  1. Community coffee, New Orleans Blend..........a little powdered cream stuff and a couple sugars, can do without the cream, but not without the sugar or something sweet in there. I just wish it would taste like it smelled in the bag.[C]
  2. Good for you X, that's something to be proud of, your doing the right thing. 35 is not a bad time to go back to school your still young, keep up the good work. In my daughters graduation class to be an RN they were people in there 50's, made my wife want to go back to school at 48. Good luck in school and with the new wife, you won't be sorry.
  3. Tell the truth Mr Photo , although that may be somewhat true. The truth is Michael is VERY GOOD with a camera and YOUNG LADIES. []
  4. How did you get to where you are today, Easy a hard head, didn't listen and stay in school ! Partly true, but we love what we do and that makes it fun to go to work. My wife and I do Landscaping, trees , Irrigation systems, beds, water features ( ponds, waterfalls ), in the garden, and sometimes flagstone walks and patios. Anything for the yard as long as it's creative. DTEL = Down To Earth Landscapes...................The name of our company, had many other jobs but none I loved, before this.
  5. I use a Forte ll on it's side for a center between 2 other Fll's. To tell you the truth I can't hear a difference because it's on the side. I sit about 10' back , so that may help, because I'm not that close. My vote Cornwall center without question, you will be so happy because of a " perfect " match, and if it bothers you, some here have changed the mother boards to verticals, it is an option.
  6. I was very glad to read this , only a few more to go ![Y] Can't wait to hear your oponion when you have at least 5.1 all Forte ll's setup !
  7. That would have been great, although I heard " one " of those monster speakers in Hope and it would not be in my best intrest to listen to a pair of them. $
  8. Congratulations moon dirt bikes are fun, don't worry about that $700 , when, you are falling it will be the best $700 you ever spent. Have fun, the main thing is watch out for cars , and be careful.
  9. Don't worry Christy and the rest of the family will get more of a break then they have been used too. When you have to depend on them the most is when you find out how much they really care for you, although I never doubted it, they all deserve a break ! Thanks OB, I don't know how you went through what you did, you are a tougher dude than I . I am offering my pic to be entered for the sissy of the month poster child, with a smile on my face and proud ![A]
  10. We just got back last night, so this morning I went back and read everything. First I have to thank my wife and family, I am VERY LUCKY. Although I never had any doubt in any of them it's nice to see how much than can look past all of the BS I have put them through in the past. [6] We were going to go up to the mountains this past Saturday for a week, and my friend / neighbor and his family were invited. I really didn't feel like going but I did not want to ruin it for everybody, and I would not have to do much of anything so we went. Now that's it's over I can say it was a good idea. The long ride in the car, bouncing around hurt a little but did help shake things up and got things moving, sorry no poop by poop descriptions or pic's. When we got to the cabin i found a big soft chair and watched it snow through the window, looking out at the mountains, that's the way to recover! I did a lot of walking and watched everyone play and sled in the snow, also did a lot of sightseeing riding around around in the car through the mountains. I feel MUCH better now ![] And to tell you the truth Fini, I did have a very nice looking doctor, and couple of nurses but, that was the last thing on my mind, OK second to last thing on my mind. If the Hawaiian tropic bikini swim suit team were there it would have made no difference, the only part willing to work was my eyeballs! [:|]..........................Everything is working again, had to make sure, I go back to the Doctor in about a week and just wanted to check in case she ask, just to be safe you know.[] But why I really wanted to post something was because of the people on this forum. It's way more than a group of audio nuts on a forum, it's a big family, and they care about the other people not just audio. I have had a chance to talk to some of you in person last year and look forward to it again this year. One of the the things about meeting some of you in person was I would talk to someone for a few minutes and think, nice guy or girl then look down to see the name tag and realize it was like meeting an old friend that you never met before ! And they were as nice in person as here on the forum, not really a surprise with this group. I only had a chance to meet in person the ones that went last year, and of course Michael when he came down here for a week { really great guy }, but no surprise there eather. I also got to meet Mac when we picked up Oldtimers Forte ll's, another nice guy on the forum. The people I met last year in Hope was only a small percent of all the people here on a regular basis, so if they were all to be like the ones I met in person, these people here are something special, by far not the average group of clowns off the Internet. The people on this forum are real, they are not here only looking out for their own interest, they go out of there way to help each other, I see it every day here. If you are here just to benefit yourself or make a deal, or sell something you are missing out on what really happens around here. I can't say enough how nice this group of people are, they have helped me and my family more than they know. Thank You All ............Elden. Ok back to my smart a$$ self............ Thanks again.....really [{]
  11. Yes DrWho it's flared, it's the the black plastic ones like you see on different sites, the ends are slid on and glued after you cut the tube to the correct length.
  12. Sorry to ask a question then not come back but I got sick. DrWho it was one of their plans at Adire Audio. Before when you would pick a driver from them, there were 3 different plans for tuning. I picked the one that was for HT ? As for as a good deal they are even cheaper right now, The driver is on sale for $99 and the amp Adire Audio AVA250 is $ 179. The plans for the whole thing were over 3 years old so I guess it doing OK. Thanks
  13. For some reason OB it sounds like you know a thing or two about giving your wife a hard time. Dtel has tried every way possible to "jerk my chain" the last couple of days. Between quitting smoking and the surgery he has been quite an old fart. But, this to will pass. After twenty eight years of him helping me (three C-sections and an open appendectomy) the least I can do is STAND MY GROUND. He is really a softie at heart and doesn't mean to be such a PITA, so I will go along with him for a few more days. Thanks for the threat.....maybe he will listen and lighten up a little bit. I know OB I will try to give her a break, I have told her I am sorry 100 times for all the extra things she has to do for me. She is helping me do things I would have never asked, but don't have a choice right now. I am lucky . I really want to thank everyone here, I was very surprised when she told me about this thread Also thanks Michael for starting this thread, someone needs to say something whenever someone here is down ! I didn't even have any way to read them but just knowing it was here made me feel better Thank you all, it does make a difference.
  14. I am having Christy write this for me...last time I sat here to reply to this post I got a charlie horse in my arm and almost pooped in the seat... So here goes...first of all I can't believe all the well wishes on this thread. I didn't believe Christy when she told me there were four pages on this thread, while I was still in the hospital. Once again, I have to thank all of you. Your prayers and thoughts are well appreciated. I must be the biggest ninny on the Forum and I do not have a problem saying that because it feels like I am dying from laproscoptic appendectomy and there is nothing wrong with me. I do not know how you guys that have had major surgery held on. If this what appendix feels like I do not think I could handle heart or back surgery, I would just have to die. OB my hat goes off to you. I have been trying to go to the bathroom so much whenever I walk by a toilet my a**hole tightens up. I have managed to sh*t myself a little bit. I walk around the house and it sounds like my stomach is boiling, but I walk up to the toilet and it stops.... As far as gas goes that has always been a breeze for me, but now that I need to expel gas it won't happen. I walk around the house and it feels like I could sh*t in just about any spot, but when I sit on the toilet NOTHING HAPPENS. Does anyone know of an upright toilet???? I have to use the urinal before I even get out of the bed...otherwise I would p*ss on myself. Again, I am officially the biggest ninny on the forum and I am not to proud to say that. I have been trying to catch a picture of the gas for everyone that has requested pics, but nothing comes out. This is the first time everyone in the house is happy for me to have gas..... Seriously, all of the thoughts and comments you have posted mean more than you guys can even imagine. It's nice to know we have caring friends and family here on the forum. And Paul (MeLovesKhorns) thanks for taking the time out of your busy schedule to call our home and share your professional expertise with my wife and daughter. We had planned a vacation beginning tomorrow prior to this surgery. After consulting with the surgeon we have decided to go ahead with the vacation. We will have two registered nurses (my daughter and our neighbor) making the trip with us and I am sure they will both be monitoring my every move. If I stay home I am sure within a day or two I would be doing more than I am supposed to, so I am better off taking the trip. Hopefully we will be able to post from time to time while we are gone and if not Christy will be in touch with Michael and he can let everyone know I am still alive. Again, thanks to all of you, your friendship means a lot, especially in times like this.
  15. I've been useing it for a couple years and got used to it. How does it rate considering it only cost about $350, would I be better off building something new or could I inprove this one with a bigger amp or different speaker ? Or just add another, sub for movies. 50 / 50 music / movies 5 CF cabinet ported, 4" port 12" long. Tuned to 18.1 Shiva Classic 12" DVC Displacement: 3 liters Specs taken with voice coils in parallel. 16. DrWho the Yamaha I have, RXV 730 is at 100Hz I'm almost sure , and gives no other choices. At first I ignored your advice and just left them to large. Then one day I was thinking ( that's scary enough ) that DrWho knows his stuff, let's try it. Well after switching back and forth with a concert DVD playing, that Dr Who is not going to college for nothing he is correct again ! It does sound better set to small, it's hard to belive when looking at 6 Forte's that they should be set to small ! Actually the bass is much better and cleaner set to small, but not less bass just better, tighter. I would think that is too many speakers trying to produce bass in one 18' X '24' space from 6 different angles makes it tough to get a nice tight sound ? I don't know the smart answer to this , but DrWho your the man, it works , that's all that matters ! One day I would like to see what you think of this diy sub, ( with the numbers ) or I may just make a new one in the future, or just a second one. Check in sub, section please, Thanks DrWho.
  17. First song........How about Old Love # 13 from the EC Unplugged, a great song. " Craig mentioned that the output tubes will need replacing. When I got a price a year ago on these, an EH 7591 quad was in the ballpark of $90- $100. I'm pretty sure we can get a couple folks to chip in and wipe the slate clean on this cost." We need to set something up when the time comes. [Y]
  18. Yes you would get bass down to the point of where your receiver's starts to send the signal to the sub 80, 100 Hz whatever your receiver does. I have some, but not in a HT, I use them for 2CH. For Ht I use Forte ll's set to small, with the 100 Hz and below sent to the sub. Dr Who recommended try it that way and after switching back and forth with a DVD concert playing it sounded better set to small. With all of them set to large the bass was kind of muddy compared to small. It had a much better overall sound with all of them set to small and everything else going to the sub. All Cornwall lll's would sound great, or mixed with the new Heresy. Because the new Heresy has the same mid and high frequency as the Cornwall lll, a perfect match .
  19. Sorry about that Roc I know you really need some, but it is a VERY VERY LONG way from Alabama to the great frozen north east in a car. And shipping is not cheap and very risky ! I really hope you find some soon, I am always looking, if I see something I will let you know. You will find some, it just takes time , keep looking and jump quick when you find some they don't last long when they show up. If you know any one who does woodworking or can veneer, almost any pair could be used if the price would make it worth fixing them up. Always looking.................
  20. Wow that looks great, very nice. It is one of the best looking rooms I have seen, makes me wish I had room for something like that. When people come over to watch a movie they must be shocked when they see that, had any guest over to watch a movie yet ? What did they say ?
  21. These Forte ll's are not for sale anymore ! The new owner is .........................Oldtimer, he contacted the owner last week and and set it up for us to pick them up for him. We left Saturday am to pick them up, and met the owner / seller Gibbymy 335 / Mac and talked with him about an hour. We even got to meet his neighbor, a very funny retired police officer, these two characters will get along just fine being neighbors. One thing I can say about Gibbymy335 is he takes care of his speakers, Canyonman was correct when he said Gibby / Mac was a nice guy and the speakers he had were in good condition. When we got home I took them out of the boxes and played with them for a while. I hooked them up to the HK 930 for a listen, ok a long listen, till Sunday pm. [] It was easier than moving my f ll's to hook up to the HK, and I had never listened to the Forte ll's on the HK since Arfandbark sent it here. Also I wanted to have them playing when we called Oldtimer to tell him we had got back and everything was OK. I can tell you one thing If you want a GREAT sounding 2 CH setup for a cheap price find a pair Forte ll's ( not in Roc's neighborhood ) and an old Hk receiver, you will be shocked ! It sounds better than anything I have listened to costing thousands more, and it's playing thru a $25 CD player ! Yes I read the other thread about CD players, not trying to start that up again. Back to the Forte ll's, there is not a scratch or mark that I could find ( with my glasses on ) on any part of these speakers, they look NEW. They are Oak Clr, but lighter than my Oak Oil or my Oak Clr, I guess it's just the way it goes when dealing with real wood. They are in better shape than mine and Oldtimer will be very happy with these, he done good. [Y] Thanks Mac and Canyonman, Oldtimer will be happy, and lucky to get is hands on these. Not exactly sure when that's going to be yet so back in there boxes they go, waiting for there last road trip to Oldtimer's house. When I first bumped the " for sale " post up to the top, I knew Roc was looking for some, but I also new it was a really really long way from where he lived and not even exactly what he was looking for. Roc you will find some that are not a thousand miles away just be patient, easy for me to say, i'm not to good with the patience part myself.
  22. I just thought I would throw this out there. Yesterday I went and picked up a pair of Forte ll's for someone and when I tried them out when I got home they had a big problem. The bass was in and out and very scratchy ? I took out the passive radiator on the rear to look for a problem and found nothing. Then I looked at the crossover and everything looked fine. So I just unplugged the bass wires and they were on there very tight, you would think if they were on there that tight it has to make a good connection. There was no corosion to be seen, so with them playing I plugged them in and unplugged them a few times in desperation. After a few times of doing that it stopped and played perfectly ? and is still fine ? No form of visible corosion or anything ? But it worked ? Both speakers were doing the same thing, and it fixed both of them, and I played them all day today and they are fine ? These Forte ll's were unused and in thier box for over a year ! Could that have done something ? Give it a try it's free, clean off the terminals with something and try again, you never know .
  23. Very nice , and probably saved a ton over new ! Looks like new ! Have fun
  24. That's funny. OB is speechless ! [] That's hard to belive. Next he will be telling us about some jazz albums he had found for his new turntable, and how he can't stand to listen to rock anymore. Never mind I forgot we are talking about OB. Those new Heresys' should sound great with your new toy, congratulations OB. Sheltie Dave, that was a very nice thing to do.[Y] " Helping the elderly always is a nice thing to do !" That should get OB back to his old self again. Want to really make him happy send him some pic's of some college girls with the amp !
