you still need more bucks for the reciever sections. Well once it's from null to full it's like a huge scale upgrade(which your parents need inspiration of sound to solve that )

(I have a carpeted floor) I'm thinking it might increase the flow of air a little with the ported design of the RW-12. Any thoughts? ---------------- Thanks to TheEar told me this like few weeks ago: When u place some chairmat or anything board under the sub, it increases it's volume at low(not really significant at high). I just got my chairmat few days ago and tried out, nice modification for 15bucks and improving sound at low(I still listen to music or watch movies at night while rest of the house already fell into sleep)

Both "authorized dealers in my area, want $1500. for 2 RF5s That to me seems like they are the ones that should have been sued! I have found a company through a friend of mine out of state, who will ship them to me for a grand total of $1099 RF5s and $1509 RF7s? I say Screw the authorized dealers for that price! ---------------- They do give lots of supports for their speakers. For example you can take them home and try the speakers, getting disconut for negotiation(as usual, lots of big shops do like this to attract old customer), free upgrade and paying the prices' difference(which I really really love this, but crap there's no authorized dealer that I can reach), and the rep sales are better knowledge than any other as I've heard(they do give good opinion instead of asking u to buy expensive stuff). I wish I have one around and I don't mind to pay a the price by comparing to second hand on ebay or some online dealers.
  20. Someone who's interested, go to take a look of it . http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3077991340&category=14993 The shipping cost is $130 but the seller promised to pay half of the shipping cost if the buyer uses buy it now at $875. I wish I have a grand......... people who can afford and interested in RF-5, there's a pair around

Or should I bite the bullet and get a pair of RBs or RSs? ---------------- Quintets work quite well as the surround. It's not really too good by comparing to the RC3II or KSB 1.1 that I have for my mains and center, but they still do their job on their dispersing sound. The only complain is they are too insensitive that I had to turn up them to meet rest of my speakers. However as the budget they are great(90bucks for a new pair, don't expect ref lines' quality on them ) However, if you can squeeze into the ref line, always do so . As the surround L/R I'd stick with the RS but not RB. That's why I placed the quintet into the surround L/R(Getting replacement for the main and the KSB's gonna be the back surround )

When I listened to the RF7s at the store they were running on a Yamaha receiver and they sounded pretty harsh to me.. MUCH more so than my trusty old KG 3.2's. I know going in that the reference speaks are "brighter" in general because of their large horn compression drivers.. which is good (to a point) in my opinion since in my case they're going to mainly be used for HT. But, on the other hand, I don't want to have to stop a movie mid way because my ears are bleeding. Did I maybe run into a salesman looking to push a different pair of speakers (seemed very intent on selling me Monitor Audio gold series) or maybe Yamaha wasn't the best match for them? Anyway, it's either RF3-II's (if I can find a pair somewhere-- already have an RC3 II) or a set of RF5's. I don't mind spending a little more to get something good. It's worth it to me. Heck, I've had my 3.2's for more than 10 years and they're still going strong and sound as good as ever. ---------------- Some folks mentioned about the Yammy recievers are really bright, that's why it's not a majority here and the recievers comments lean towards Denon or H/K alot(H/K's receivers give really warm sound, great for classical musics in my mind. But a little too warm for me, I still have my rock/pop musics/action movies). There's few of them are happy with their Yammy recievers, but not much .

I don't think so, I'd say it depends on amp more than that
