  2. You need quote marks before between = and http. Try again. (edit) never mind. NOS to the rescue.
  3. That's AC/DC power chords. Or were you talking about power cords? I am confused. Not your fault, though.
  4. I see this is gonna be a real deep thread.
  5. Yea, I saw this before any bids were placed. The real "idiots" are the ones who put a BIN without a reserve and with a starting bid of $1. Now THAT's thickheaded. This seller also says that S&H is $38 but also states "actual shipping charges." Seller also says AS-IS but says nothing about whether it is working. If that really IS a pair, I blew it by not taking it (them). OR the seller thinks that by seeing two drivers, it is a pair. That auction is crap shoot.
  6. Alarming a dumpster or even putting camera surveillance on it is a common theft prevention measure. Employee A takes out trash which happens to have important/expensive property buried in it. Same employee returns at night to dig out what he put there or works with a friend to dig it out. (CCTV can catch the scheme on DVR.) This Eico amp could even have been such an item! Or, maybe not.
  7. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=50593&item=5757971627&rd=1 College students: Earn big bucks starting today! I've spoken to an owner of this amp. Apparently it is one of the best ever made and certainly the best Eico.

It's a good 110 db in the house, peaking at 117. ---------------- Have your hearing checked. That is concert level (or more) 10 rows back. The problem is that you don't know what is too loud and you could be slowly losing your hearing. That is why you can listen to those levels on a regular basis now. Check out this site for what you are slowly doing to your hearing. I am not speaking to you as a superior - FAR from it. I am concerned that you and, perhaps others, are ruining your hearing. The ability to tolerate destructive sound levels is nothing to brag about. EDIT: Here is a review of a Yamaha receiver that also contains some good info on power vs. wpc. The reviewer believes that good amplification can be appreciated at much lower levels. Just a thought.

A Jack Webb, just the facts maam kind of place. But as has been mentioned you can get very useful information there and the people tend towards being practical rather than delusional. Mechanical guys. ---------------- Perhaps Altec owners spend more of their time listening to their systems?
  10. Let your amps warm up, put on some tunes with good vocals. Sit back and tell us if the singer(s) don't sound like they are in your living room.
  11. If there is one thing to learn from a career in sales, it's knowing the right questions to ask. Not everything is as it appears. Knowledge found is more valuable than knowledge received and getting burned is a humbling experience. I would imagine that these trophies need more than just polishing and that is why they were let go so cheaply.
  12. ---------------- The D'Appolito design interests me. ---------------- The Academy employs a D'Appolito design as well.
  13. Congratulations on making through the day clean. I have heard many good things about the folks at AA. I have met some who have nothing but praise for the help they received and gratitude for the new life they found. Humbling yourself by accepting help is the first step into the door of healing. I hope that we who read your posts are challenged to face our problems head on as you have undertaken to do. Keep it up. Find the Strength you need. It is better to walk with a stone in your shoe than live with a boulder in your path.
  14. Floor space a problem? You are either gonna put a TV or 2C rack on that same wall so who cares about floor space? The Cornwall is actually quite shallow @ ~16" deep. Width is also a non-issue since you are not going to butt them against the the audio like some of those enviable enthusiasts on Asian audio sites. That said, the Cornwall does have a big facade compared to the Chorus or Forte. But, put on some good music, and any Heritage, Forte, or Chorus will give you great sound with decent front-end electronics. If you love great sound, make way for the equipment that will give it to you. How serious are you, anyway?
  15. Nice console. That case was underpackaged from what I see.
  16. Awesome. The seller AND buyer are both happy. Khorns for less than Corns and 10 miles from each other! Congratulations!

The pricey Monster Z1's and Cardas 300B's are piled up in my junk room somewhere. ---------------- I'd believe anything about you, Dean. Thank you for sharing.
  18. Is there an audible difference between switchboxes?
  19. This is just to add another post. c-ya. Has anyone seen HDBRbuilder? Just wonderin' how the guy is doing.
  20. Your KG-4 is krap compared to the Cornwall. Sell your KG-4 for $200 and get the Cornwalls for a $275 upgrade cost. Who cares about the side? Put it against a wall so you won't see it. Once again, the Forum Intervention Strike Team (F.I.S.T.) saves another soul from audio mediocrity.
  21. I am facing the liklihood that I will never build a pair of Cornwalls. What should I ask for these? They look and work fine.
