  1. http://austin.craigslist.org/ele/442768818.html Nice TT. In fact, one followed me home tonight. Thought if anyone in Austin was interested, it could be worth a look if it is still available. Nope, not mine. I am far, far away in Maryland.
  2. This is not your son's PS1. http://www.audiopt.net/cabos-acessorios-diy-tweaks-tratamentos-acusticos-racks-f6/caixa-para-a-ps1-em-mdf-t724-15.htm
  3. Colter, what are you runnin' there, bro? I am using a 17" Mitxubishi Diamond Pro 930sb at 1152x864 on NVIDIA card and the images are clear and well sized (no LCD for me just yet). Surely you running some hi-rez stuff for your bizness, no? (jab)
  4. In a weird, masochistic kind of way, I am envious. Post holiday project to fend off the blues? I am sure the wife loves them.
  5. Does Google OWN the internet? http://www.phillysuperads.com/Garage_Sales_Classifieds_3_Huge_Yard_Sale_9_15,16__10AM-3PM_C318A171170P1/index.aspx Yard sale Saturday 9/15 and Sunday 9/16 10am-3pm 1410 academy lane in elkins park (off of old your road/611 near ashbourne road) Scott, Sherwood, Dynaco, Telefunken, Blaupunkt, +more electronics 1991 Saab 9000 turbo refurbished and inspected 107K miles 1983 BMW 533i automatic 175, 000 miles with 5 speed 533i parts car Epiphone 12 string acoustic guitar circa 1967 * Vintage clothes * Costume jewelry * Halloween costumes * hand-painted furniture and gifts * College and dorm room supplies * Tube amplifiers * Computers (MAC/PC) * PC accessories * Leather handbags * Silver * Glassware * TVs * Electronics * DVD and VHS Movies * brand new CDs * + much much more!
  6. I once heard some 40+ year old guy say that a younger person has softer ear drums and therefore can withstand the noise better than those with older (harder) eardrums. He was an idiot. Protect your hearing at all times. I have some high pitch loss. In some circumstances, my wife can hear crickets and I cannot. That makes me a little angry about what I am missing.
  7. BTW, where did the Magnavox amp fit in? Did it go to a remote set of speakers?
  8. and tuner. (It was probably a 10b. Sorry, thebes. You still made out. Next time leave a little extra room in the van! [])
  9. Congrats. Nice find. You may find Telefunkens on that PAS-3! Many know more than me, but you may want to re-seat those tubes a few times before lighting them up. I had to learn to back off old stuff and not jump in with both feet too fast - lesson learned the hard way. Watch out for glowing tubes and keep your hand near the plug just in case. CHECK THE POWER CORD BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING. Dryrot can ruin your day. Sit back and be patient. Tube nirvana is not achieved overnight. However, many of us dream of finding gear like that. If you have the resources, professional guidance can mitigate a broken heart. Again, NICE SCORE! This is a fun hobby that keeps on giving. If you just like music, different systems will affect you differently, emphasizing different characteristics of the same recording. Only when you can afford your passion, will you have arrived, despite what you spend. I recently spoke with some folks about cycling. It seems that unless you have the latest gear, you risk being ostracized. Audio should not be that way.
  10. http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/ele/436034083.html If I had five bills to spend, I would pick them up in a New York minute. They even have pie slices. They may be gone by now. (not posting in the garage sale because I am not the seller)
  11. Jumping off the "there's something about tubes" thread, I bumped into a collector today and he related this piece to me. Please, no comments about NPR. That is not the subject of this thread. Try to keep from smiling while you listen to this linked archive about "Vinyl Junkies." I especially like the bit about the mesmerizing effect of watching albums spin around. Any regular NPR listener can probably relate to this phenomenon. [^o)] http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=1579382 (in background, from the screams eminating from SSE of me through my kitchen window, Bob Dylan must just have taken stage at Merriweather Post Pavillion. This IS a great place to live. http://money.cnn.com/magazines/moneymag/bplive/2006/snapshots/PL2419125.html)
  12. Sounds like a great time, though I don't relish classical. Could this rival Burning Man?
  13. What?! Michael actually SOLD some speakers?
  14. Back to the topic, those were my Dual and Miracord turntables. They were sold today to someone else - first come first served. Happy spinning.
  15. http://www.turntablebasics.com I found it looking for cartridge setup instructions. Other links would might be helpful.
  16. Maybe he'll trade for a pair of Heresy speakers. Just kidding. But then....
  17. Thanks for the heads up. That gives me a chance to listen to the VRDs a few more hours and return them before he gets back. The Khorns just would not fit in my car. I'll leave a note with my review and a bottle of '95 Château Lafite Rothschild in thanks for the loaners. Think he'll notice I upgraded the tubes?
  18. Use an adapter and small suction tube if you have one. Do you have one of those universal small attachment kits that attaches to the hose? Then, when you successfully withdraw the dimple out of the dome (that sounds funny, doesn't it?), turn off the vacuum cleaner while maintaining contact with the dome (now that REALLY sounds funny). That is what I did once and it worked just fine. You don't want to suck the dust cap right off the radiator.
  19. Well they got the "no lows" part right. (Please don't throw things at me.)
  20. What is that ugly thing on top? Is that an old Kenwood? That could be part of the problem. I have learned that horns require total immersion into tube territory.
