  1. So here it is, late in central maryland, just miles from ground zero, and I was just wonderin,' what's ya'llz favOrite old jam? Az I wus a playin some CCR, "Heard it through the grapevine." to be exact, I wuz a ponderin about those old jams. You know... the days when real musicians actually played instruments and such for more than the Top 40 prescribed under 4 minute rule. Listening to Ramble Tamble (great jam) on the same album as Run Through the Jungle, I did a search on YouTube (a rip off of Yous Two, a colloquialism, IMO!) and found this. If you are punchy, this might strike you as funny (it did me at 1:45 AM) Oh, and if you are into that, check out some Traffic jam. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlIonjhrNi0 No lip syncing allowed. FWIW, the foot.

  3. I found a write up on it: Der TD 316, das Shitzenmodell der 300er Serie, gilt immer noch anals einer der beliebteshitz Thorens-Plattensphincter. Dat bout zumz id up!
  4. Beatles music beats Stones marketing Mercy BEFORE Justice Contemplating NOTHINGNESS loses to trying to trying to understand SOMETHING Points and Dwell are great on '72 Chevelles and 442s 1 Corona LOSES to 4 Heinikens I live with 3 Blondes. Nolo Contendere.
  5. 'Dragged out my three pairs this weekend. All walnut beveled. I am refinishing a pair to show in the living room. Hey, these DO sound real good. I had about four different speakers in that room over the past year and these sound the best. The in-use pair have the new woofers by Simply Speakers and they sound pretty good. And that walnut! It is gorgeous.
  6. But you can't fire Maggie MG-1's with a 555-II. I tried. Thermal protection LED's lit up and I had to back it off. Hmph! You call that high power?
  7. "Huh?" Get used to saying that over and over. Try different inflections for variety. "What?" "Excuse me?" "Come again?" "I'm sorry, my mind was elsewhere. Could you repeat that?" You may come up with a few of your own. Anyway you try to hide it, your hearing range is gone, gone, gone. And it doesn't have to be rock. Classical musicians suffer from the same problems.
  8. If a man says something in a forest and there is no woman there to hear him, is he still wrong?
  9. I think that is the Model U-571 with the periscopic tweeter. You are missing the SUBwoofer. [H]

  11. This is a 1973 if that makes you feel any better.
  12. Thanks for your "reflections." I should have stuck with some kind of wash treatment instead of semi-gloss paint. But that seemed totally impractical for appearance sake. 2x bare sheetrock is the best, IMO. Surface treatments can just look ridiculous. Or, just find out what they use at multiplex cinemas. Or Acoustic Plaster. Now THAT sounds practical AND potentially attractive. http://www.customaudiodesigns.co.uk/articles/homecinema.html for gadgets. (Got me a pair of Bose 901's again. now I needs an EQ. Lucky me. They really are not that bad for 2C. Shhhhhh.)
  13. http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/ele/172894170.html No finders fee needed, but thank you.
  14. I suppose many have already seen this, but I thought I'd post it anyway. http://hytechsales.com/prod150.html I was amazed at the difference in acoustics in my basement "toy room" between the bare sheetrock and the final painted surface. I never knew this stuff existed.
  15. Many years ago, I saw the bigger brother (longer line of tweeters, I think) of those in a Goodwill store. Manager said they did not work. I could have had them for loose change, almost, just to get them out of the store. They were also those weird curtained cabinet things - very strange and very dated looking - definitely an attempt at WAF, curtains and all. Needless to say, I passed. If I had taken those home, I would probably have been sawed in half and buried in them. Okay, maybe that's not true. But to think that I could have flipped them for a few bills... Go for it, thebes. Then shoot us a pic of the twins modeling by each of those babies. I will even help you load/unload them.
  16. I think that few eBayers know that PRISTINE means like new out of the box, flawless, timeless, no sign of age, no chips, no rust, nothing that indicates age condition. Even MINT is misused. Call that buyer and sell him your New Orleans waterfront property NOW!
  17. That may help. I had a pair for a while. Great for HT but, when it came to music, no thanks. I needed an all-around speaker and I did not think that mandating tube amplification just to get good acceptable sound was justifiable.
  18. Yes. The most audible difference is the one you hear. [8] Or, something like that.
  19. Thanks. For a few moments, I feel normal.
  20. "painted and trimmed" I did not know that Home Depot offered a class in "domesticating" your spouse's hi fi. That is the ugliest thing on the planet...Uglier even than...
  21. She is wondering how those fit on the reel to reel tape deck. The take-up record is still on the table behind her. She will be there for a loooong time figuring that one out. AND, it appears she is a blonde.
  22. My TD125 Mk II has an Audioquest Sorbothane mat. The Needle Doctor recommends (prescribes?) it. http://www.needledoctor.com/s.nl/sc.2/category.420/it.A/id.50/.f
