  1. A small chain in the midwest, Ovation, was recently selling RF-5s for "Buy One, Get One Free". That came to $750 for the pair. Try to negotiate with your local dealer. I'm guessing that the middle level RF-5 probably has the lower sales total. Most people probably can only afford the entry level or want the top level.
  2. I've added some updated pictures of my system including my new Klipsch sign. http://gallery.avsforum.com/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=50506
  3. On the Blue Man Group DVD, it is spelled Baba O'Reilly. On their website, the have an interesting story why it is spelled differently from the version on Who's Next. http://www.blueman.com/complex/unmasked/u_bo.shtml
  4. glr, Rotel definitely wants you to go through your dealer. They will answer email quickly, but they always direct you towards the dealer if your problem still exists. Good Luck, Mark
  5. Yes, the 2003-04 Pistons are a class act. It's a nice change from "Bad Boys" Pistons. They were a collection of dirty players (Laimbeer, Mahorn and Rodman) and were at the other end of the class spectrum when they walked off the court in 91 after losing to the Bulls. Congratulations 2003-04 Pistons.
  6. *************** "A nearly 30-year career as one of the best drummers in the world and his big claim to fame is this? "Would have loved to stayed and listened to the Jeff Hamilton trio (played drums on Diana Krall's Live In Paris DVD). That was have been awesome in that intimate setting." I guess playing all those years with Monty Alexander, Bud Shank, Laurindo Almeida, Ray Brown, The Clayton Bros., the Clayton-Hamilton Orchestra, etc. just pale when compared with his work with Diana Krall. . . " *************** I'm not trying to say that is Jeff Hamilton's claim to fame. I am very new to jazz and that was my first exposure to him. I could tell from Krall's introduction of him that he has had a great career and is extremely talented. Again, I would love to have stuck around and listened to his trio.
  7. I also want to thank Trey and all of the other Klipsch representatives for a great day. Talk about customer appreciation. The little setup before the THX Ultra 2 set was quite impressive. I believe they were a soon to be released RSX-6 setup (retail $950 for a 5.1 setup). They would make a great setup for someone wanting to stay under a grand and use small sized satellites. Of course, they were driven with an Aragon amp and pre-amp that are definitely better electronic than the normal RSX consumer will be using. Then the THX Ultra 2 setup was demoed. Wow! Awesome! The Jazz Kitchen was very nice. The food was awesome, especially that pasta. The musicians were great, but the music was ruined by the woman who basically recited poetry over the music. I would have loved to stayed and listened to the Jeff Hamilton trio (played drums on Diana Krall's Live In Paris DVD). That was have been awesome in that intimate setting. Thanks also for the great Klipsch wall sign. It is already proudly displayed in my home theater.
  8. I know that my sub (SVS) doesn't come on if my volume is low (in auto mode). Maybe your sub's auto on mode is really sensitive to a decent volume level. Usually test tones come out pretty loud. This doesn't address your problem, but I would suggest that you up the crossover to 80 given the frequency ranges of your RC-25 and RC-35.
  9. Take the specs from the Klipsch website and modify a cardboard box so that it's the same size. Then you see exactly how they would like in your room. If have RB-35s for my side surrounds. They seemed quite large at first, but I'm used to they and I like them. How are you going to mount them? If I remember right, the RB-75s do not have a keyhole for rear mounting.
  10. I just bought a Monster Power HTS-3600 that I will be hooking up this weekend. When I reconnect everything, I would like to clean it up a little in back. If I only need a foot of power cord, is it ok to bundle up the extra and zip-tie it together or could this cause any interference or noise? What about tieing two or more cords together?
  11. I originally bought my component cables from Blue Jean. When I went to separates, I bought a 5-channel bundle to connect the pre-amp to the amp. I am very happy with the quality and value of their cables. I even got excellent customer service when I ordered a 6-channel bundle and then later realized that I really wanted a 5-channel. I called them the next morning (I had ordered at night), they changed my order and credited my PayPal account.
  12. Actually, it is Digital Visual Interface. If you are looking for a reasonably priced source of DVI cables, check this site out. http://www.pacificcable.com/dvi.htm I bought one of their DVI cables and it seems to be very nice quality. I have read that only certain types of TVs can really benefit from DVI such as plasmas and some others. Apparently the standard RPTV has to convert it to analog thus defeating the "keeping in the digital domain" advantage.
  13. Soundbroker, how about some more information on the chairs that you referred to?
  14. I picked up my replacement unit tonight. I've basically only gone through the setup so far. The good news is that the hum that I was getting is GONE!
  15. This apparently is not unique to my unit. It sounds like it was a problem with some but not all units. I would make an audio and a video connection to the same component (ex. DVD player) and see if you get a hum. Better to discover it now. If I had audio connected to one component and video connected to a different component, I did not get the hum. It had to be the same component.
  16. This is the best item description that I have found on an ebay item. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MfcISAPICommand=ViewItem&item=2389286139
  17. I took my equipment to the dealer today. With my speakers the hum showed up as expected. I also showed them an email exchange that I had with Rotel based on someone else's hum problem. The dealer called Rotel. Rotel said that they had a problem with either a loose or crossed wire creating an unintended loop. They are shipping out a new unit.
  18. After trying all sorts of combinations tonight, it seems to boil down to I get the hum when I have a video cable and an audio cable connected from the same component. I was always using the multi-channel inputs on the processor. I didn't think until now to try one of the other audio connections. If I only have an audio or video from a component, no hum. I can have an audio from one component and a video from a different component, no hum. I have experience the hum with two different DVD players and my satellite receiver. I guess I need to take the processor in and see what happens at the dealer.
  19. I haven't fix it yet. I'm going to experiment a little more tonight. I tried someone's suggestion of daisy-chaining each component's chasis with a wire to make a common ground. It didn't seem to make a difference. I emailed Rotel and they responded quickly but they weren't really of any help. They suggested that I contact my dealer which I haven't done yet. I will report my findings after tonight's investigation.
  20. Today, I got a mailing from Ovation (located in Indiana and Kentucky). As a past customer, I got invited to their VIP Private Sale on April 14th. In their ad, they list selling the RF-5 at "Buy one get one free" (list $750). I assume who has bought from them can go to the sale. They say that you need the mailing to get in or be a guest. I live 100 miles from the store, so I won't be going.
  21. Is this cheater plug an adapter that takes a 3-prong plug to a 2-prong plug? All of the plugs on my equipment are 2-prongs. Tonight, I tried a different DVD player. I had the same results. I guess I'll take it into the dealer next week and see if it behaves the same there.
  22. Tonight, I will hook up a different DVD player to try and determine if it's the player or the processor. I have tried different cables, so I don't think that's the problem.
