greg928gts
I have an Excel spreadsheet program on my computer that I'd like to provide a link for in a post. How do I attach that? Do I need to upload it to a website first? Greg
Groomlakearea51
I'm pretty sure you have to have it linked on a www/http site, unless your computer is a server with a fixed IP address.

greg928gts
I have a revised tractrix calculator. How do I put that on my website? I know how to upload webpages or photographs, but I've never done an excel spreadsheet. Anyone? Greg
Marvel
Take a copy and change the extension to .pdf. We can save it and change the extension to use it. I think I have done that before, to fool the filtering softwarefor file type uploading. []
toddvj
To put it directly on your website, where people can actually input their information, etc, would be somewhat difficult, you'd have to know some programming. To simply upload it and create a link for people to download, should be easy. If your web service won't allow it, just zip it, then upload. greg928gts
Marvel - I want to leave as an excel spreadsheet so other people can use it calculate their horn design. I'd like to upload it to my website and create a link for people to download, but I don't know how to "zip it" as toddvj wrote. I haven't tried yet, but I guess I could just try to transfer it over to the public side of the FTP and see what happens. Maybe it's that simple. WMcD
In most if not all Windows programs: Save the Exel file. Then highlight or select (same thing). Right click to open 'send to menu'. One of the choices is a Compressed zip folder. Then you can upload to a thread just you do with a picture file. Of course you can put more than one file in the folder. So you might want to consider including a set of instructions or comments. Wm McD

Changing the extension to pdf doesn't make the file any less an excel file. It's just that windowsuses the extension to identify what the file is by the extension. If you can post it with a pdf extension, after folks save it, they only need to rename it with the xls extension. Then they can open it just fine in excel. greg928gts
Thanks everyone. I just uploaded it to my website as a .xls file. It was easier than I thought. I should have just done it, but I had never uploaded anything but webpages that I created or photographs, so I didn't know it would just automatically upload the document.
