  1. Well since I have them sitting around I'll give them a listen. I was going to leave them mounted to the JBL horns. I might try them on the K-400. I don't think the throats are the same size though. Dean what did you do with the JM Preamp and the Quads that are pictured??
  2. http://cgi.ebay.com/Klipsch-La-Scala-Professional-PA-Speaker-LOOK_W0QQitemZ7379906639QQcategoryZ47094QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I thought the woofer had to be horn loaded.
  3. Do you have any pics of the revamped K-horn w/ the JBL and Beyma tweet?
  4. The driver is a monster, too. If I do this will I have to bi-amp, tri-amp, or ??? Will the new horn require more wattage? What does running your JBL mid do for the sensitivity? Yeah, we need to get together sometime and hook all this up sometime.
  5. I have a pair of 2445J mounted to 2382A horn lens. I also have a pair of 18" JBL Subs and I'm not sure what the 12s I have are. They're the kind with the tweeter in the center. I haven't opened up the cabinet yet. I know there are no drivers on the tweeters though. I also scored a plethora of SS amps that I have no idea what I'm doing with, yet. I have a QSC RMX-850, a Crown Macrotech1200, an Ashley FET-200, and a dBX1 crossover. I was considering possibly trying the JBL Horn out if I can pick up a pair of 2404H. You interested in building a crossover if I like this setup? I will probably try the dBX-1 first. Oh yeah, I also have a JM Peach headed my way. I'm going to have to start unloading some stuff soon. I'm running out of room!
  6. So what's up Dean? What amps are you running these days? Do you still have the '03 Khorns? I've been thinking about doing some crossover updates or possibly something drastic. I came into some JBL speakers that are just sitting around.
  7. jbsl, Did you get the SuperbA upgrade on that amp or is it "stock"?
  8. While you're at it get yourself some calous remover. For a guy who spends most of his day on his @ss your feet look awful.[]
  9. I was just over at bizzybee's website considering his TAD-150 preamp. Having a remote would be nice. I don't really care for his "end of the year close-out special" that is $100 more than what they were selling for 3 mos. ago!! ...but that's just me. His gear does look nice though. Did you get the SuperbA upgrade for your >93dB sensitive speakers. If not, is there a hummmmmmmm?
  10. Yep, those sure are perty; 'cept I wish the grain was going in the same direction on both the center pieces.[]
  11. Man, I sure would like to have those VRDs. I could finally get some use out of my Foreplay. Anybody want to buy a kidney???
  12. Dan, Why aren't those K-horns in those corners? Looks like you have a perfect listening room.
  13. It looks like he has a Dynaco ST70 sitting upside down on the back shelf. I need to try that!
  14. That's a bold statement, Mick! I've been dying to get my ears on a McIntosh MC-240. Not so much anymore. Maybe I'm not missing anything. Your SS McIntosh sounds every bit as good as the Jolida or the MC-240???
  15. I don't think the Chorus' had a bad year!
  16. I too have a Crown Microtech1200, but I haven't tried them on my Khorns. I use a 22W Scott tube amp and it has plenty of headroom for me. I normally listen to it around a quarter of the way up and go up to half if I'm rockin' out or watchin' a movie. That's around 107dB wit 112dB peaks if memory serves. I used to use an Adcom GFA555 and there's no going back to SS for me. Just my 2 cents. By the way the Crown runs a pair of 18" JBL 1000W Subs in a different setup. I do like the control SS has on Subs!!
  17. I'm listening to my HK630 @ work. The meters must look like the 430, because I have no idea what the heck you're talkin' about.
  18. I sure would Craig. What did you have in mind?
  19. Wud up, Piranhaman? Yeah I've been MIA for a while. Works been a real bi'atch. I should be around more often now. Hopefully I'll be able to make it to next years gathering.
  20. I myself built a Foreplay II about 18 mos. ago. Looks real pretty sitting on my shelf. It was a fun kit and if I ever pick up some monoblocks I might bust it out. Here's yet another option: http://www.audioelectronicsupply.com/cgi-bin/audioelectronicsupply.com/view_services.cgi?request=detail&dept_id=2&aisle_id=22&prod_num=AE-3_KIT I don't know how much that mapletree goes for, but it sure looks interesting... and expensive. You might want to try the diyaudio.com forum lots o' info.
  21. Craig, Yeah I've been pretty damn busy. Now that I have DSL at work I'll be able to post more. I still need my 272 looked at. John
  22. Lynn will definately be missed. We spoke on a few occasions when I first received my ASL 1003. He was a great person to talk to even if you were a newbie; very patient and never condescending.
  23. That is a meaty amp. I used one in my college days with Cerwin Vega AT-12s. A friend of mine found one being used by someone to hold up a corner of their bed. He traded a cinder block for it. We rocked out with it on several occasions. Another buddy of mine swears by his SX-1080. I'd say the $128 is the lowest you'd might pay for one at a pawn shop and the $401 is a minty one with box and manuals. They're worth about a $150 to me.
  24. You won't be able to use an infared remote unless you leave the closet door open or you relocate the infared receiver part. I'm sure someone makes a kit to do that. I rented a beach house that had a home theater room and all the components were locked away but there was a little infared receiver that was behind the screen and a universal remote to control everything. Maybe someone makes a universal RF remote you can use.
