  1. I copied my round up post over from this thread, please list any other LaScala mods, threads and parts sources. https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/149442-lascala-sonic-detail-improvement-for-only-22098/page-7#entry1926774 My LaScalas are circa 1980 Stock AA crossovers If I want to make improvements or changes in incremental steps, this is what I understand: Based on the above posts, and a conversation (2-3 years ago) with B Crites and the Klipsch factory support guy, the drivers in the LaScala don't wear out under normal circumstances. The capacitors, on the other hand do have an end of life, the transformer and inductor rarely fail (it would probably require an amp incinerating failure to fry the inductor or transformer). First: Update the 3 caps on the AA crossover, from the schematic in the pinned section. Stock: Sonicaps from Crites or others inc Parts Express brand. To me, stock always sounded very good 2x 2uF capacitors 1x 13uF Alternative Crossover update to lower the volume mids by 3db aka 50% decrease in power to Squawker. This is done to flatten the output across the bass and mids? I currently use an EQ to add output at the 400Hz point and rolling off into the up and down freqs from this point. 2x 2uF caps 1x 6.8 uF cap Both of these updates-mods are stand-alone and can be listened to and evaluated without further mods or repairs. Second This step could be either replace the K-77 (matched ?) phenolic tweeters with the Crites CT-125 EV driver with custom Crites Lens and titanium diaphragm. OR Replace the woofer with the Crites stamped Woofer $$, or Eminence Kappa 15C $, also mentioned above is the K-44 Factory $$$ woofer. http://www.parts-exp...-4-ohm--290-459 Both the tweeter and the woofer "upgrades" are standalone changes and require no mods to the crossover or anything else. Third If the K-77 is replaced with the Crites CT 125, as an option after moving to the CT-125.....the crossover point between the Squawker and the CT-125 can be lowered to take advantage of the increased range of the CT-125. Thread on CT-125 topic, one of many? https://community.kl...rs-in-la-scala/ Thread on Crossovers https://community.kl...pgrade-options/ Volti take on LaScala http://www.klipschup...upgrades2.shtml More horns + ALK http://www.alkeng.com/trachorn.html Alethia's take on custom crossovers http://www.aletheiaa...m/Services.html Crossover Options with CT-125: Do nothing leave at 400 and 6,000Hz, replace crossover 400 and 4,500 Hz, somehow modify existing crossover to 400 and 4,500. Forgot to mention the ALK Universal, I'm sure there are others.... The existing crossover may be modified, I don't know how. OR The AA crossover can be replaced with a new A 4500 from Crites http://www.critesspe...00-crossov.html "Problem with this is that the K-55 mid-range driver is pressed really hard to reach 6000hz. It would be much more linear in it's operation if the highest frequencies it has to reproduce were in the 4500hz area." Note: I'm guessing that PK the Designer was aware of this, and perhaps no better option was available than the EV K-77 tweeter, AND OR the mid-range K-55 is so sweet with the voice that it is better to leave as much of the voice as possible on the K-55 up to 400- 6KHz. Maybe if we had the engineer's notes we could know how the decision was made, I'm sure lots of trial and "does this sound better than"........ My opinion the LaScala: PK was a very good audio engineer, everything was done for a reason. Speakers that sound good, sell better. Was the mid range 400-6,000 intentionally boosted to put the human (Female) voice more forward aka Hear the Angels Singing? The K-55 really makes the angels sing. The low end could be better, a design trade off
  2. Hi all I am new to Klipsch, to the RP-Hub1 and the forum. I love the sound quality from the hub, and would like to assist Klipsch to get the software sorted out. I have seen comments on RP-Hub1 software issues in many different threads. Would it be an idea to use this one thread for reporting of bugs and feature requests? Could it be pinned at the top of the Home Theater forum, so it is easy to find in the future, and to avoid new threads on the same subject? If you post in this thread, kindly include the number when you refer to bugs already mentioned (for example; B1 - I have / have not experienced that one). Also kindly add new bug reports & feature requests by continuing to use the number system I have started. This can help avoid multiple reporting of the same issue. If Klipsh need beta software testers, I would volenteer to be one of them. Bugs I have experienced myself are: B1) Speakers going MIA: On startup /power on While on standby During playback This may involve speakers being dropped totally, or remain identified as present in the menu, but being silent. This is so bad that I was shocked when I once was able to just turn on the system and play with all speakers present. B2) The speaker identification tone feature stay silent in my system. B3) My universal remote can switch off the Hub with together with the TV; but when I turn on the TV, the hub does not follow. B4) I have seen in another thread that the 2nd connected subwoofer was reported silent/almost silent; As I am considering to buy a 2nd subwoofer, please also check is this is a general bug. Note that the ability to connect 2 subwoofers is a unique selling point for the Klipsch hub. My Feature requests are: F1) Establish a memory for speaker settings (ID, position, distance & volume etc) , and allow users to lock the setting after setup of the speakers. This should remain if power is cut, and only change if the user unlock it, or factory reset is used. F2) Have the hub recognize when the speaker setup is different from the locked memory settings, and automatically search for speakers which are MIA. F3) To seach manually for MIA speakers requires about 10 button pushes on the remote to get to the right sub-menu. I would like to be able to search using only one or two button pushes. F4) Establish an alarm to tell the user when the hub can't find all speakers listed in the memory file, so the user can check what is wrong. A suitable alarm could be (user selected) either a tone or flashing lights on the hub. F5) Work out an method to identify and deal with connected but "silent" speakers, for example to allow use of a USB microphone to pick-up test tones from all speakers. F6) 2.0A 4K video pass-through on all HDMI inputs (from another thread) F7) Allow use of the service USB port as additional input (as few audiophile music streamers have HDMI output) F8) Improve the manual, to explain which input to the hub can receive what signal 2.0 or 7.1/7.2 channels allowable file formats for both music and video in what maximum resolution I have not managed to get playback above 48kHz using an optical input from a Mac Mini and 96kHz files, and don't know if this is a problem or normal behaviour?
  3. I was going to update the firmware on my RSB 14 which I've only had a few months. So I downloaded the zip file, expanded it and put the two files on an empty 8GB flash drive from my mac. I followed the instructions of unplugging the unit, inserting the flash drive and holding the volume up button while plugging the power cord back in. But Dolby light never came on. I waited several minutes. So i released the volume up button and unplugged the unit, removed the flash drive. I confirmed i had the files on the drive, and I tried again. Still not dolby light. So i figured i would do it later after checking the forums and looking up some trouble shooting stuff. But now the unit will not work at all. I hook the power up the blue tooth and digital indicator light come on and stay on, but it is not giving any sound from my Apple TV, which i have hooked up via optical, i can not pair with my phone via blue tooth and it will not respond to it;s remote or the Universal remote i had programmed and had been using with it.
  4. Hi there! I am new here and happy so see that much content here from you guy! Unlucky i do not have a store oder audio-hifi-dealer near by, so i just watch some speaker reviews on yt. The RP-8000F got some good reviews and it seems to be onest ones. So bought them, but they are still on shipping. I own a small Denon Class-D Amp with low Power and i am very unsure if this will sound good together. What do you think? Am i in danger of killing it by clipping? Or doesn't sound well? AMP Specs: Denon PMA-60 8 Ohm (20 Hz - 20 kHz, 0.07% Klirr) 25W (1kHz) 4 Ohm (1 kHz, 0.7% Klirr) 50 W Speaker Specs: FREQUENCY RESPONSE 32-25kHz +/- 3dB SENSITIVITY 98dB @ 2.83V / 1m POWER HANDLING (CONT/PEAK)150/600 NOMINAL IMPEDANCE 8 Ohms Compatible
  5. Behringer Eurolive B212XL 800-Watt 2-Way PA Speaker System - Built to go on the road. 2 like new B212XLs in the original boxes used for a temporary home theater set up - $210 for both. I picked them up while waiting for my stuff to be delivered and used them a few months in the house. From the manufacturer: High-power 2-way PA sound reinforcement speaker system for live and playback applications (200 Watts Continuous / 800 Watts Peak Power) Ultra-compact and lightweight system delivers excellent sound even at extreme sound pressure levels Extremely powerful 12'' long-excursion driver provides incredibly deep bass and acoustic power State-of-the-art 1.75'' titanium-diaphragm compression driver for exceptional high-frequency reproduction Ultra-wide dispersion, large-format exponential horn Overload-protection circuitry ensures optimal HF driver protection Versatile trapezoidal enclosure design allows different positioning: - Stand mounting with 35-mm pole socket - Tilts on its side for use as a floor monitor Ergonomically shaped handles for easy carrying and setup 2 professional speaker connectors plus ¼'' jack connectors High-quality components and exceptionally rugged construction ensure long life Conceived and designed by BEHRINGER Germany Even Better Than Before These loudspeakers take everything musicians love about the original B212 loudspeakers and upgrade them with the same bass and treble/mid transducers found in our wildly popular B212A passive version for even better sound and power handling. And with integrated overload protection circuitry, they arrive ready to push it to the limit without putting their high or low frequency drivers in danger. Triumphant Transducers Every stitch of these loudspeakers is built to deliver, but the fact is that their transducers (woofers and tweeters) are the only part you actually hear. While some manufacturers are okay with putting off-the-shelf transducers in their boxes, we custom-design and build ours from scratch. Not only do we wind our own voice coils, we grow the trees that are processed into the paper pulp that becomes the cones. We even machine the frames and backplates. BEHRINGER's quality is truly under control. Big Sound, Lightweight, Low Price Big here, small there, lots of this, light on that - everyone's got their preferences, but the EUROLIVE B212XL has proportions we can all agree upon. These loudspeakers pack a clean, punchy wallop (and can handle up to 800 Watts), they are easy to lift by their recessed handles (24 lbs) and are available at insanely low prices. Who wouldn't want to hook up with one of these beauties? Get on the Stick...or Get on Down The B212XL is perfect either as part of a PA system or as an onstage monitor. If the situation calls for a PA, mount the speakers on stands via the 35mm pole socket. From there, send a line from the MAIN OUT of a mixer (such as a XENYX 1202FX) to a power amplifier (like the EUROPOWER EP1500). Finally, attach a B212XL to each of the amp's outputs. These loudspeakers have inputs for both professional speaker cable and ¼" cable. Because they have two parallel inputs, you can connect up to two of them to any channel on a power amp. But these loudspeakers don't have to be confined to an upright position. Just lay them on their sides for use as a floor monitor. You'll find that they tilt to the ideal angle for onstage monitor wedge applications. They also make swiveling wall-mount brackets for the B212XL. 6. Hello, First of all, I hope you will understand me because I am French... I just received a Kilpsch gate and so I installed Klipsch Stream and Klipsch Stream Utility on my Android smartphone. I connected the box to my wifi network and then searched for available updates using Klipsch Stream Utility. He found me two. I was able to install the 1st update without any problem but it's impossible for me to install the 2nd (FW version v: 1.32). I think I follow the procedure, press the power button long while plugging the power cord into the Klipsch gate. I see the progress of the download on my smartphone and, once 100% the Klipsch gate restarts as it did for the 1st update but this 2nd update is not installed... because Klipsch Stream Utility proposes again it to me every time. I must have done this operation about ten times without success.... And, to finish, it's impossible for me to use my Klipsch Stream Gate because it announces me that this 2nd update is available and must be installed before I can use my Klipsch gate.... Can someone help me please? thank you in advance
  7. Hi Klipsch community, I recently purchased RSB-14 sound bar, with 2 RW-1 Wireless speakers. To set up a surround system with the bar and the RW-1 speakers, you need in first place to work on some FW updates (http://assets.klipsch.com/files/Stream-Surround-Update-TechBulletin-v06.pdf) For the RSB-14, no issue at all, you can download the binary file and use the USB interface on the bar. Worked like a charm. However, for the RW-1 speaker you have to download the “Klipsch RW-1 Utility Stream" Update app for android or apple. And follow the steps... here start the issues. => The update application never find my speakers, and it stuck on the screen "Searching for device", this may take few minutes ;-D .. I let the app running for 1 hour, still did not find my speakers.. I followed every steps very carefully: wifi set up & speaker in update mode. I've also double checked my network config: - Both speakers are seen by my network ( I can access it with their IP address on a web browser). - I've tried DHCP IP address and then put a static IP address.. same issue - I've tried with the speaker wired on my network: same - I've tried a factory reset on the speaker and start the process again. same issue For info, the speaker in stand alone works fine on my network with the klipsch play-fi application.. I also tried to put both of it on stereo mode, and it worked great.. so my router and network set up seems to work OK.. If anyone already experienced the same issue and found how to resolve it, many thanks for sharing ! Cheers,

  9. Hello everyone! *ABOUT ME, SKIP DOWN FOR MY TOPIC* New to the forum, but I actually just got into Klipsch! My step dad has had the Quintet III for years now and he loves it and I admit it sounds damn good. Before I have what I have now, I owned the Polk Audio RM6750 surround system. It was a basic 5.1 channel with a small subwoofer. I used all of the surround speakers but never used the sub or the center channel. After hearing my step dad's set up, and with his Klipsch Sub10, I ended up building my own. It was during the time I loved building speakers, so I ordered the woofer off of eBay, bought a plate amp and port, and built it to the spec's of his. It turned out great! Also I custom built my center channel with speakers from HiVI, and crossover'd them. I had them all running through an older Yamaha 6.1 Receiver! Currently, this is what I have: Current Setup Klipsch R-15m --- Mains (2) Klipsch R-14m --- Surrounds (2) Custom HiVI --- Center Polk Audio PSW505 --- Subwoofer Pioneer Elite VSX-94TXH --- Receiver HISENSE 55h8c 4k --- Television So overall, my setup is decent however there are some problems with it. I've been looking everywhere for a suitable replacement for the receiver and I've come up with nothing in my price range really. The guy is a beast what can I say! The sound is very clear, it pushes 140 watts at 8 ohms which is rare to find because everything now says "WOW 250 watts in every channel! *in fine print* at 6 ohms! So now reduce the power a lot to get the 8 Ohms. The THX certification is a nice feeling to have even though the speakers aren't, and just overall it's very easy to use. Problem being, I'm trying to get a little more modern. The Elite only has HDMI 1.3 I believe, which doesn't support 4K pass-through. My question being, what would be a good upgrade receiver wise to give me similar sound/plus having 4K pass-through? OR, I have been considering if I went with a power amplifier and a cheaper receiver to do the same thing while allowing me to get 4K pass-through. I have looked into Emotiva, Rotel, Parasound and so on and all of them are quite expensive of course for a 5 Channel amp. Is any of this worth it? Or should I continue just running all of my stuff to my TV then exporting through optical? Thank you for reading, hope you have a good day! - Josh
